Hilary Duff has a new video out for her song "Reach Out," which completely samples rips off Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus." No. No. No. This is illegal, right? A ho like Hilary Duff can't just take a Depeche Mode song, rip it to shreds, violate it and spit all over it! Something must be done! I want to reach out and slap her.
When I turn off the sound, the video isn't that bad. But Hilary Duff is trying to bring the sexy and it isn't really working. It's like a cutesy chipmunk, putting on lingerie and trying to sex you with their eyes. It's a little uncomfortable.

I'm not going to bash her. I was just thinking how hard it is to be a pop star and a former kid star. It's hard to make music to appeal to a mass audience-- when everyone's waiting to rip you to shreds. It's really hard to have any sort of longevity in the music. She doesn't even have a great voice to propel her forward.
I mean, there are worse problems to have, but still it's difficult. It's worldwide humiliation if your album does poorly.
Whatever about the Depeche Mode, nothing is sacred anymore. Sample away...just make the song worth the rip off.

Dave Gahan is, imo, one of the best male vocalist ever. However, Martin Gore's voice is slightly better. Sometimes it's almost difficult to tell them apart, but Martin really showcases his pipes in "One Caress". That song is fucking AMAZING, & his voice is like smooth, chocolately velvet. As Linda Richman would say, his voice - it's like buttah.
And does anyone else find it funny that Hillary Duff is sampling a song who's original version featured a music video with several shots of horses?

Personal Jesus is still one of the hottest cuts ever made, 20 years after the fact. VIOLATOR was one of the first records I bought...as a 6th grader. All the singles from that record are perfect. Hillary Duff should be taken out to pasture like the horsey face she is, and made into glue!
