Carrie Underwood Endorses Not Endorsing

Carrie Underwears thinks all celebwhores should keep their mouth holes closed when it comes to publicly endorsing a presidential candidate. I'm sure Oprah is going to lose a lot of sleep over this.

In the new issue of TV Guide, Carrie said, "There is someone I do support, but I don't support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate. It's saying that the American public isn't smart enough to make their own decisions. I would never want anybody to vote for anything or anybody just because I told them to. Music is where you go to get away from all the BS. Whether it's from politics or just the world around you, music should be an escape."

Celebwhores have the right to endorse whoever the fuck they want. Carrie also has the right to tell them to shut the fuck up. Just like I have the right to tell her to shut the fuck up. And you have the right to tell me shut me to shut the fuck up. See how that works?

That said, I'm about to go vote, so does anybody know who La Pequena and Rojo Caliente are publicly endorsing?

She is not of the calibre of star that has been aroung for ten years. But she has alot of opinions. I feel she should croon and SHUT UP!!!

A real old one: I like Beethoven and Mozart, too.

And let's not forget that political group that told us all to Wang Chung tonight! Or the great womanologist Gary Puckett, directing all young girls to get out of his life. And on that note, shout out to Billy Ocean warning that siren to get out his dreams and into his car! (Et ou est Monsier Ocean maintenant?) Oh, and the spokesperson for incestual pedophilia, Gilbert O'Sullivan, with his paean to all things syrupy and illegal in his song "Claire."

heh someone says they don't go out and buy stuff cause celebs endorse it. The only thing I DO copy from them, is their fashion. Not what they tell me to buy, but the things they wear sometimes. that's the only thing they endorse to me.

Rosemary's picture

I think carrie is right. But I also think that she didn't say who because she was a little afraid too.. Otherwise maybe she would say who but also make her statement. Because if she feels we can make decisions why not just say who. There's a difference in telling who you are voting for and backing them everyday. But I guess it could be her way of making a point she doesn't want to endorse who she is voting for and she felt that was the best way.

Mr. President's picture

Not her best pic, for sure. Speaking of country singers, I saw a picture of Taylor Swift and she is looking pretty hot.

She is absolutely right. Celebrities think they can influence us "little people" to vote for whomever the majority of them endorse. Wrong. The majority of celebrities are uneducated and have no knowledge of much of anything (except shopping). IMO their endorsement cheapens a candidate and I generally vote for the opposing choice.

It's called freedom of speech to declare who you support.

and it is also a freedom to NOT say who you chose to vote for. That's called privacy.

She totally is gunning for McCain, that's why she wont say. Celebs can say what they want, but what I get crosseyed over is when the news turns to celebs for their guidance on issues, unless they are MEGA informed with all the pie charts and information lists to back themselves up.

"They lie about marijuana. Tell you pot-smoking makes you unmotivated. Lie! When you're high, you can do everything you normally do, just as well. You just realize that it's not worth the fucking effort"

So what if she sang "Jesus Take the Wheel"? She wasn't telling YOU to have Jesus take YOUR wheel. One thing has nothing to do with the other. I really don't need some overpaid asscrack to tell me what to do or how to do it, when most of them can't take control of their own lives. So I agree, Carrie - celebs should STFU.

I'd like to hold it in my arms
And keep it company

I'd like to see the world for once
(Let the world sing today)
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills
For peace throughout the land
That's the song I hear

Let the world sing today
(Let the whole wide world keep singing)
A song of peace that echoes on

Good thing Patti Smith, Public Enemy, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, The Clash, Pete Seeger, The Beatles, John Lennon, James Brown, and other musicians didn't take her advice regarding politics and music. (And quite a few classical musicians got political in their operas. Anyhoo...)

It's insulting of HER to think that people just follow what a celebrity does and says. Sure, some do. But quite a few don't. And I think a celebrity, an actor, can speak up just the same way someone in any other profession can and does. Like that Joe the plumber guy.

There are celebrities who attended college and/or are well read. As for the person complaining about going to a John Cougar Mellencamp concert and having to listen to Mellencamp go on about politics, well, did you listen to his lyrics? He lays his politics right there in quite a few of his songs.

I only like Carrie when she bashes Jessica. Hey! Here's one: I don't think an ex-girlfriend should bash the new one because the former just sounds like sour grapes. It's not tasteful. UNLESS that new one is a big-boobed, idiot bimbo.

Dr. Dick's picture

I can't believe Underwears made a rational statement. Most of the celebs telling the little people what to do have let their ego convince them that anyone cares about their opinion. Also, very few of them have degrees in anything. Look at Paris--10th grade education and has the audacity to put out a "Paris for President" video. Puke.

You know this bitch is in the Hollywood Republican minority, she sang "Jesus take the wheel" FFS.

As for her views, this isn't at all surprising. I wouldn't class her as a credible musician anyday, she's straight off the Idol manufacturing line, prepackaged to the red states as they come. It's amazing how much a song title can suggest politically whilst this bumpkin is silenced by her label and the Idol machine.

I'm Australian and even I can grasp that.

@TITS, I work with this woman who hates and I mean hates Clinton for the whole Monica Lewinsky thing. But I would love to know how she would feel about McCain cheating on his 1st wife during their marriage then leaving her after her awful car accident for Cindy Lou Who. And calling Cindy Lou Who a cunt in front of reporters. But I never bring that up ever. Cause if I did there would be blood on the walls.

Sticky - Also, why do people get so offended when asked about who they voted for?

*

In my personal experience, the only time people ask you who you voted for are those who either want to pick a fight or tell you why you're wrong.

Plus - you need to consider that political discussions are time bombs in many social settings - especially in the workplace. I would NEVER tell a co-worker or employer how I vote. Ever. Some people feel really strongly about this shit and you could be damned in their eyes for eternity if you answer 'wrong'.

I actually agree with her. Celebs should just shut up about voting and accept that they have no societal power. And that they don't have a clue about the issues and just blindly vote for whichever party they favor.

Example of the Totally Annoying Political Drip Parade: Scarlett Hohanson

Unfortunately, I think these 'celebs' DO have influence on the young/first time voters. They can't think for themselves and many of them don't have the patience to sit through the campaigns, etc. so they rely on famous people to tell them what to do. It's sad, but true I think. :(

For the poster who asked why some people get offended when asked about who they voted for, I believe it used to be considered a private matter...I remember my father telling me that it's bad form to ask someone who they are voting for, and that's advice I've stuck to all my life. Of course, nowadays, everyone is just all too willing to share every single solitary aspect of their lives, and expect others to do the same. I agree with Carrie Underwood...it's so tedious to hear *any* half-brained idiot warbler or script reader pontificating to all of us little people why they are voting a certain way, and why we need their opinion/guidance/endorsements. They can endorse all they want, of course, but we all have the right to ignore them.

I actually agree with her. I'd love to not log into the internet or turn on a tv and find out how many famous people are voting for Barack Obama. Real original. You're famous and liberal! Wow, way to rock the system by being a rebel.

What a dumb slut. Music is an art form and as such should express how people feel not only about their world but also how they feel about their governments or any other governments. That's what art is and that's why it has been such a vaulable tool throughout our history. Everything from Dada to the Renassiance and before that.

I guess her music is only about unicorns and puppies and as such should only be listened to by dumdums who don't care about the world.

If she believes that celebrities should shut up about it, then I suggest she do the same.

Also, why do people get so offended when asked about who they voted for? I asked some girl in my class who she voted for, and she looked at me as if I had asked her if she shaves her pubes. Is it really that big of a deal?
