As someone who had one abortion after a broken condom, I can say it wasn't an easy decision, and made me extremely, extremely cautious so that I wouldn't ever be in a position to have a second.

I don't understand people who have multiple abortions for non-medical reasons, but I will always fight for their right to do what they want to with their bodies. Especially if they know they would be crappy parents and don't have a support system for a child. Some people will be great parents regardless of age or circumstances, others will be horrible regardless, but it really should be a personal decision

I dont know how we got on the abortion topic -- actually yes I do -- and its totally offtask. We were supposed to be bashing Hasselcrack and Shepass. But I will say this, I thank God everyday that abortion was an option for me. I got pregnant at 24 for an abusive, dick of a man whose idea of a good time was to drag me across the floor and dump me outside our apt, punch me in the face, and threaten to kill me. I found out I was pregnant at 2 weeks and was able to have a medical abortion (i.e. take the abortion pill) at 5 weeks. The procedure was basically like having my period and it was over in a couple of days. But the Prick, as my husband I call him, decided that he was upset about it (after the fact) and raped me three days after I took the pill even though the doc ordered no sex for like 2 weeks afterward. So was that abortion more terrible than me being tied to this jackass for the rest of my life and having a child that would be all kinds of fucked up by this asshole. I dont think so. I would take the abortion again in a heartbeat to save myself and that poor defenseless, unsuspecting kid.

I'm more towards the anti-abortion side... but I also don't want a man deciding what women can do w/ their own bodies.

As for women who have had multiple abortions... they truly don't deserve to ever have children... one of my co-workers was recently talking about wanting children. Me and my sis cringed at the thought! She's had 4 abortions (that we know of) and she doesn't deserve to ever have a child (in our opinion).

I think we'd find that, if we concentrated on education and socio-emotional development we wouldn't need a lot of laws regarding things like marriage/divorce or abortion or maybe even guns! (if we were to aim really high - we ARE pretty amazing, after all!).

PS. I didn't say ALL laws - just 'a lot' of them.

Oh sigh! I agree that potatos should not be illegalized.. also, abortions are a terrible terrible thing, And a lot of women take them lightly.. And it is hard for me to say if they should be available or not. B/c no one knows what the future holds.. If you or me was to be raped, and then what if we were to get pregnant due to that traumatizing event. Something like that happens, then abortion is necessary.. But for everyday skanks and whores? NO.. These bitches, oh gosh.. really make me sick. Like Yioooo said, that girl can't get pregnant anymore.. Well boooo hoooo.. I understand what you're saying, I do, but you're missing the point. Women that have multiple abortions (5,6,7) don't give a shit about anything so they're not going to spring for birth control, they're not going to stop having sex. They operate on a completely hedonistic, self-absorbed, selfish, fucked up level and won't change their behavior until something tragic happens to them. So while it bothers me that some people take advantage of a system that's put in place for what I believe should be dire circumstances (and I'm not talking about just being raped or incest, because sometimes being straight up broke and alone is enough for me), I'm not gonna knock those who do go overboard because I wouldn't want them "raising" kids anyway.

Big L abortion isn't MEANT to be birth control. So many anti-choice people are always saying that women could use it as birth control. Yeah, at $400 a pop that's pretty fucking expensive birth control! Realistically, it's cheaper to use a condem or the pill or whatever floats your boat as a contraceptive. Most women can afford the condems or birth control, although there's probably quite a few who can't these days either. But hell, it's cheaper than having a baby so they need to start weighing the options better.

Missy - it's sickening, I know a few women who have had more than 5 abortions. It's disgusting, one right after another, they keep having to change clinics and doctors due to the frequency.

I agree that abortion is probably not the best method of birth control, however, there is big difference between stating your opinion with clarity and dignity and spewing.

I'm not anti-choice. I just don't think that is a proper choice of BIRTH CONTROL when there are other options to not put you in that position in the first place.
