R.I.P. Michael Crichton

Wow. Michael Crichton unexpectedly passed away in Los Angeles at the young age of 66. A rep issued a statement saying he died after a "courageous and private battle against cancer."

Michael is credited for making me fall in love with dinosaurs in the 90s thanks to "Jurassic Park." He was also the author of such thrillers as "Disclosure," "The Andromeda Strain," "Sphere," and "Congo." I can go on and on. In addition to writing books, Michael also created "E.R" and was an executive producer on the show.

He is survived by his wife and daughter.

He was a talent that will be truly missed. Rest in peace, Michael....

Jurasic Park was waay overated. Jeff Goldblum is about as clever as Sarah Palin. That Congo movie was terrible. Pop Nonsense. It is never good to die at 66, but dude probably smoked and his works basically were drivel. No big loss.

Whoa, you are a Grade-A asshole! What a horrible and disrespectful thing to say about ANYONE.

Read his books, they were a million times better than the movies. Judging the man based on the movies? Sad. If you think his works were 'drivel' let's see you do better.

If you can read, chicaloca, try one of his novels instead of the movies.

Timeline and Sphere were the best. Again, I said the books, not the movies.

Another great one is gone. Why are all the greats dying - leaving us with today's "choices" in the arts, science, and especially politics? The movie Idiocracy really is coming true!

"Eaters of the Dead" is one of my favorite books. His take on Beowulf was excellent. I just finished "Next" not too long ago. Who would have thought it would be his final novel?

It's a sad, sad day.

What an assy thing to say. Even if it’s “no big loss” to you he was someone’s husband, father and son, I’m sure his family is grieving.

Wow... What a huge loss! He wrote some of the most entertaining books ever. Have read "Timeline" too many times to count. Very sad to not have his new books to look forward to.

He was pretty conservative politically...or so I hear. I think I read one of his books in high school. Can't remember which one...but it's too bad he died too young!
