HoHan Say What?
Above is a little clip of HoHan looking like a 50-year-old methadone clinic reject during an interview with Maria Menounos on Access Hollywood tonight. I played the first part at least a hundred times. As someone pointed out on ONTD, it kind of sounds like HoHan mumbled, "it's our first colored president." I blame the trash teachings of White Oprah.
Play it for yourself. I tried to figure out what else she could be saying, but nothing came up.
This fuckery reminds of some dude who recently said to me, "You're part Oriental, right?" I felt like saying, "Yeah, my dad is. He's really a nice rug. You should visit him sometime. He's currently for sale in the clearance section at fucking Bombay Company."

Black people refer to themselves as such and do not find it offensive at all. in fact, they prefer it to african american.
Correct me if i'm wrong but when i took american history, i learned that "black Irish" was a derogatory term used when the irish were the most recent immigrant group to mass emigrate to America and the Irish were being descriminated against? If you look at american history there are periods when older established groups are hostile to the most recent group to mass immigrate (chinese, Irish, blacks). I understood that historically speaking "black irish" was a derogatory term used to refer to dark haired/dark eyed Irish immigrants who were easy to identify as recent irish immigrants (more so than their fair-skinned fellow irish?)

That sounds about right: no one is sure. But I've heard my relies in Ireland use the term, so it's not a US thing.
I always think of the John Sayles kids' flick, "The Secret of Roan Inish," where magical human-seal mating produces dark people who happen to fish very well.

I do not disagree that black who came on the slave ships as slaves were "imports." However, many blacks also immigrated to the US (from the Caribbean and Africa). In fact, there were historical periods when the US had racist immigration laws to restrict or ban immigration from non-white/Non-European countries to stop blacks (chinese at one time too) from immigrating to the US. So yes, there are some blacks who immigrated to the US.

Some blacks in the U.S. actually do prefer the term African-American.

I will often say: Person of colour. But, seriously, I would have digressed like crazy cuz I'd have to go over every part of his background just for thinking about it. It's interesting. And I always think it terms of culture as opposed to colour.
I guess because I'm so mixed or maybe cuz my "black" is African as opposed to the Jamaicans as opposed to the Trinidadians (split again with Indian and Native, I guess)that I grew up with. Cultures are just very cool, I guess. I'd end up going on all damn day about it so mebbe just ending her career completely in a quick way was a better idea.

She's either saying "He's our first, you know, colored president" or she's saying "He's our first man-of-color president" although watching her mouth as she speaks it looks like the former not the latter. I don't think she was being racist I think she just got mixed up in what she was trying to say.
When I used to take acting classes is when I learned that oriental is the food and not the person. That was like 4 or 5 years ago and i'm 29, that's pretty bad huh. So now I make sure I say Asian, bu t before that I would say Oriental referring to a person.
Is black Irish an American thing? Because I've spoken with some of my pop's family who live in Ireland and the ones I've met have never heard that, but that's what people always said about his family here.
She looks and sounds like shit. Man her voice sounds like a 5 pack a day habit. Yuck!
