Mrs. Rojo On Larry King!
Joy Behar filled in for Larry King last night, he was off hunting for the souls of children, and she had the unofficial Mrs. Rojo Caliente on her show to talk about the gay marriage ban. I've been majorly strung out, looking for a Rojo fix, so this helped to ease the pain. I watched it last night, focusing on Mrs. Rojo's lips and thinking, "those things have felt the heat of The Rojo!" I'm jealous. On a serious note, Mrs. Rojo is smart in the brains and made some good points.

I am not, however, a bigoted zealot.
My church teaches that there is a differrence between relationship (with God) and rules.
Certain people think that their rules are God. Not!
The God I worship wants everyone to have a relationship with him. And I can quote that verse if any bigot wants to hear it.
I feel so strongly about Jesus getting falsely accused of homophobia, thast me and my gay running buddy Blade are working on a podcast about that. Stay tuned.

Zomay, that is one of the most interesting theories I have ever heard. I absolutely love that interpretation, and to me, it really makes more sense. In the history and theology that I have studied, Jesus was certainly believed to be rebellious.

Religious, or should I say Christian, arguments against homosexuality are little no more than wishful thinking on the behalf of mouth breathing morons.
There is nothing in the Old or New Testament that condemns the practice of homosexual acts between common persons. Most of the people reading this will never have read the Bible in any depth, although they will automatically assume that the New Testament contains some awful hate-speech against homosexuals. It doesn't.
Please do not believe the hype. There are no references of Jesus mentioning homosexuality. According to some people, there is a lost book of the New Testament where Jesus condemns all homosexual people to hell before riding a tank through the Middle East it an American flag draped around his shoulders.
Sorry whores, but you're either illiterate or incapable of perusing academic interests if that's the garbage that you take from the New Testament. Anybody who is able to cite me references in Hebrew is more than welcome to disagree with me.
Oh, and don't even get me started on the straight out SHIT that comes out of the Church of Latter Day Saints. Hey bitches, there's a Cher album buried in my back garden that you might be interested in.

It's a separation of church and state thing to me. Fundamentalists in this country have tried to blur that line since they've been working as the GOP's lil' voter gofers, since Reagan. If the Mormons, Catholics, or random evangelical yahoos can pick and choose who gets equal rights in this country, then they better not be pissing and moaning when Muslims or Wiccan's start demanding Santa, crosses, and other xtian paraphanalia be removed from public places.
And it's already happened/is happening. E.g., the cases of fundie Muslim cab drivers who refused to transport people with their alcoholic beverage purchases (yeah, I know, kind of financially self-defeating in the cab business, but they sued for their "right" to discriminate, haven't checked where that went in court). Also, many religious sects, including Christian ones, regard Xmas as a pagan holiday. It's going to be a never-ending religious nutter free-for-all. I'm frankly sick of this bullshit, and these same mofos turn around and point fingers at the Taliban for basically carrying out a Xtian fundies' wet dream: running the government with absolute power "according to religious edicts".

I just got back from a protest (and a quick trip to Best Buy) and it was a very positive feeling - aside from some crazy "abortion" dude who was saying we're going to hell for protesting the movement.
The same guy that used to ask me not to abort my baby and passed me abortion pamphlets on a daily basis as I was going to get my morning bagel.

I cant stand people that make comments about religion when they are ignorant and only use it to their advantage. I attended parochial school all the way to high school so I'm very familiar with religion. It's not a religious thing, its a human rights issue. Church and state are separate, and it makes no difference whether you like it or not. That's the law of the land- if you don't like it, move. Women in the Bible were also not worth $hit- do you think we should go back to that? Maybe women shouldnt be able to vote, or work, or earn any money. A choice or gender by no way negates human rights. Do you spout your religious views all the time or just when you're anonymous?
I'm no dummy, and even first hearing about the whole Prop 8 wording I was like, "wait, what? What way do I vote to vote for it? Or against it? Which way is the good way?"

What's funny is that the gays should be supported by businesses considering that they fall into the category that they love: high income, usually college educated, people without children. I've read that gay men (haven't done quite as much research on lesbians) are indeed often better educated and more affluent than their counterparts.
Hmmm... put those two together, and why would "Middle America", those without college educations, those who cling to their religion and guns as our President-Elect said, want to deny them basic freedoms?
