You know - my friends and I went through all that shit. We were much younger mind and didn't have kids... As a teen, I came from a dysfunctional bunch and was attracted to other dysfunctionals. Most of those people - with the exception of a couple, like on guy who did 40 hits of acid in a week and such - are just adults now. Settled, families. Some battle wounds and maybe larger ups and downs than most but not tragic.
2 main differences: the age - we were younger by about 10 years, and education: we met in high school and continued on to higher education.

Hello everyone. I've been a fan of the site for years and always read all of MK's rants and your comments with absolute delight! I just never really have time to post, which is why my name will probably be completely new to you. I had to take a moment to post today though, and it's because of Britney Spears. I've been busy since Friday reading all the comments on the various Britney posts and the camp seems fairly divided - the (moderate to devoted)Pro-Britney camp, who sees her as a sick girl who is/was mentally ill and needs help, and the Anti-Britney camp, who doesn't believe she's ill and sees her nutzo year as the antics of a spoiled brat. Well, after finishing watching For the Record (literally just this second), I hate to break it to the Britney defenders, but this girl is not and never was sick. It's blatantly obvious from the documentary alone - whenever she talks about THAT YEAR she uses phrases like "I lost myself, I lost focus, I lost direction, there was a part of me that wanted to rebel against all that, I never wanted to be home, when I was home I just thought I have to get out of here, when I was in my car driving I felt like I was going somewhere, I'm mad at myself for letting people take advantage of me, I made mistakes and paid for them big time, people cope with problems in different ways, I don't know what I was doing but maybe I had traumatic stress and that's how I dealt with it, I have learned from my mistakes" and so on. She never ever mentions mental illness - because she was never mentally ill! Even the ever self-aggrandazing Vadge talks about making mistakes, surrounding yourself with the wrong people, and just plain growing up, and how Shitters has done all that under a microscope. So please, to all those out there still thinking this girl was under the influence of a chemically imbalanced brain, watch the documentary and think again - she was simply acting like a spoiled teenager while also taking lots of drugs and alcohol, which combined with her low intelligence resulted in total madness. What you see now is not a medicated Shitney - it's a BORED and LONELY Shitney. Her eyes are not dead because of the meds - it's the drugs and the BOREDOM and LONELINESS, because even if she swears that she hates clubs now, you know she would just love to be able to go back to buying laxatives at Rite-Aid by the kilo, drinking 10 Frapps a day, and fucking paps with not a care in the world.

the truth of the matter is her tour will sell out in many cities and this will probably be her 5th studio album to reach #1 and she'll be over the 90 million album sales worldwide mark by next tuesday.

Cara, I only watched about 10, maybe 15 minutes of it and I couldn't take another second.
Exactly M.E., I thought the same thing (yes, I have to admit I watched it). I was amazed at how little Britney actually contributes to any aspect of her career. Somebody shows up with a new dance routine that these professional dancers and choreographers have been slaving over, and Britney just says "ooh i like that!". Same with virtually everything else. This veritable army of talent makes Britney who she is and all she seems to do is show up and put her stamp of approval on it. Ugh.
