The Party Is Over For O.J.
Well, the party isn't completely over. I'm sure he'll have a few "Drop the Soap" parties in the chokey during the next 6 years or so. A judge has sentenced him to at least 15 years for robbing a ho with a gun in Las Vegas. He will most likely serve at least 9 years.
Before being sentenced, O.J. cried crocodile tears and told the court, "I just wanted my personal things. I was stupid. I'm sorry. I didn't know I was doing anything illegal. I thought I was confronting friends. I thought I was retrieving my things. I didn't mean to hurt anybody and I didn't mean to steal anything."
Well, it looks like O.J.'s next role is in a remake of Leaving Las Vegas called Leaving Las Vegas In 9 Years Or More.
And I'll bet my entire Mother's Circus Animal Cookies stash that Christie Prody no longer has anymore "accidents." Not in the next 9 years anyway.

It doesn't matter. Either way he will be in protective custody. He will never be in general population-it would be too much of a risk to the prison to not have him in protective custody.

Now that he is incarcerated, can the Goldmans FINALLY get their settlement?

Nah, no effect. The reason he's been able to live fairly well since the 2d trial in L.A. is he's a resident of FL, which state protects his NFL pension from seizure. (Also, it was a judgment against him in the civil case, not a settlement.) Even though he'll be living as a ward of the lovely state of NV for the next 6 years or so, his legal residence remains FL. Real reason: he's the Juice!
I think you US folks need to campaign hard for the President's power of pardoning criminals to be overturned, sharpish, before Bush has the opportunity to let more people get away with their fuckery. In the UK our PM most certainly does not have the power to do this and there would be outrage if he did. To people in the UK it seems bananas that the leader of the country should have jurisdiction over the legal system. Over here, the courts have the power to try the government if they commit crimes so we'd be kind of fucked if the PM could just pardon themselves. Bill Clinton pardonned is brother? That's truly unbelievable. He got away with that without a massive public outcry? That is truly astonishing to me and it must be prevented from happening in the future.

NO!! That's the problem! Many people I know are very concerned that Bush is going to pardon those people beforehand. Remmeber Ken Lay of ENRON? He went to jail then died soon after. What Lay did is what all the other corporate giants have done. Bush will likely pardon them all before he leaves office.

Although I will say that in MY opinion, an 'average' person would have gotten the chair for the Goldman murders, with the evidence that they had.
OJ's fame got him off last time, but he couldn't just disappear, he had to throw it in everyone's faces, and figured he was bulletproof.

Yeah, fame did play a part in the not guilty verdict for his murder trial, but he had a SOLID defense team - and that will make or break a case.
And the fact that the detectives gathering evidence at the scene made a lot of mistakes didn't help either.

OJ got away with murder for 2 reasons: 1. His fame and money enabled him to get the best defense team
2. The LAPD and prosecutors fumbled this case from the beginning. Evidence was mishandled at the scene, and face it-Maria Clark did nothing to help the state convict him.
OJ thought he could do whatever he wanted to-hell, he murdered 2 people and got away with it. He thought he could skate his way through this case also.
