Coke Isn't Evil, Says Lily Allen
We need to work on making Lily Allen a U.S. Citizen so that she can become our new Surgeon General instead of that TV doctor, because she knows what's really good and bad for us. Take cocaine for instance? It's not that bad! That's what Dr. Lily claims. She opened up her rant trap again and defended the evil doer known as cocaine.
Lily said, “The only story is that drugs are bad and they will kill you - you will become a prostitute, a rapist or a dealer. But that's not true. I know lots of people who take cocaine three nights a week and get up and go to work. But we never hear that side of the story. I wish people wouldn’t sensationalize it. Some people are just bad at taking drugs.”
Lily should really teach a class in our grade schools about how to take drugs "the good way."
I'll admit that my nose has danced with the white fairies once or twice or a hundred times. Hey, it was the 80s! I was in kindergarten. It was the thing to do in the sandbox. Seriously, I dabbled with that shit and I'm not a dealer, a rapist or a postit.... Wait. Define "prostitute."
And don't mind Lily! It's just the coke that's making her babble. Throw a few lines her way, and she'll shut it.

If people reading this believe that just because a "famous" person said that coke is not all that bad and they believe her and go out and OD or something sutpid like that, then that's just evolution at work. Obviously that person was too dumb to survive.

Eh, I think what she says makes sense.
I've never done cocaine, though. But I think a lot of typical people would react to her statement with something like, "OH, that's so irresponsible!" Yet people cannot be made responsible for others with a strong predisposition to addiction or a habit to do everything to excess. It's different for everybody.
Three times a week might be a little much, but I think the major discrepancy is that those who do it or other things and DO manage to do them very moderately shouldn't necessarily be immediately judged. Trying to openly say cocaine is OK might not be as smart, on the other hand, because so many people have both a mix of bad judgement and addiction issues.
well... I am getting two things from this comment:

2. she hopes people will give her free drugs (esp. cocaine)

With all due respect (and I am glad you do not agree with her) you are in the vast minority that is actually an addict and can keep a job and relationsip with their family. Almost evey addict I know (including a few family members) are losers. Cannot keep a job, in and out of jail, losing their kids to social services.
I have no idea why you would not turn down heroin. That is some serious hardcore shit and you really risk total destruction. I predict it will be a matter of time before your whole world changes. These addictions will eventually catch up with you.

However, she's not so good at drinking.
I still remember the unpleasant night when I had to go and bail my cousin out of jail for busting up his rooming house, and then had to go to his sordid 8 by 10 "room" and collect his meager belongings. It was wrenching and severely depressing. This was the end-stage of cocaine addiction that had brought him so low--but thankfully he kicked the habit and lives normally now. People who are financially well off might seem to get by better with their cocaine addiction for a while, but not forever. The end stages are still there, waiting. For a young person to claim that it's okay to use cocaine is not surprising, but no one should actually believe that claim, or live by it. The reality is the miserable spiral downward, and the destination is rehab, jail, hospital, you name it. Celebs make headlines when they finally crash from the addiction, but ordinary people just suffer from it in obscurity and silence, and it isn't pretty.

I belive I am an addict, straight up. It's against my better judgement to use any of these drugs after being a severe heroin addict for 7 years, then spending 4 years totally clean and sober. For the last 3 years Ive been drinking, then started smoking weed, then the occasional narcotic. I know Im potentially on a slippery slope. Everytime I chose to do narcotics I know I have no business doing them, but choose to anyway. I would say I am still powerless to drugs, even though I dont do them every day.
I have a lot of work and figuring out to do in life. I don't condone drug use, aside from certain psychadelics which I belive are spiritually beneficial.
But thats alother story.
Should I be in the open thread?

Maybe you are amongst the small percentage of drug users who can deal with drugs and everyday life. But sadly, a large amount of people can't and since drugs are dangerous many end up dead/homeless/brain dead/etc. I trully hope you always manage to control your drug intake and not let drugs run your life... until you die of natural causes.
