You know, others dream about becoming teachers, fire fighters or scientists.

I usually don't mind accents as long as I can understand them, but maybe the restaurant saw their future black with this chick working there. Maybe it was her attitude, who knows.

Hekki is right: Hawaiian Tropic can choose not to hire Morales due to her look but not due to her race. That's why she's stressing race. Most of these stories have another side to them--here, the employer's side. I doubt she went there 15 times--is she dense? If she brought her mom, it was as a witness, with an eye to suing. If the manager nonetheless said silly things, HT deserves to pay up.

She SHOULD sue. But not for the reasons you think. The manager fucked up by opening his fat trap. He should have stuck to the usual line: "It's not the right fit for us at this time." He should be punished for being so stupid.

If the restaurant is selling a certain "look" and "experience", they have a right to reject someone based on their look and ability to interface with their clientele. There are tons of places where I would not be hired because I don't have the "look" they want - anyplace young and hip? I totally would not fit in. You can be the best dancer in the world, but if you're only 5 feet tall, you can't be a Rockette. Oh well, too bad. That's life.
