In NYC (sodom and gomorrah to some) hard liguor can only be sold in a liquor store, and until recently liquor stores had to be closed on Sunday.
Currently beer can only be sold from local stores (liquor stores can't sell beer) and low alcohol wines can be sold in supermarkets. You have to go to the liquor store to get the good stuff.

back a long time ago i watched several of his movies and they are to this day sooo creative and funny and sad all at once..and the magic is, its all done without speaking.
He made social comments on things in his movies that at the time wernt dared, such as in "The Dictator" and "Modern Times"

Mike: yeah, the local city councils and county officials decided that it was a good idea to sell only hot beer in our three larger "college towns" to minimize the risk of the crazy young people driving drunk
now, you could buy and drink cold beer, liquor, and wine served in restaurants...go figure?
what resulted is that most people under 21 drove 10 miles outside the county line to drink cold beer in bars that were basically gravel parking lots in the next county...who knew it would turn out that some of those underage people would drive back home after drinking late at night on 2 lane highways????
the hot beer ordinance finally got overturned after 10 years of fighting it and many car wrecks, some fatal
To this day, some states in the Bible belt do not sell wine or liquor in grocery stores, only beer...u gotta go over to that heathen state of Lousiana to get wine in a grocery store
once more, they have actually drive-thru-daquacari stores in Lousiana
it's all very confusing but not to the better drinkers
i love charlie chaplin movies, ive been known to stay up till 4 am to watch some on AMC..used to have the screenname theliltramp but i got too many pervs with that one . :)
chaplin was a facinating man, had such a horrible childhood, and rose to such fame and started United Artists. he'd be rollin in his grave to see what they have done to his company.

yeppers missouris got it goin on..my fav part is near springfield where you drive by horse and buggy amish, and they have signs that say share the road, lil kids wavin at you dressed in long black dresses. its cute!
i bought this jimmy dean skillet thing you mix with eggs, its pretty much just hashbrowns and stuff but its not bad!
Grape- I am not sure if there are still dry counties here, but I know there used to be. I think down around Springfield, Mo, there are dry counties or towns, but that is in the heart of the Bible belt. The Assembly of God practically owns Southern Mo.

Grape- I am, I am, I was on phone with my mom and had to catch up on posts. My ex would looooooooovvvvvvveeee you! He eats like a pound of sausage a day. If the drugs don't kill him, the sausage over load is bound to!

Paris Herpes- The spa dinners line had really tasty sounding stuff, but vomit central. They had like Salmon with dill sauce, more fish type things with light sauces and the sauces were ghastly!
Actually I live in between two small towns- The one which is my town has 3 liquor stores and a Mobil that all sell alcohol. They have a decent variety of hard liquor, but wine isn't real popular. The owners will order you anything you want, as long as you pre-pay, so they don't get stuck with inventory they won't sell. For good wine etc, I usually will go to St.Louis and buy. It's cheaper and it is instant gratification.
