R.I.P. Lux Interior
Lux Interior, the lead singer of the legendary The Cramps, left all of us yesterday morning at the age of 62. Lux's publicist said he died of a pre-existing heart condition in a hospital in Glendale, CA. And with this news, my rockabilly chola cousin just called in a "mental health day."
Lux founded The Cramps with his wife Poison Ivy back in 1973. It didn't take long for them to become the shit in NYC's punk scene. From there, they took over the world (including an episode of fucking Beverly Hills 90210)! Lux and Poison Ivy were the only members who stayed with the band from beginning to end.
Lux and Poison were married for 37 years. That's like a eleventy lifetimes in Punk years.
Rest in peace, Lux..... Let's all get fucked up in his honor!

I am so glad to see this on here! I loved The Cramps and Lux Interior, he will be missed. Condolences to Ivy.
@LASux: I love this photo of him... He was quite something, wasn't he? Something wonderful; and he'll be missed.
The night I opened the door of my first visit to a punk bar in 77, Lux was playing. He's one of my heroes and should've been inducted into the Rock Hall of fame.
I can`t image he can still dance by wearing such a pair of shoes, very funny

Wow fucking sadness. My pussy is definitely not doing the dog now. :(
Truly a sad day in Rock & Roll...RIP big guy.
I was quite shocked reading about it this morning. Lux, Strummer, numerous Ramones, Stiv Bators, Ian Dury... not to mention the many self inflicted deaths... My heroes are going fast. RIP Punk.

Oh my god...this is horrible.
I just recently did a burlesque number to a Cramps song - I think I'm gonna have to reprise it in his honor.
Sad, sad, sad day.

gyeah...
I forgot about that shit. though I am sure she just wears whatever her handlers say except when she's in her natural batshit crazy wardrobe of pink wig, bathing suit, TORN fishnets (she's cool ya'll).
------
True she's too fucking dumb and uncool to know about The Cramps. I meant her people, stylists, her gays, ect. jacked the idea, threw the red suit at her head and said WEAR IT!

Hey, he was only 60, not 62... but, I'm really glad you commented on this as not enough blogs did...

So, so sad. I found out about this earlier today and was stunned. For all you kids out there who don't know the legend that was (and is) The Cramps, do yourself a favor and start watching the YouTube vids. RIP Lux.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Cramps were my second favorite punk band, X being the first. RIP Lux, see you on the other side.

I love how Lux grabs Poison Ivy's guitar, swings it softly with her and kisses the headstock. Such a cute moment.

"I'll cut your head off and put in in my Fridgidare! I'm the Garbage Man!"
I went to my first Cramps show in Tempe, AZ waaaay back in 1990, at the Devil House, it was a small intimate setting and I got some really good pix of the show, and still have them.
The Cramps had a huge influence on me and my friends when we were teenage punk rockers. Their horror punkabilly offthewall style was irresistable and Lux was such a showman.
The last time I saw them was in 1992 at a venue meant for like 20,000 people but only 500 showed up to see The Cramps and Fishbone. We had them all to ourselves and Lux interacted with us and joked around. He was an exhibitionist and he didn't let us down, at the end of the show he ripped off his pleather pants and gave us all a show! I'll never forget that night, it was very special. A had a Bad Music For Bad People poster hanging in my room and the TShirt. I loved the Cramps so much, they are truly one of my favorite bands of all time. RIP LUX!
All the dorks that listen to their top 40 shit, go away, you can't have The Cramps. You tried to make the Ramones really cool and hip after they were gone and now you'll probably want to do the same thing now. But here are the rules if you've never seen The Cramps live, fucked your significant other's mouth to any of their albums or taken a road trip to the theme of "bad music for bad people" and your over let's say 24 years old then FUCK OFF it's too late for you, you never were and never will be cool.
As for Lux and Ivy this is really sad, but for 37 years she was married to THE COOLEST fucker that the WHOLE punk seen ever produced...And I don't have to ask him to rest in piece, he will, he owned.
Thanks MK for remembering Lux. I'm surprising myself how choked up I am at his passing.
I created an account just to comment on this. THANKS for being one of the only blogs to mention this. The Cramps were one of the greatest live bands ever and Lux was the BEST frontman period. He'll be missed sorely, condolences to Ivy.
Now that I've created an account here, I can't wait to comment on the next Octopussy story!! This is by far my favorite blog!
Saw them in Montreal in 1985. One of the best shows I've ever seen. My friend and I tried to pull him into the audience, but he was remarkably strong.
RIP, Lux. :(
=-=-="Come on, get happy!"=-=-=-
Sadness. :( I remember a friend turning me onto The Cramps in high school. RIP Lux.
