I don't think that Ashley celebrates the killing of unborn babies. She supports a "Woman's Right to Choose." That could to be from picking a color of lipstick to having the right to vote. "Woman's Right" falls under a variety of categories. Basically, standing against someone who's telling you to do something other than what you believe is right.

I saw this before I came on dlisted this morning, and when the topic came up, and Hasselcrack took that small pause before comparing wolves to fetuses, I knew in that second that she was going to make my head explode with some really insane statement. She really outdid herself this time. The pause, the breaking voice, the quiver of the lip, then the look of fire and brimstone...yikes!

I don't know why she's so obsessed with abortion. Making it illegal isn't going to ever make it go away--it's always been around whether you like it or not, and people will find a way to terminate an unwanted pregnancy (safely or unsafely). It's up to the individual to determine whether it's something they would do or not do. Alcohol is completely legal, but a little known fact about me is that I'm a teetotaler by choice, and it's something that doesn't appeal to me at all. That's just my value system, legal or not, it's something I don't partake in. Same with abortion. If society has deemed abortion to be legal, there's not one pro-choicer out there who'll go attack a pregnant woman and drag her by the hair to a clinic and scream "Bitch, get an abortion NOW--it's completely legal!" These are personal choices that people make for themselves and it's up to them to do what they feel it is right. If someone is getting an abortion, it's none of my business. I may not do it for myself, but who am I to tell people what to do, especially if it doesn't infringe on my rights?

I hope you all don't think Charmer is speaking for all Alaskans; I live here too, and there are plenty of us who vigorously oppose this barbaric practice.

Alaska is HUGE. Our cities and towns are not. For instance, there are two wolf packs currently living in and around my town, which is a fairly large town, by Alaskan standards. They have been coming into town and feeding on local animals. Because there is so much unsettled land here, the wolves are not naturally pressured to limit their litter size. However, packs travel large distances for an easy meal, inclduing into towns. They are able to have their cake and eat it too, sorta - - space to breed, close travel to easily captured food. Wolf litters are larger than the calves born to moose & caribou, so their numbers are (trying to be) controlled, thereby allowing the moose, caribou & town-animals to have a chance too. Your argument about breeding being inhibited by nature, as needed, isn't as effective in a place where wilderness is as abundant as up here.
