Farewell, Socks
Socks, the official White House pussy during the Clinton years, has gone on to the great big q-tip in the sky at the age of 20! Socks' time was coming since he was diagnosed with cancer of the throat back in November.
After holding it down in the White House for 8 years, Socks and Bill Clinton's sex-a-tary, Betty Currie, became roommates. A family friend of Betty's told People that Socks was put to sleep this morning in Maryland, because he couldn't eat or stand anymore. Betty took him for a last walk yesterday. She plans to have him cremated.
The Clintons issued this statement:
"Socks brought much happiness to Chelsea and us over the years, and enjoyment to kids and cat lovers everywhere. We're grateful for those memories, and we especially want to thank our good friend, Betty Currie, for taking such loving care of Socks for so many years."
Now Socks is in heaven showing Buddy who is the real HPIC (head pussy in charge).
Rest in peace, Socks....

Hey...After reading the replies to the post I made yesterday, I want to replie back. I'll just make it simple and put it all here. Like anyone else, I posted to share my honest views. One would think, after 4 years and 6 children, the teams would lighten up. (And yes, Brad has 6 SIX children, with Angie.)
I was hoping the hostility between the "teams" would diminish by now. But, it's my guess one of the personalities involved thrives on it...as long as she can control it.

Rocket; C'mon, that wasn't the context I used. You're comparing the past(which you haters JUST LOVE to do), with the present. I guess I have to say it again....I don't see JA adopting, getting pregnant, giving birth, breast feeding, caring for rest of family, including loving her man, and organizing the family life...than working on movies, traveling to promote them, and being an ambassador in her spare time...not to take anything away from JA, I'm not a fan, so I don't pay too much attention too her. Saying that, she must have many positive qualities about her...I just don't know them, except, she's a natural comedienne, I can't not notice that from time to time. I don't get what you men by "mold your life after"...if this applies....I think Angie grows by living and learning life's lessons. I agree with that philosophy.

I'm truly heart broken about this news and seeing that picture of him with the white house in the back really got to me. As a little kid growing up around D.C, we once got a post card from Socks at school with his paw prints serving as his autograph. I don't particularly know why that post card meant so much to me at the time, but it did. I still have it and always wondered whatever became of the little fur ball...I'm truly saddened, but happy to know he led a great life and is in an even better place now.

r.i. p. socks, however think about this, chelsea went to school, the clintons all travel extensively, bless them for insuring the cat had a good loving home rather then with them when they are gone all the time. betty was known to be very loyal to the clintons and they to her.

Awwww....Socks was a pretty cat. Our oldest kitty is 18 and he's doing pretty well, but slowing down a bit and getting senile...the day he dies I am going to go to pieces.

@Miss Thang-- I'm so glad you got to make friends with a cat person. I had TERRIBLE experiences with dogs as a child (when I was like 5, our neighbor's dog - a big ol rottweiler - bit me SQUARE ON THE ASS! I mean, that boy chomped down! But that was only one of my experiences...) BUT I got to meet and make friends with many dogs later in life. Still not a dog person but I am open to their goodness and I'm not afraid anymore.

I've always hated cats. I got bit and scratched by one pretty bad at a friends house in middle school. My opinion changed when I found a stray kitten under my car one weeked afternoon last summer. It is itty bitty and kept meowing. I just couldn't let it stay there :( Needless to say, I took it to a vet and got it fixed up and took care of her for some months before I had to give her to a longtime catlover friend of mine. I couldn't keep her in the house I'm living at now. It sucked letting go of her. She was my lil buddy and I looooved hearing her meow when it was her mealtime, then scoffing down the food. I loved her pretty eyes and how she would always follow me underfoot. I loved watching her in the backyard stalking lizards and pouncing around. Sometimes she would sleeping high up in the mango tree in our yard, too. So, yeah I'm kind of a cat person now. Thank God I found someone to take good care of her and I can still see her whenever I want.

@Angelica, that was the most heartbreaking thing about our cat Moochie. It was Mr. GIG's first real pet. Moochie loved Mr. GIG. He was daddy's little boy.
