RE: Robert Pattinson. I don't think he is good-looking either, although I found him very good looking in the Twilight movie. Maybe so, but I agree with the others that say our President needs to fix OUR country first, before we start worrying about policing other countries. We can't fix everything that is wrong in every other country. And truly, it is NOT our responsibility to do so. Why doesn't good ole George go over as a missionary, actually STAY there for a long time, donate his time AND money and try to fix it HIMSELF?

@ NonnyMouse: I'm not saying that what's going on here somehow out-trumps what's going on over in Darfur. I'm just saying that George Clooney needs to realize that his own personal cause (Darfur seems to be the "hip" thing in Hollywood nowadays) doesn't out-trump what's going on in this country & the mess that Obama is trying to get us out of now. This country can't even afford to take care of itself, much less the rest of the world (in the meantime, Iraq has a surplus budget).

And perhaps if George Clooney got off his old ass & actually started donating the millions he's made from just the "Ocean's" films & ER residuals he gets alone & set up his own organizations to some these causes that he cares so much about, he might be able to get more accomplished. But taking up Obama's time & whining (about something that I'm sure he's already aware of) about pseudo-intellectual bullshit to him & making demands that won't be met isn't going accomplish anything.

I simply think that this country needs to get itself back on track first before it starts going out & policing the rest of the world again. It's difficult to get people to care about or notice what's going on the other side of the globe (regardless of how horrific it may be) when they can't even afford to feed their kids.

Bottom line, work on things happening here in our own country & make them better so we can become better equiped to go out & help make the rest if the world a better place too.

And oh yeah, I think George Clooney is a massive tool. And I'd also like to thank all of my fellow d-listers for the hand jobs. You guys are awesome!!! I hope to someday return the favor.

the thing is, NonnyMouse, George and many others of these celebs are expecting the people who don't have jobs to pay for everything wrong in the world -- when these douchbags make several million for about 2 months of work - and they expect all of us to fund those careers through our entertainment habits -- it's a little difficult to pay the 50 bucks it costs to see his shit movies in the theater AND save the world - lol

I used to actually agree with him, but now he's become this narcissistic self-important prick who believes he is the know-all, end-all on global politics, when he's really nothing but an overpaid, self-righteous, holier than thou, out-of-touch with reality Hollywood star who has no fucking idea what life is like the for rest of us down here in the real world.

Yes George, we all know what's going on in Darfur is bad & that it has been ignored for the last 8 years & how much you Hollywood-types like to remind the rest of us peons of that daily, but right now people right here in the United States are losing their homes & their jobs while you continue to go out & make stupid "Ocean's" films for the gullible general public to pay to see & fatten your pockets. Rather than take up Obama's time listening to you ramble on about bullshit you think you know something about, why don't you & your butt-buddy Brad Pitt attempt to do a little more with your money than just build a few empty houses in New Orleans, hmm? Maybe donate a few million to government programs like, say, Section 8 rental assistance that suffers from so many constant funding cuts that their current employees now even qualify for rental assistance. Or maybe try to build homeless shelters & soup kitchens in the states hardest hit by the economic crisis in the U.S.? I saw a special on 60 minutes a few weeks about steel workers in Ohio (I think it was Ohio) who couldn't even afford to feed their kids. Why don't you see if you can help them out?

But I guess it's easier to sit atop your high horse & tell the rest of us what we're doing wrong than actually make a real effort yourself.
