I feel sorry for the kids for sure but give me a break.... she was a vile, vile, bigoted, stupid, arrogant, vile publicity whore right up to the end. Tears for the kiddies but certainly not for her!

she was not rude, ignorant or racist ... why don't you take some time to watch some of the videos of her before you make such judgments. she was a human being .. who came from a very hard life / bad childhood, with two small children who tried hard to overcome her past.

I read that she was warned twice about abnormal paps and never did anything about it. Then she foun out she had cancer a few motnhs ago. I'm sure the paps would have shown that whatever abnormalities she had that caused the cancer.

I just can't feel sorry for her, her kids however, how sad for them and on Mother's Day. I only ever heard really really bad things (rude, ignorant, racist) about her. Other than those stories about her, I didn't know anything about her.

i have read in several articles, mostly UK publications that she had been to the doctor several times in prior years and they never caught it.

anyway .. i didn't know about her either until a few months ago but all the interviews and videos i've seen of her, especially her wedding and preparation videos ... really touched me. i feel so sorry for her two young boys. she made them a memory box of letters and videos .. her biggest fear was that there would come a time that they would not remember her. :(

dont feel bad for saying u thought it was a stunt at first, because that's the sort of person she was. I too thought she was making a mountain out of a mole hill and there's even a forum dedicated to if she faked it or not, because she cried wolf too many times. thats what happens. people get jaded, she was well named!

Well, you know, regardless of what Jade did or said in life, she still did not deserve this, and I feel bad for her sons. She seemed like she was trying to change or make a difference at the end or something, so for that she should be commended. This is just sad, nobody deserves to die of cancer at 27.

I am going to be honest and say that I know nothing of Jade Goody other than what I heard about that Shilpa Shetty incident and what I read in a recent issue of OK Magazine (her wedding.)

However, the fact she leaves two young sons motherless is heartbreaking.

In my late teens and 20s my OB found what they called 'cervical dysplasia' and eventually I had it frozen off. Anyway they told me that this stuff is "slow-growing." All my exams have been normal since. (TMI sorry)

I wonder if Jade Goody never went to the doc for exams before this, or if it were just some kind of mutant variety of cancer that developed very fast. It is just so mind-boggling that a 27-year old died from cervical cancer. I had no idea it could be so aggressive. So sad.

ALL VACCINES, MEDICINES, NATURAL REMEDIES, etc...have the potential to cause side effects...this is common knowledge so what point are you trying to make? If a medicine has side effects you shouldn't take it? Is that your point? That's absolutely, positively and plainly stupid....whats your deal? The fact is that until the early 2000s the only correlation that doctors could find between cervical cancer and women is that cancer rates went up drastically in relation to the amount of men a woman slept with and from there it was fairly easy to make a link with HPV. Once you have HPV you have it for life that's why they market this vaccine to young girls so that they can catch it before they're infected. You can get HPV at 15 and not get cancer from it until youre 36. I dont know about others, but I havent had a pap smear in years so if I didnt have a gauardasil shot, a cancer could be growing in me and by the time I got a pap smear, it could be too late. Not everyone has the means nor the sense to get regular vaginal check ups for the rest of their lives and in those cases, preventing the disease in the first place would be ideal. Usually the body fights the disease on its own, but there's a slight chance in the range of 1% that your body will not be able to fight off a flair up and that's when u get cervical cancer. HPV is very common, in fact its the most common STD so the odds of getting it are very high and I feel once a person becomes interested in sex and boys, they need to be educated on the dangerous and the various ways they can protect themselves if they so choose....its responsible and considerate and can prevent another story like hers from happening in the future.

Do not get me wrong: I am all about disease prevention and healthcare but I'm really tired of doctors and commercials and parents trying to push this product on people.

First off, the shot was made for genital warts. That is not how they are marketing it. "This is the shot for cervical cancer!" NO. It is not a shot FOR cervical cancer. It MAY POSSIBLY prevent CERTAIN TYPES of cervical cancer. It is not a guarantee.

Also.."Between 1955 and 1992, the number of cervical cancer deaths in the United States dropped by 74%. The death rate continues to go down by about 4% per year. Half of the cases of cervical cancer occur between the ages of 35 and 45. It is rare under age 20. U.S. statistics show 3-4 cervical cancer cases per year per 100,000 women age 9-26. These are the ages on which the new vaccine was tested."

3-4 cases per year...and they're marketing it for that group. At 360 dollar treatments. Right ok. Moving on...

"The American Cancer Society reports that cervical cancer is responsible for about 1% of cancer deaths per year."

"Some cervical cancers don't have associated HPV, and most people infected with HPV do not get cancer, so HPV cannot be the full cause of cancer."

Long-term effects...

"Five subjects who got the Merck vaccine around the time of conception had babies with birth defects, whereas no birth defects occurred in this time period in the subjects who got dummy shots. The manufacturer also specifies that the vaccine has not been tested to see whether it could cause cancer. It is not known if the vaccine virus-like proteins or the antibodies pass into the breast milk. Merck says that it should not be given to pregnant women.

The longest portion of the study only lasted just under four years. Thus there is no long term data on how it affects the ability to become pregnant (fertility). This is especially concerning because the FDA has approved the vaccine for as young as 9 year old girls. The effect of artificially influencing the immune system during a time of tremendous hormone shifts of puberty is unknown. The package insert specifies that the vaccine has not been tested for altering genes in the patient or her future children (genotoxicity). "

According to Judicial Watch, 3,461 complaints about Gardasil have been filed with FDA's Vaccine Adverse Event Report System since its approval last year, 11 women died after exposure to the vaccine. That is an additional 8 deaths since the last report of 3. The complaints about Gardasil have more than doubled compared to the original 1,637 adverse events reported by Alliance for Human ResearchProtection.

Alliance for Human Research Protection reports that of the original 1,637 adverse events 371 were serious reactions, including the three original deaths linked to Merck's vaccine. A female patient "died of a blood clot three hours after getting the Gardasil vaccine." Two other reports, on girls 12 and 19, reported deaths relating to heart problems and/or blood clotting. The governor of Texas, Mr. Perry, received 5000 dollars (from Merck Pharmaceutical) closely in time to his signing of an executive order, which sought to mandate all young women , within a certain age range, to be subjected to the Gardasil medication, made by Merck.

Perry claimed it was a "coincidence". Others may draw a different conclusion.

The Attorney General let him know that he could not legally force young girls to take the KoolAid...er....Gardasil. He could only suggest it.

Gardasil was being marketed loosely as a "cervical cancer vaccine". It is most certainly NOT a "cancer vaccine". It does not prevent one developing cancer of the cervix.

Can Gardasil even guarantee that those taking the medication will not contract any of the strains of HPV? No, they cannot.

BACKGROUND AND STATISTICS
Cervical cancer is NOT the leading cause of death in women. So first off, money spent on it could be better spent on the Number One cause of death in women in the United States.

According to the CDC, because of early detection, cervical cancer has been steadily DECLINING for the PAST 40 years. Declining NOT because of the use of Gardasil, but because of the use of PAP smears for early detection.

A look at recent statistics shows not only is it declining, but when you think about the fact there may be 150 MILLION women in the United States, the numbers of diagnosis of cervical cancer are relatively small.

From the CDC we read:
"According to the U.S. Cancer Statistics: 2003 Incidence and Mortality report, 11,820 women were diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2003, and 3,919 women died from the disease that same year. 2 It is estimated that more than $2 billion per year is spent in the United States on the treatment of cervical cancer. 3For more information, view 2002 Cancers grouped by geographic area, National Cancer Institute—State Cancer Profiles, or Screening and Risk Factors Report: Had a Pap Smear in Past 3 Years and No Hysterectomy, 2004, All Races, Female, Ages 18+.-->"

So, in 2003, less than 12,000 women were diagnosed, and less than 4000 died with cervical cancer, out of almost 150 MILLION! That seems like a relatively RARE cause of death in women to me...almost 4000 out of 150,000,000.

In fact, according to the CDC, concerning HPV infection and how serious the infection is (or is not)...their website says
"Most people who become infected with HPV will not have any symptoms and will clear the infection on their own."

On the CDC website, under "IS THERE A CURE FOR HPV?"
they say this, reinforcing their previous statement.

"There is no "cure" for HPV infection, although in most women the infection goes away on its own."

Even MORE importantly, under the question
WHAT IS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN HPV AND CERVICAL CANCER?
the CDC says this:
"All types of HPV can cause mild Pap test abnormalities which do not have serious consequences. Approximately 10 of the 30 identified genital HPV types can lead, in rare cases, to development of cervical cancer. Research has shown that for most women (90 percent), cervical HPV infection becomes undetectable within two years".

Now, read the above statement again...everyone...
"Approximately 10 of the 30 identified genital HPV types can lead, in rare cases, to development of cervical cancer. " It says IN RARE CASES...rare cases...get it ?

Can the CDC be any MORE clear than saying that in RARE cases it can lead to cervical cancer? I think it is stated very clearly.

Now, we have established that it is RARE for HPV to lead to cervical cancer, and statistically, cervical cancer RARELY leads to death.

Gardasil is supposed to protect against FOUR types (strains) of the HPV virus. There are 30 types of the HPV virus. Only TEN of the 30 can lead to, in RARE cases, cervical cancer. Gardasil does not even claim to protect against half of those ten. It only claims to protect against FOUR of the ten...although they claim that those four account for 70 percent of the small number of cervical cancers linked to HPV. So, Gardasil claims to help protect against FOUR of the THIRTY strains of HPV (types 6, 11, 16, and 18), and we know that in 90 percent of females, HPV infections become undetectable in two years, WITHOUT ANY INTERVENTION.

Remember, this vaccine will not treat active genital warts or HPV-related cancers, and it will not cure HPV infection.

Possible , common side effects to women using Gardasil include, but are not limited to:

=====>pain, swelling, or stiffness in your joints.

Now, if every young girl in school HAD been able to be forced to have been given this medication by mandate of governor Perry, think of that 450 dollars multiplied by the number of girls in the age range.

Several years ago when Goody was on Big Brother 2001 0r 2002 (I can't remember the year), the British press slaughtered her while she was in the house. She was called every name in the book and eventually became somewhat of a villain/public enemy #1 for a lot of people. Now that she's gone through this and unfortunately passed, the British press will certainly be very kind toward her. They put her through waaaaaay more than she deserved.

Goody died a horrible death but I don't think it was a punishment from God. Every single day good people die from all kinds of causes and no one is talking about them.
