I Don't Like Feeling Emotion
But I felt a little while watching the first trailer for Spike Jonze's Where The Wild Things Are. It kind of feels like I ate bad oysters. Hopefully if I stick a TUMS up my ass the feeling will go away.
I think it's the Arcade Fire song and all that fur basking in the hipstery morning light. I'm so fucking easy. I mean, CGI monsters crying actually gets to me! Ugh. I just bent over and let this trailer have its way with me. But instead of doing me in the ass with loogies instead of lube, it hugged me tight. That's gross.
And now I finally know what Tammie Brown meant when she said, "I don't see you out there walking children in nature."

I'd say that Maurice Sendak's work in general was pretty epic; Where the Wild Things Are was his most popular book. He did a lot of other stuff that I wish got more attention, but he's right up there with Mercer Mayer and who was that other wonderful illustrator? Tommy DiPaola (he did Stone Soup) anybody remember? sheesh I suck

Eggers is a co-founder of a wonderful program here in SF called 826 Valencia, a sort of imagination/writing workshop for kids. It's located in the back of an awesome place called The Pirate Store. I think it's so fitting that he is involved in this movie.

I think I read that Spike Jonze didn't want to use CGI in this movie and I for one think it's refreshing.
And it's impossible not to feel something listening to that song.

Don't set up a closet and waste money on elecricity. As soon as mid may rolls around, just plant it outdoors. Put the seeds in a glass of water with just a hint of bleach to sterilize them. The ones that sink to the bottom, toss. The rest just plant in pots or even better in the ground. It's called weed for a reason. Grow outdoors.

Wow, I got goosebumps while watching it. Spike Jones is an amazing director. He's made good movies but his music videos are amazing (Fatboy Slim's Weapon Of Choice and Praise You, Bjork's It's Oh So Quiet, etc.).

I cried, too and I don't even know why. I know I read this book when I was a kid, but it didn't make much of an impression on me.
God help me if they make Mike Mulligan and the Steam Shovel, though. I'll have to get the Costco-sized pallet of Kleenex.
I don't know how to feel. It looks good, like Spike stuck to the original story, but I'm skeptical.
Allthough, my son will be really, really excited to see this. He read the book in his reading program this summer and was immediatly in love with it.
