How Did This Happen Exactly?
Did The Farrelly Brothers spend a weekend freebasing the wrong shit in a Tijuana motel room while casting The Three Stooges movie?! Because I'm trying to wrap all my body parts around this mess and it's still not computing. Control + Alt + Try again. I mean, Sean Penn as Larry, Benicio Del Toro as Moe and Jim Carrey as Curly? It looks like we've got all the ingredients for a big fat bowl of FAIL.
I could kind of see this if it was going to be some kind of dramatic biopic about their lives, but Variety says it's all comedy. The Farrelly Brothers will start shooting this when they finish the soon-to-be epic masterpiece Walter the Farting Dog with the Jonas Brothers. Fuck, the farting dog and two of the Jonas twinks would make more sense as The Three Stooges.
Jim Carrey will leave his fat suit in the car, because he's planning on adding 40 pounds of 100% chunk to his body before filming. He should just follow Kirstie Alley around for a couple of days. Kristie has Bisquick batter coming out of her shower head. He'd be Fat Fuck Jim in no time.
Does Sean even have the funny in his system anymore? I think the coke particles desecrated that shit a while ago.
I hope that in the new version, Moe is just getting back from a decade long sabbatical where he somehow magically turned into a Puerto Rican dude with permanent hangover face.
And you know Blohan is fuming over this! This is the project Sean promised they would do with Seth Rogen. Again, those three twats would make more sense than this cast.

ITA about Steve Martin as Clouseau. I almost feel badly for him. He sucked on SNL last week too.
My sister sent us his book "Pure Drivel", and it was just that. I LURVED "Cruel Shoes", but it seems as if he's run out of whatever it is that makes someone funny. He's never topped "The Jerk" in my opinion.

That's funny you say that, but you're probably right about that. Most men quote movie lines, (or lines from shows like the Stooges)women generally don't. My husband and I pick out lines of even the most stoopit movies that we find hysterical and beat them to a pulp.
There is genius even in the most idiotic things.

This movie is going to bomb. Remakes suck...even more recently Steve Martin as Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther movies...horrible.

I HATED JOE!!! We all hated Joe-what a pussy~
@NaNoop-I agree. I was just looking at the pics again. I can see Penn as Larry-I bet he will do the voice ok, Benicio as Moe-he does have a bit of him, but Carrey as Curly? No way. Not a big Carrey fan anyway.
LMAO @ NaNoop
Or I will continue to squish their Oreos and Lay's Potato Chips.
Imeanitnow!
I think I can actually see Penn as Larry. Perhaps with some prosthetic makeup and stuff, but in a way I can picture Benicio as Moe, too. Jim is the one I'm having trouble with, HOW are they gonna do that?
Oh, well. Not going to have any high hopes for them nailing their characters.

No you ain't- gots another stooge lovin' ho right here!
I'm right there with you gals! When I was a kid, they scared me. But as I got older, I grew to appreciate the Stooges' fine brand of slapstick. The dialogue is funny too. My faves are the Curly episodes. The Shemp ones are ok. And I refuse to watch the Joe ones.
"Niagra Falls" is a classic! Here's one of my faves:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwirWWnzJKM
BTW, in my opinion, in 2009 there is no way the Stooges can be fairly replicated. Give me the originals, (except Joe!), or forget it.

I know what movie I won't be watching.
Shemp was the thinking man's Stooge. I feel they should rethink the casting: what about Barbra Streisand as Larry ?
Remembering Marsha P. Johnson and Silvia Rivera.

Stoopit is epidemic. Some people are so damn dumb, there is no hope for them. Only because man has been taken out of the food chain do they exist. Darwinism will get them sooner or later, though.

Not holding out much hope for them to even come CLOSE
I'm not going to hold my breath for any semblance of the Stooges chemistry, but you never know...
Speaking of funny looking people in movies, I saw Knowing yesterday. My husband was interested in seeing it so I tagged along expecting to hate it. Nicholas Cage can't act his way out of a paper bag on a good day. Any how, aside from being constantly distracted by how unbelievable FUG Cage is nowadays (tore up from the floor up, old raggedy ass freak) the story was actually compelling in some ways. I did some crying (wasn't expecting THAT) and some thinking.
“You a motherfucker and ain’t all that.”
@ NaNoop!
Excellent point!
But stoopit people make me go WTF????????
Last week this lady was buying laundry detergent. Now the bottles are smaller and the soap is concentrated, so you use less. She told me she uses twice as much now because the bottles are so small. I tried to explain to her what concentrated meant. She ..just..didn't.. get it:S
Interesting casting choices, and it just MIGHT work.
People forget Sean Penn started in comedy.
Hell, HE may even have forgotten.
Maybe Portman poon has made him wanna laugh these days?

One more of the best-
The one with them as plumbers in the mansion with the black(of course back then)cook and he says, "This house sure gone crazy!" And his buggy eyes!!!!!!!!
I do like the Farrelly Brothers(I am originally from RI and love to see the state's references in their movies), but still, I am not optimistic.

Ain't it crazy how downright nasty and hostile some people are? I mean, forget the average everday idiots, they are bad enough. But some people are just evil and they love to make others miserable.
But, I contend- THEY are waaaayyy more miserable than those they inflict themselves on. Happy people don't fuck with others for the sake of being an asshole. So even though they can get your hackles up, the last laugh is always ON them.
“You a motherfucker and ain’t all that.”

I left a decent job to be home with my kids some years ago and decided to work at the Grocery Store at night so my husband could watch the kids and we didn't have to pay a babysitter (I also work for a doctor 2 days a week blah blah blah)
People are amazing. It's that small percentage that makes you understand people 'going postal'. At Christmastime there were times I called my Front End Manager and told her she better take me off register or there could be a serious bludgeoning occurring. I told the big store Manager he need to pat me down for concealed weapons because the shit some of these people get away with, is unnerving, to say the least.
Considering the number of 'chick flicks' there are out there I guess this is only fair.

A woman (will be 50 this year) and I LOVE the Stooges!! Grew up watching them every Saturday morning, and a marathon on New Year's Day. It was not the poking in the eyes stuff, but the dialogue. Sorry, but some of it WAS pretty funny and clever. Look up the "Bi-I-Be" song sometime.
"Hey onion head, go peel some potatoes", can still crack me up. As can, "She was born and bred in Kentucky, but she's just a crumb around here..." I could go on!!! But I won't.
Yuck. Benicio looks like Jemaine Clement in that picture. I'm going to start thinking EVERYONE looks like him after that stupid movie. Today when I walked into that FGM panel I saw some dude there setting stuff up who looked like that freaking Jarrod character and it made me smirk, too. It was mostly just that he was white, pudgy, and had dark hair in a mullet.

Farrelly Brothers still making movies? Sorry boys but you've been replaced with Judd Apatow and his lame ass douche bag crew.

I think that might have been with Fatty
Arbuckle (Don't call me Norman, call me Chubbsy Ubbsy) and Jackie Coogan. Even Robert Blake was in the Rascals at one point.
Love that old stuff because it was just kids in the neighborhood hanging out.
The time they were in a radio contest with the International Silver String Submarine Band..in person! Still cracks me up.
Saw a movie on TCM the other day with Scotty in it and Shirley Temple.
There were also episodes of Sanford and Son with Stymie in it too.
And the Bowery Boys. Love me some Slip Mahoney and Sach.
