Spread Dem Legs!
No, these are not stills from I DREAMED A DREAM: The Susan Boyle Story, it's Meryl Fucking Streep as Julia Child. Hearing Meryl do Julia's "nipple hair twisting voice" (in a good way) is worth the price of admission alone.
In Julie & Julia, Meryl plays Julia at the start of her career to her reign as the head bitch in America when it comes to French cuisine. Amy Adams co-stars as Julie, a blogger who spent 365 days trying to master all 525 of the recipes in Julia's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. That is some crackhead shit right there. Have you ever seen Julia cook on TV? Homegirl does it all. I think in one episode, she runs out into the farm and strangles a chicken with her thighs. She's no joke.
The Oscar skanks should just hand over a nomination to Meryl right now. Why bother with the flirting and dirty talk. They should all pass a nom over to international supermodel and master seat filler Phoebe Price for her work in the picture above. Chicken Cutlets is spreading those legs wide for an Oscah!

Those are WINGS she is spreading, MK, not legs!
This might be better than I thought. It's been stuck in development FOREVER, but Meryl and Amy are dreamy.
I think she is a good choice for the role.
Save the liver!!!
I loved Julia and I love Meryl. Snobbery aside, my favorite Meryl performance was in She-Devil, I shit you not. I thought she was hilarious in that.
I had those same kitchen cabinets in my childhood kitchen, same handles. We had turquoise counter tops with a stainless rim and a turquoise and cream speckled formica tile floor that mom waxed with Jubilee floor wax. And yet the dial wall phone was avocado green...ahh, 70s!!!!
Edited to add: And brown colored tone-on-tone wallpaper with coffee mills and pepper grinders...WTF mom?

Mani, "Doubt" was fantastic! Meryl is the fucking Queen. LOVE her!
Yep, i agree................but, Amy Adams ! Whatta darling ! ' Junebug ' she was sooooooooooo good, superstar ! :)
Doubt was "good" not great but she better watch herself. Sometimes she borders on camp in her roles lately. The Devil Wears Prada was pure camp. She was channeling a little bit of Cruella De Vil in that (another camp role. )Mamma Mia? kitch. I love her but where is the Meryl of Sophie's Choice and French Lieutenant's Woman or Out of Africa??? Maybe she's just having fun like someone mentioned. She has no need to prove anything. I really would like to see her on the stage though.
i think she can get Julias voice; DOUBT on my list todo..PSH is bank any time! :D
********
Well it's early but what the fuck even I can see those are wings shes spreading not legs MK! Go back to bed!
ha ha i remember my mother trying a julia child recipe and her burning it to pieces ha ha the memories
and Meryl is the queen and anything she does is alright by me!

Oh yes, because I clearly must not like Meryl Streep because a blog gave me a post to bitch about her, instead of having like, actual reasons. Whatever. You "MERYL STREEP IS THE BEST ACTRESS IN THE HISTORY OF THE EARTH!!!" people are so tired.
Yeah, Capote was a crappy movie but PSH's performance in it wasn't that stellar, either. Omg, he can lisp and mince about JUST LIKE Truman Capote did!!! AMAZING!!!! Or, you know, not so much. If it's your favorite movie, I'm glad, but that doesn't make your opnion worth more than mine. Meryl can be good but she's so overrated due to the ridiculous hype people foist on her. People haven't even seen clips of her in this shit and they're already talking about how she has an Oscar in the bag. People who think Meryl is the best actress they've ever seen really need to expand their horizons beyong big-budget Hollywood movies. Yeesh.
I watched the movie "Doubt" starring Meryl Streep. She's an incredible actress and if anyone can pull this off...it's her.

Whenever I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean I'd love to be skinny like that but not with all those flies and death and stuff. Mariah
Ahh...Ricki Lake...
Phillip's performance in "Capote" was NOT shallow...his subject matter WAS SHALLOW!!! The script wasn't about Capote's LIFE...it was about a specific TIME in his life and that man played the SHIT out of that character!!!
And I'm sorry...whenever Meryl goes on screen...she comes to FUCKING PLAY!!! She dosen't just give "technical" performances...she gives you something to chew on for YEARS to come...nuance is her middle name...so please don't hate just because there's a public forum for you to participate...
Have a nice day...
Love Meryl. She has class and keeps her business private. I've never heard a bad word about her, either.
Same goes for Julia.
Speaking of cooking show horz, remember "The Frugal Gourmet", Jeff Smith? I just adored him and his cooking (he also drank wine on the show). Then he turned out to be like a pervy closet case sexual/harasser of his male staff. Sad. he came to a sad and tragic end. Poor old Jeff.
The Oscar buzz started last year for this while she was filming. The Oscar is hers for this role. No one will be able to touch her.
That kitchen is straight out of the 70s! Love it!

Hahaha, good times...
But then he became born again, quit the drinking, and ended up with the most boring cooking show ever.

Julia Child was amazing. I fear that Meryl's portrayal of her will just be an imitation a la Philip Seymour Hoffman's Capote though - all show and veneer with little actual substance. However, that's the sort of crap the Academy loves, so expect this to garner Meryl's 17th Oscar nomination even though she hasn't been at the top of her game for years. She got nominated for THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA. She could walk onscreen, take a dump, and walk off and everyone wall fall over themselves about how "brave" and "humanistic" it was. Blah. I will still see it though because Amy Adams will probably make it tolerable.
MK -I love that you submitted that under 'Phoebe Price'.
Most suitable :)
I love Meryl. Talk about old school class.

They should recreate the classic SNL skit in which Dan Akroyd as Julia chopped his finger off. That's comedy gold.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a Damn!! "Rhett Butler"
Watching Julia Child clips always makes me nostalgic...I remember my mother watching her and Graham Kerr, 'The Galloping Gourmet'.
Unlike Julia, Graham would be smashed before the show was even over.
