So Much For That Break
Didn't say St. Angie say she was going to go away for a while, so she could raise her child army, tutor Jesus in the subject of tolerance and save a planet or something? Well, apparently her break is going to wait a little while longer, because St. Angie has agreed to play Dr. Kay Scarpetta in the film version of Patricia Cornwell's best-selling book series.
I've never read Patricia's books, but that's what Wikipedia is for!
Dr. Kay Scarpetta was born in Miami, Florida. She is of Italian descent on both sides of her family, with the Scarpettas emigrating from Verona, Italy. She is blonde, and a sharp dresser, although always professional. In the early novels Scarpetta is the Chief Medical Examiner for the state of Virginia, and works in Richmond. She resigns after the events of The Last Precinct and relocates to Florida to become a private forensic consultant. Scarpetta returns to Virginia in Trace at the request of her replacement, Dr. Joel Marcus. In Predator, Scarpetta becomes the head of the National Forensic Academy in Hollywood, Florida, a private institution founded by her wealthy niece Lucy. In The Book of the Dead, Scarpetta has relocated as a freelance forensic examiner/expert to Charleston, South Carolina. In the most recent novel, Scarpetta, she has relocated to Massachusetts where she is an M.E but she and Benton also share an apartment in NYC.
St. Angie and the producers are currently meeting with writers. The movie won't be based on any specific novel, but they hope to turn it into a franchise.
Basically, it sounds like this movie is going to consist of St. Angie aiming a gun, pouting her lips, giving sexyface, shaking uncontrollably while screaming about whatever and taking long pauses while she squints her eyes all intense-like. Rinse and repeat.
Honestly, this sounds like some "V. I. Warshawski" shit. And nothing gets better than that masterpiece of a movie.

She is a HORRIBLE actress! HORRIBLE! It certainly doesn't take talent to play yourself in a movie (Girl Interrupted), so it is undestandable she got an award for that, not to mention her turn in GIA where again, she played herself, a bi-sexual, drug addicted weirdo.
The Changeling AND A Mighty Heart were embarassing to watch (I only saw previews and that told me all I needed to know), also, A Mighty Heart was orig. meant for Aniston, as that script was acquired when they were together and they were friends with that woman before Jolie came along.
Jolie was just as ridiculous in the part as Aniston would have been.
FYI, the movie business, is just that, a business, and Jolie does not bring in the bucks that she used to. The only reason why she was nominated for an award this year was to try and sell the movie more, since it didn't do all that well initially.
The one movie that did well was Kung Poo Pnada, and it had nothing to do with her, it was a bloody cartoon that kids liked and not because she lent anything to the movie, other than her simpy voice.

I saw 'Wanted' because I will see anything that Morgan Freeman is in. I am sure Angelina signed on to do the movie because he was in it. It was not a flop. It made lots of money, but it was an ensemble cast, so she cannot claim that take on her own shoulders
I love Angie. I am not cutting her a break here, but she has not had a break-away, bonafide, runaway hit since she sucked Brad into her carnivorous poon during 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith'.
But she is not exactly shooting off flop after flop either. And at the end of the day, there are few women that can cary a film, especially an action one, and she IS one of those.

Those books are dreadful, I read like 5 for a seminar and Patricia Cornwell is a seriously bad writer. Angie will only make the movies true to the books: sucky!

Whoever plays Scarpetta would have to be very good at the subtleties of her personality and be able to get her complex nuances right. Scarpetta is a complicated person and one who has great compassion yet has seen so much horror, she tends to tamp it down. When it does come through, it's subtle and "subtle" is one thing Skankelina doesn't comprehend.

AJ does not follow the concept of Scarpetta and she is totally wrong for the role.
