Is Desmond A Creepy Lady Molester?
Desmond, Desmond, Desmond! Sit on your damn hands, man! Tickle the hole to ease a little bit of that sexual frustration, damn! I say this, because Desmond from Lost (real person name: Henry Ian Cusick) has been accused of illegally man-handling a former crew member on the show. Chelsea Stone filed a lawsuit against Desmond claiming he sexually harassed (AND SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO TAKE IT!) her on the Lost set in October 2007.
In the lawsuit, Chelsea says Desmond touched her nalgas and caressed her back while making moaning sounds (maybe he had bad Mexican for lunch?). After he finished giving her ass cheeks a little rub down, he straight-up motorboated her. Chelsea says Desmond put his face in between her breasts and "wagged his head back and forth." Um, Desmond, that kind of motorboat isn't going to get you off that island.
Chelsea says Desmond continued to fondle her breasticles and then he kissed her on the mouth.
When Chelsea complained to production, they did dick about the incident. She said that during the next few days, the other employees acted "hostile" towards her. A few days after that, Chelsea was dumped by the show and told to get her shit out of there. She got fired!
Chelsea is asking for an unspecified amount of cash from Desmond, ABC and the production company. She says she got physically sick after suffering "humiliation and severe mental and emotional distress."
Is it wrong that I was a little turned on by the image of Desmond motorboating? Yes, it is. I'm mad that the next time I watch Lost, I won't be able to fight the urge to push my chest bumps together and rub 'em against the screen. That's not right.

And that's a BAD thing?
Seriously, though, why the fuck would you just stand there and let that happen? I may be biased, but I don't believe this bitch.

How can someone youre repulsed by and dont want to touch you be able to touch your ass without you getting the eff out of the room after the first advance. How does he motor boat you without you calling for help? Then how does he get close enough to you after hes done all this unwanted stuff to kiss you?

Ouuu. I have been in some arguments over how to pronounce "harassment," however: stress on the first or second syllable. I like second. (It differs in the UK; not sure about your fair country.) This silly issue also took up many hours in the Clarence Thomas Supreme Court hearings.

Klassy. I once got fired from as a cocktail waitress three days after (at the end of my next shift - I hadn't done anything wrong, they claimed they just didn't have the work but hired another girlie a week later) my boss asked me if I knew how to spell harassment. Which I did, of course:)
@Pers: Just so you know, I wasn't offended...a few people said that and I just wanted to offer my personal experience of how something like that goes down. It's a tuff situation.

The hitch with sexual harassment is that it's always instigated by those we find unattractive. If we could all get manhandled by hot, bearded sex machines at work who wanted to treat us like total objects, I can't imagine there would much in the way of complaining.
So then by this logic if a hot guy goes around raping women, women should just lay back and enjoy it?
Submitted by Pers on Sat, 04/25/2009 - 12:40pm.
It wasn't obtuse; it's a good question. In my experience, otherwise smart, confident employees often let abuse happen. They need the job, they figure it's their fault, they might be flattered, they think no one will believe them, etc, etc. I'd say that doing nothing is far more common than fighting back.

while it was not as bad as this incident-- i did have two different guys at two different jobs harrass me in a SUPER inappropriate manner and when i complained, i pretty much got sacked at one job and at the other, i was laughed at.
i was really young both times and if this ever happened now, i would be ripping a hole in someone's ass. also, i'd file a monkey fighting lawsuit. bastards!
I've been lucky enough to never have been manhandled at a job, but I've had a few male bosses make it clear that they'd do me favors if I'd do THEM favors. I always acted very naive and innocent like I didn't understand or take it seriously, and they certainly didn't want to spell it out, so that was that. Best way to handle it, IMO. Allow them save face.
I wonder how my career would have been different if I'd taken them up on it, though...
Brotha, bring that fine ass over to MY house!

@Sheeps:
Wow. "Panty Fridays" in the 60s sounds less shocking than dancing on the table in the 90s. It just seems like they didn't really get how offensive some things could be in the way back...women's rights and all being such a HUGE part of our evolution...but by the 90s, you'd think people wouldn't still be tryna get away with that kind of thing...

Sounds correct and all too common.
I know an older guy who worked in a big Wall St office in the 60s. He said they used to have "Panty Fridays" each week. A diff female employee was chosen each week and the bosses would chase her around, trying to take off her panties. Everyone would stand around and laff.
If that sounds shocking for the era, I know of two female recent grad-school grads who, at a job interview in the mid-90s, were asked by the male bosses to dance on a table. They wanted the job so they did it.

People keep saying that but seriously. I've been harassed in this way. And fired for it too. I just didn't give enough of a fuck about the job or the issue to keep it up...becuz TADA! I knew I'd be faced with this.
I did say stop. I said it three times. Everybody laughed and then went about their business. Everybody who was there could see that I was uncomfortable and unhappy and SAYING STOP IT! No- I didn't scream and cry rape, that hardly seemed more appropriate than his actions considering the relative mildness of the assault.
But nobody did anything. All they did was make me feel like I had no sense of humour. Seriously. And I reported it, officially, quietly, without throwing the tantrum I REALLY wanted to be throwing at the time. And I got fired.

There are three sides to every story. One side. The second side. The truth. He could really be that kinda asshole, and she was hung out to dry by the higher powers. He could also not have reciprocated her advances, and she's come up with this BS. She could have egged it on & later regretted it. No one ever really knows what happens in these cases except the people directly involved.

Sheeps, I thought true SH was when, essentially, the line is "You sleep with me (or let me touch you inappropriately) or you will not get the promotion."
That's a good example but only one of many forms it takes. As soon as a superior touches an employee in any sort of sexual way, there's a risk of a SH claim. The claims range anywhere from a crude comment, to a lurid, sexualized workplace, to outright assault, to your example. There's also the category of cases, like this one against ABC, based on the company's failure to stop the SH or even firing the employee who complains.
um, I wouldn't mind being manhandled by Desmond ... bitch should consider herself lucky!
Ass smack, although out of order depending on the situation, is a relatively quick motion. SMACK! That's tough to complain about. More of a word to the side with the smacker I think.
The whole buffet of grab action and motorboating just seems a little strange. That sounds like, at the very least, a good 15-20 seconds of touchy times. If you weren't into it surely within this time you'd have protested to some degree?
--thanks awfully--
Hmmmm. I wonder if this is a case of a fling turned sour? Although firing her 2 weeks after she reported the alleged incident IS circumspect.
Sheeps, I thought true SH was when, essentially, the line is "You sleep with me (or let me touch you inappropriately) or you will not get the promotiion."
Is this, on the otherhand, really assault?
The roundest knight at King Arthur's round table was Sir Cumference. He acquired his size from too much pi.
I'd let him do that to me anytime he wants, even turn off a cigarrete on me, as well as grab my ass and make those sounds.

True, but if it happened, the employer is in trouble, regardless of what happens later. That's why I think HR should always coddle and protect anyone who reports a problem; dumb bosses often go the other way and persecute the employee.
Wait a second! She let him fondle her bosom while she's not enjoying it. What does she do? She just stands there thinking, Hmmm , this ain't so bad. I'm gonna sue in two years and make myself rich.
I'm a woman myself but always very sceptical about these s SH lawsuits. Also, how come we never hear about rich suing poor for SH? Does it feel like more fun then?
As if I'd let some Horny McGrab-Grab just up and motorboat my beautiful boobies. I would have smacked him on the head and called him a perv. What kind of dolt just stands there and takes it?

I always think that a lot of sexual harassment never gets reported unless the victim gets fired.
I think that's very often the case, mostly because the victim's more worried (understandably) about keeping her job. Of course, if she waits until after she's fired, there's suspicion that it's a retaliatory move, so it's kind of a no-win situation, oftentimes.
An old company I worked for had two incidents of sexual harrassment. One involved a female supervisor the other one a male tech.
The women in the office hated the supervisor and claimed she said something about an employees breasts.
The tech actually assualted a female employee in a similiar fashion as this dude.
Guess which one was fired the next day while the other person wasn't fired until a full investigation was finished?
Submitted by putsomestankonit on Sat, 04/25/2009 - 10:22am.
The victim first has to file a government claim (in Cali, with the Dept of Fair Employment and Housing). After the govt rejects the claim, then the victim can sue. Also, I bet the victim's lawyer has been negotiating behind the scenes with ABC to try to settle the case without suit. The lawyer has been hinting to ABC that it can pay her off now and avoid the unwanted exposure of a suit. Either the victim demanded too much bread or ABC thinks it's not responsible.
