Chris Brown's Case Might Get Dismissed
The photo that was felt around the world might get the case against Chris Brown completely dismissed. Chris' lawyer, Mark Geragos, blabbed this morning outside of the courthouse that if the beat down photo of Alien Princess RiRi was leaked by someone from inside the LAPD, he will ask that the entire case be put down.
There's currently an investigation going down as to how TMZ got a hold of the picture. Today in court, Mark asked that the preliminary hearing date be pushed back to give more time for the investigation. Mark said, "The leaks can form the basis for a motion to dismiss the case in regards to outrageous governmental misconduct." The new hearing was set for May 28th. Mark is expected to file a motion regarding the photo before then. There's also a chance that there may not even be a hearing if Chris' lawyer is able to strike up a deal with the prosecution before then.
I'm not a lawyer like Star Jones, but I'm guessing Mark Geragos is going to yammer on to the court about how the beat down photo has already made him look guilty to possible jurors....blah...blah...
That's my guess anyway. It's not like this is going to go trial. Chris will strike a deal, they will slightly tap him on the hand and tell him not to do it again. Then he'll go to anger management where he will have talk about why he's so angry and that will be that. At least that's what watching a few episodes of Law & Order tells me.

Its not that photos make him look guilty. The conduct of the police dept., giving the pictures to TMZ, so grossly trampled on Chris Brown's rights that he is entitled to a dismissal. Generally, this is seen in cases where the police use extreme physical violence with a defendant. I assumed his lawyer has it all research out to fit Chris Brown's facts but that is the general idea.
i dont really feel that anyone is acting like this is the first time a woman, celeb or not has been beat...of course thats not true. i think the problem is that: alien princess fivehead has all the resources in the world, she should have gotten away from him early on, and chris brown, just like many other men will get away with beating a woman AGAIN...its maddening and frustrating and their celebrity gives people an outlet for how they feel about the subject in general.

How could the leak of the photo prejudice a jury?! Any jury would be seeing that photo anyhow!! And worse!! Pfft - it is one thing to vigorously defend your client, it is another to try to make all laws inapplicable through ridiculous manipulations of procedural loopholes that have NOTHING to do with truth or justice. Of course, Geragos is going to try to do whatever he can to get the charges dropped, but it's entirely another thing to actually make it happen. I think Geragos is grabbing at anything he can to try to get the case thrown out for his client. That's what Brown is paying him for. Let's wait & see if a judge agrees w/him or not.
I am guessing that Browns people paid off someone to leak the photo knowing that it would trigger this to happen & help him get off.

That's something similar to what my parents use to tell us. They would say if we ever got arrested, don't bother calling them because we were raised to know right from wrong. Growing up I use to think it was harsh but now I kind of understand where they were coming from. My mom's friend has a daughter that is 21 like me. This girl stays into trouble and everytime she gets arrested, her parents run up there and bail her out. My dad said, "if they had let her sit in there for a while the first time, it would have been the last time. Sometimes tough love is the best kind of love." She keeps screwing up because she know her parents will always be there to bail her out. Pathetic.

TMZ or any other press had no business publishing that photo. They should report on how they helped a wealthy abuser get his case dismissed. Please, they did not publish the photo to raise awareness about abuse; they did it for the money and sensationalism, the latter of which leads to more attention, hence money, for them.

If you only knew how many cases get thrown out of court because of technicalities like this, you'd be astonished. This is why I decided not to become a lawyer. Our system is so fucked up. If you have enough money, you CAN get away with murder.

How does the way in which the photo was released affect it's validity as a piece of evidence? I mean it's still is a valid photo of her face all beaten up...what does it matter if a cop leaked it or a random hospital worker or what, it doesn't make the photo go away or reverse what was done to Rihanna. Pfft, I KNEW somehow this case would just disappear & he wouldn't get any proper punishment or learn anything from it at all.
The actual court case is really irrelevant at this point, because we all know he is not going to get any serious time, if any.

No shit, I hate jurors in my county, its fucking ridiculous here. I have to sit in on trials for my law classes and I sit there from start to finish watching the same exact shit and the juries let the bad guys off every fucking time. High profile cases too.
Ironically, I have jury duty Monday. My law professor says there is NO way I will be a juror (he's a prosecutor for the county) because I make too much fucking sense (lol) and I have a hang em' high mentality.

I just drove past Morton Plant on Friday on my way to the bay in Belleair. I fucking LOVE that drive.
