R.I.P. Dom DeLuise
TMZ delivers the shitty news that the awesome Dom DeLuise passed away in his sleep last night at a hospital in Los Angeles. They don't know what the cause of death is right now. Dom was 75.
2009 is taking away our all funny legends. Fuck '09.
Dom starred in ten zillion hilarious movies including The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, The Cannonball Run, The Cannonball Run II, Blazing Saddles, History of the World, Robin Hood: Men In Tights, Spaceballs (as Pizza The Hut) and Silent Movie. Dom was also my favorite host of Candid Camera.
Thank you for a million laughs, Dom! You will be missed.

"Sheer Luck!" funniest movie, and funniest guy ever DOM DeLuise. RIP big guy.

That was Paul Prudhomme.
My dad passed away three years ago, when my daughter was 4. She was just old enough to understand he was gone. When I was young, my dad and I watched the Muppet Show every Saturday night (before I went out and got drunk and snuck home. Nother story). Anyway, to me, The Muppet Show means good times with my daddy. So I bought a bunch of episodes on video on Ebay, and I told the Diva that her Gramps loved the Muppets, and we started watching them every night.
Her very favorite ep, hands down, was the one guest starring Dom DeLuise. She wanted to watch it over and over and over. "That Dom DeLuise sure is funny, mommy!" So I wrote my first fan letter in 30 years (last one: Tim Matheson, pre-Animal House days. Yes, I'm old) and I told him about my daddy, and the Diva thinking he's hilarious, and we got an autograph picture back.
Forgive the long post, but I had to share. Gonna try to find some of his movies that she can watch. There's one with Doris Day I can't think of right now. He was a genuinely good guy as well as a great talent.

The war isn't working.
This was a really funny man. And, from what I've heard, a very nice man. It's terrible when good people leave us, because what we're left with is the hiltons & lohans & spears of the world; untalented, arrogant, stupid & slutty. And, that truly sucks.
RIP, Dom; you will be missed.
I loved his Mel Brooks movies. I still laugh so hard in the scene from Blazing Saddles when he's directing the dance sequence at the end and shows them how to do it. "Watch...me...faggots...."

Yes, a very under-appreciated movie. I always keep an eye out for the dvd in used dvd stores.
I recall seeing a fairly young dom play a part in one of the episodes of the munsters.

I know it's one of his lesser appreciated films, but when I was about 12 I saw "The End" and thought it was just utterly hilarious.
Aw, this just plain stinks. I loved him, he was very funny and always seemed so sweet.

I know it's one of his lesser appreciated films, but when I was about 12 I saw "The End" and thought it was just utterly hilarious. Dom was fantastic in it. since then I've watched it many times over the years and still see the hilarity but also grew to see the sadness in it, too. I think it's a great movie, is one of my favorites and has a special place in my heart.
RIP Dom
When I was a kid I saw Dom in a play with the Kenley Players in Ohio. After the play he graciously and with a lot of laughs signed autographs. I remember him asking my name and he felt all fatherly to me. He will definitely be missed. I lost my own father this year so I want them to meet up together.
Dom, you will be missed.
2009 = sucktastic
Oh no. :( I liked him. RIP.
RIP Dom, responsible for some of my favorite real belly laughs. You will be missed.
Now that's what you call a true comedienne. Fatso has kept me laughing for many, many years, he truly will be missed. RIP DOM!
He can't hear you.
SO SAD, I have loved this man my entire life. The world is way less fun and funny now. He found that Rainbow Connection in the swamp with Kermie, you'll be missed DON!
RIP Dom...08 took out a shit load of people and legends itself. 09, you can stop now. Let's not keep it up.
Aw man that really sucks...he will be missed..RIP
Damn! DOM!?!?!

Loved you, Dom. Thanks for a million laughs.

Well, son, I predict it's because he was grossly obese. I LOVED the man, comic genius, but sooooo fat.
I was working 2 blocks from the beach in Santa Monica a few years back (2001 maybe?) and Dom came in to use our bathroom. He was really sweet and funny, even in the 5 minutes he was in our office, but his fat muumuu-wearing ass BROKE OUR FREAKIN' TOILET. Seriously. He was really good-natured about it and jokey, I'm guessing it wasn't the first loo he'd demolished.
R.I.P. to this sweet and funny man. I can't believe he was 75, he seemed perpetually 50.

In honor of DD's departure, I will chow down on this recipe
"from our "Hassle-Free" cookbook
Dom's Zucchini Pancakes ... Enjoy this with your chicken.
It's my wife, Carol's, favorite way to have zucchini!
3 medium zucchini, shredded
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 cup flour
2 tablespoons Dom DeLuise Italian Blend
olive oil
Place zucchini in a colander and press out water. Place
zucchini and onion in a large bowl. Stir in eggs, flour and Dom's
Italian Blend. In a large skillet, heat oil. Drop rounded
tablespoons of zucchini batter in hot oil. Cook two minutes on
each side and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately."

"Junior, get the lemon" !! I love that scene!!!!!! The Fattie rescue people...what was their name?????
I actually cried tears at his performance in Fatso, a film directed by Anne Bancroft back in the 70's. Full of pathos, a very fine job.
Damn. This one gives me sadness.
Hey Crazy, is that you B?
Rest In Peace, Fatso!!!!
"Junior, get the lemon!!!!"
Dom was another true class act. All of my 70's favorites are dropping like flies now. Bummer!

Dom, rest in peace buddy, I shared hundreds of laughs with you over the years! Even my kids loved you as the Dachsund, Itchy in All Dogs GTH and the lovable hero Jeremy in The Secret of the Nimh. Here's to you buddy!
"Throw out your hands, stick out your tush, hands on your hips, give em a push!"
So sorry to hear. RIP Dom......you were funny as hell!
This makes me sad. I'm gonna have to read the "Pam Ewing" story again to balance me out. That shit is still funny.
So sad. I always thought he was cool, because he guest starred in an episode of Stargate.
That episode was hilarious...
