Aubrey O'Day: Yay For Gays Rights, Nay For Dog Rights!
Aubrey O'Day, the former member of Danity Kane and current used up foundation puff, posted this picture of her suicide watch dog, Ginger, on her Twitter yesterday after the Supreme Court upheld Prop 8. Aubrey wrote: "PASS THIS ON! LOVE DOESN'T DISCRIMINATE, LOVE IS EVEN FOR PUPPIES! NO on PROP 8!"
While the post-its slapped all over Ginger's nether regions and paws say "NO on Prop 8," her eyes say "YES on euthanasia."

I absolutely agree with you Sparkle586. So well said. The activism for Prop 8 last year was done so by emotion and not logic. Thankfully this time around there are groups joining forces from across the country to band together. From teachers, to lawyers, to law makers and normal 'civilian' citizens who are being told to engage in conversation about this with their neighbors and friends. It is especially important for minority gays (like myself) to get the vital message across to our minority relatives that the pains, struggles, heartaches, discrimination, and fight you've had to fight for all your life is the same one, if not to a heightened degree, that gay individuals face every single day. Heck, a man was shot outside his own garage after being called a "fag" and died in the hospital the other day. Propositions resembling that of Prop8 are only giving the ammunition to further promote that type of tangible discrimination which *SHOULD NOT* exist in 2009 going on 20 (fucking) 10!
Why does history constantly have to repeat itself? Are we as human beings this absent minded, and frankly FUCKED UP that we need to choose a new group of people to poke at in order to feel better about ourselves?
Gays were born as they are just as my family was born with the skin complexion they inherited. Imagine the disenfranchisement for gay MINORITIES who have a double dose of pain. It's time for the fighting to end. For people to realize you are no better than anyone else for being born differently than what they inherited, and for us to live in a harmonious society EMBRACING each others differences while rewarding everyone with "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" not just those who look as we do, pray as we wish, and do as we say.

They say part of the reason we lost Prop 8 back in November was the hateful Mormon influence (from out of the state), the other was red necks in the Inland empire, and the final slice was uneducated folks in poor areas. Judging by your writing, it's easy to pin-point where you fit in that equation.
Gay rights won't be going anywhere. We won't be silenced. You and your ignorance won't dictate how millions of Americans who are gay will lead their lives. I don't see it as just a marriage issue. It's a human rights issue and no section of the population should be denied the same rights as others based on the fact that the majority deems themselves righteous. Marriage is just a vehicle to push for equality and there's nothing wrong with that. It's no different than women pushing to vote or the black community pushing against segregation. It's just another minority in this country moving forward for equality with a tangible agenda.

No matter how 'normal' or social acceptable a child's family, of the child themselves seem, there will always be something to pick at. Kids are pretty fucking mean. I doubt it would make a huge difference if someone had 2 daddies or mommies. There will always be the potential ther to be ripped apart.
I know I was in junior high. It actually scarred my self-esteem for life. I was one of four white-looking students at a predominantly latino and black school. Everyday I was called honkey, cracker, white trash, hippie, etc. It didn't matter that I was half-mexican with the surname Sanchez...

One hundred years from now (if not sooner), the world is going to look back and say how backwards we were ever to wage such a fight for this long, because it is inevitable and only a matter of time before gay marriage is a part of everyday life just like mixed marriages (and yes, 'bad names') have become.
No child is immune from ridicule, no matter what his or her socio-economic status is, gay/straight/rich/poor/blac/white/fat/thin) as there is always something to pick apart and dissect about anyone.
If gay people marry and stay married for 2 seconds, they should still have the right to divorce just like anyone else.
