I always wondered if they didn't get the idea for this comic from the whole Debbie Reynolds (nice, blond with pony tail) and Liz Taylor thing (rich, dark haired vixen). It was all over the news years earlier.
My 1st 45" as a child was copy of "Sugar Sugar" cut from the back of a box of HoneyComb Cereal. Because the record was on the back of the box, the industry had to count that as a record sale & "Sugar Sugar" ended up being the #1 song of 1969 "outselling" the Beatles & The Stones that year LOL.
Listening to their very underrated albums of bubblegum /surf punk/60s Psychedelic sounds , I cant believe they CEOs of Archie Comics havent tried to make it happen again. I met Joey Levine who was a sessions drummer for all their albums who told me they recorded all 4 of their albums in less than 6 weeks! and in turn showbiz fistfuckery , was paid only a sessions fee for his work.
Cartoon bands ROCK ! seeing their youtube clips recently its amazing also how trippy they were , its like LSD hippies were doing kids TV.
