Finally: A Little Lafayette
For those of you skanks who have not finished season 1 of True Blood yet, might want to skip right off of this post, because I might drop a spoiler or two. And my inbox has met its daily quota for "Damn you motherfucker" e-mails. Save it for tomorrow.
All the promo shit I've seen for the second season of True Blood has been missing a very important bitch: LAFAYETTE! Yes, I already know that Lafayette is de-de-de-dead. Some dumb ho who read the series already told my ass that he gets killed off in book two. I still don't want to believe it's true! There has to be a way for Lafayette to return! Can't they make his ass a bitchy zombie? This cannot be the end for Lafayette!!!! Oh well. It was nice to see pictures of his ass at the premiere last night even though he was dressed like the "cool" substitute English teacher in high school.

WHO ORDERED THE HAMBURGER WITH AIDS?
I started reading the books after I watched the season and am on book 7...I looove them and I looove the tv version. The series is taking a lot of freedom from the book's storyline so I got a funny little feeling that Lafayette is still alive.
HE IS TOO FUCKING HOT HOT HOT SHIT TO FUCKING DIIIIE!! I saw the interview where Alan Ball made the comment that everyone who has read the books knows that Lafayette dies and to me that CONFIRMS that Lafayette will live the fuck on in the TV show. He would not have made a comment like that to spoil season 2 for those who have not read the books (even though it's common knowledge now I guess). Lafayette is one of the most interesting characters EVEEER created and the actor who plays him is the star of that damn show.
Bon Temps is just not the same without Lafayette. Losing Rene was bad enough now this? I'm over it.

God, where do I start ? the writing - lame, sucks, hate Anna P's portrayal of Sookie (that accent makes my ears bleed), hate Bill (whining & morose - not hot. Kill him off already and put him out of his misery.. Lafayette is okay, one of the better characters. But Eric is the ONLY one who makes this show worth watching. If they kill him off, it's all over.
My apologies to those those folks who think this show is the shit. I couldn't agree less.

Why does 'Jason's' hair look like a 70's porn star? Yuck. They all look a little gross, though--except fake-Cajun dude and Bill look pretty much the same.
I kept thinking I wanted to watch this show but I only finally saw it when tuning in to the last two days of last week's marathon. Pretty great--I would say I wish someone had made me watch it earlier, but then I would have just been annoyed about having to wait so long. It made me want to read the books even though I wouldn't want to do it before seeing corresponding episodes.

I love you for bringing that up. I looooved R L Stine books...they scared the shit outta me, but I still read them, in the day time ONLY. I still have those books and the art on the cover was always mind blowing for me, I would stare at them and find some interesting details. Like the skeleton family picnic, the little skeleton dog with the bone...oh memories.

I hope that's the case! Lafayette did die in the beginning of book 2, but Alan Ball has already veered away from the books in soooo many ways. If he knows what's good for him, he'll have kept Lafayette around!

You are right, Alan Ball has changed alot from the book. I don't even know if Lafayette was African American in the books (I know Tara was white).

Snowy, yes, do try watching again! I love this show, but I'll be the first to admit that things were a little slow during the first part of the season. Once you get to episode 5, however, the action picks up. You'll be hooked :)

I hope that's the case! Lafayette did die in the beginning of book 2, but Alan Ball has already veered away from the books in soooo many ways. If he knows what's good for him, he'll have kept Lafayette around!

The writers need to make him like Laura Palmer where he gets lots of flashbacks or a twin blows into town.

There was an HBO special recently where Allan Ball alluded to the fact that in the book Lafayette dies, but that the show is different from the book. Do with it what you will. Hopefully they realize that he was as popular as he was and do something with his fine ass.
