Enough With Don't Stop Believin'

"Don't Stop Believin'" is one of my favorite songs and obviously I'm very un-original, because it's everyone's favorite song. That song is eeeeeeeeverywhere. It's like the anthem of the damn world! Every bitch covers it! Every bitch also sings it at karaoke. Don't act like you haven't! I think it's the unspoken rule of life that you have to sing it publicly at least once. Ellen Page, Alia Shawkat and Har Mar Superstar of Whip It! decided they needed to follow that rule and uploaded their own version to YouTube.

I'm pretty sure this is supposed to suck in a completely ironic way. You know how those hipsters do it. I got through the whole thing, but it wasn't easy. Every time I hear this song I still think of that scene in Monster where a fugly-fied Charlize Theron and Alien Head Ricci awkwardly slow dance in the skating rink. So picturing that scene while listening to Ellen Page's "cat in heat" yodel totally confused me.

I just wish Ellen & Co. went with another Journey song that needs a little loving. Maybe "Only the Young." What's wrong with that song? Does it have big hips and an overbite? Is that why nobody pays it any attention? But I shouldn't talk.

I've tried to quit "Don't Stop Believin", but it's impossible! I tried to leave it and search for something else that hasn't been around the block a zillion times, but I can't!! I'm whipped.

I'm with Aiken on this one.
It literally made my ears bleed.

That's my tooth. Why do you have that?

Oh and Vision Quest was the shite. Also it had Sammy Hagar's "I'll Fall in Love Again" one of THE most underrated songs of the 80s

Here's a rad video with Alia, Har Mar & rapper Prodigal Sunn.

Am I alone in thinking Ellen Page has one of the most prettiest faces in Hollywood right now? She is just so gorgeous in a quiet kind of way.

Is it wrong for a man to have a sugar baby or a woman to have sugar daddy??

It is an absolutely extramarital relationship, but more and more services came out on Internet focusing on this kind of relationship.

such as --- http://www.SugarDaddyChat.com/---

it's the biggest sugar dating site for beautiful woman and rich man!

EH, you wouldn't know happiness if it facefucked your gaping maw.

Hey, I love Only the Young! Vision Quest was one of my favorite movies of 1985 or something.

Whoever the guy is (Tiny Tim come back to life??), he's actually pretty good! Give him a few lessons!

My favorite Maybe Fuque moment was always:

MF: Where do I get one of those necklaces with a "T" on it?

Michael Bluth: That's a cross.

MF: "Oh, across from where?"

I also vote for Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'... a pathetic excuse for an actual song but fun as hell.

Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' - now THAT's a cut!

Don't they know the only way to cover 'Don't Stop Believin' is with intense enthusiasm and fist-pumping. Fucking hipster. They ruin EVERYTHING.

megank - I love Journey, too. My old office mate and I would have 'Journey Fridays'. Every Friday at 2:00 we'd play a Journey song. We actually became really good friends with our coworker because a week into the job, he ran into our office while we were playing 'Anyway You Want It' and danced exactly like Rodney Dangerfield in 'Caddyshack'. Then he walked out without saying a word. It was AWESOME.

I think Ellen Page is the hotness but she didn't even try, that's why I appreciate the fat ugly guy singing along with her because he was into it and probably remembers when the song first came out and shit. Yeah...I caught myself singing along because I love the cheezy ass song...I remember when it was HUGE...well I think I was 6 or 7 but I loved that 80s shit back then. I heard Journey reunited sans Steve Perry tho! LOL! So that Don't Stop Believin' Song will be back at a concert near you!

That's one of my faves too. I think 'Separate Ways' is my favorite Journey song though...or maybe 'Open Arms'...I dunno, I love Journey.

"Any Way You Want It" is a much better Journey song.

I was totally offended by the video tho...

It's a beautiful white girl and a beautiful white boy singing the lead and the back ups? A fat black girl, a chubby asian girl and a gay. On guitar - a paraplegic.

I guess I'm supposed to know that the leads have anxiety disorders or something...

Actually, Disraeli Ears is in memory of my Corgi who passed last year; the cutie in my avie is his sister, Andy, who just ate and is on her way over to burp in my face....charmingly, of course.

Hi everyone - long-time reader, new poster.

I have satellite radio and, every day during my commute, I catch that song on one of the stations I listen to. And if I don't catch and change it before the first chorus, my brain forces me to listen and enjoy.

Goddamn Journey.

Sorry people I HATE HER. I hate her so much. No base for it. Just one of those hatreds that happen to be.

BTW watching Juno does not make you indie nor cool =D

Yeah, I see your point. I enjoyed the music that was used during some parts of the movie. It wasn't the typical stuff. My husband and I have both been out of work for some time and are not able to get other jobs, so we have been watching a lot of movies, lol. I just saw The Reader and Revolutionary Road. I thought both were great flicks. What did you think about those?"

I haven't seen either of those flicks. Right now (at the moment) I have "Kill Bill Vol. 1" (since I can't find my copy) and "How I Met Your Mother" Season One Disc One at home from Netflix, but I do plan on checking out those two. I love Kate Winslet. Juno is just meh at best in my honest opinion. Maybe I didn't have too much teenage angst growing up, so I can't relate as much as the "average person." And good luck trying to find some trabajos. There are jobs out there, it's just the "market" is so damn competitive. Blah. Will think of you two in my thoughts to the "big man in the sky!"

:( NOOOOOOO...well, except for the guy, he's kinda great, actually. I LOVE Ellen P but, her take on this song blows, who sounds or sings like that? WTF?? I get it if it's a joke but, still, why??

Is there no respect in this world? In 1984 this was my very first concert and I showed my -A cup tits for God's sake? This is blasphemy!!! LOL!!!

I didn't know people really liked Journey songs. I thought the longevity of that music was sheerly due to how cheesy and hilariously bad it is.
