I don't think she deserves the hate - she clearly has some emotional and mental issues. I agree that fame isn't for her, she should cash her chips and go home to enjoy the quiet life.

I feel her pain with the cat, I am a young, sociable attractive girl (there, I said it) in a stable relationship and I still desperatly love my cat and miss her when I'm away, as does my boyfriend. And she misses us! With pets you reap what you sow - love them and they love you back. She craves our company and follows us, 'chats' and snuggles between us at every opportunity. I think it's sad that people get ridiculed for loving their dogs and cats a great amount - it's a good trait in a world so full of bad ones.

But yes - it is clear that Susan is 'delicate' and needs to get out of the spotlight.

Susan is not cut out for fame, which I won't hold against her. Some people aren't. However, all this last minute cancelling is bullshit. She needs to just quit, go back where she came from, and forget about show biz.

This woman isn't worth the effort. It's one meltdown after another. I don't even understand how they get many people to come to the shows that she's 'bowing' out of, because isn't she basically the main attraction?

I can't disagree with a number of comments relating to her being emotionally/mentally a bit under par, but I must admit my own emotions seem to be 'childish' despite my best efforts, and at age 50, I am not so sure that is going to change.

There seems to be a dynamic now whereby the more of a hash the performer makes of their lives, the more of a celebrity they are. Whatshisname sure did a heck of a job when he picked here--between her ugliness, above average singing, vulgarity, and inability to meet a performance schedule, she is a one woman reality show.

I guess to be compassionate for a moment, she needs a manager who protects her and doesn't exploit her (admittedly not a common trait among entertainment managers). She obviously can't handle the stress of what they have going for her now.

I completely understand. This lady, too, is self-sufficient, but grade school level is the perfect way to describe her actions. It's like she doesn't know how to process adult emotions.

She reminds me of my mother, who wasn't oxygen deprived but was abandoned, raised by a grandmother who resented her and actually sent her to an orphanage for a few years, and basically had no exposure to appropriate social behavior. One of the men in the program I volunteered for, he acted the same way as the person you mentioned. He told me he had a crush on me, but all his affections were on a very grade-school level. He would like pick dandelions and give them to me, or would want hugs all the time.

Like, he could take care of himself and had a job as a cashier, but emotionally, he was like a kid.

What a shame this poor woman isn't cut out for the life she could have. There's an old quote, "Fame is a harsh mistress" that comes to mind. I hope she doesn't suffer permanent damage from trying to push too hard too fast.

Given her worrisome state of mind and the animal in question, it's interesting to note that the two songs that she sang on BGT were from shows called "Les Miserables" and "Cats".

This is very interesting. I know a woman very much like this whose mother was older when she gave birth. The woman is very sweet, but emotionally it's like she never moved past about 11 or 12 years old.

She has a crush on one of my friends, but really doesn't know how to express her interest in him. So she ends up smothering him with attention to the point of making it uncomfortable for not just him, but everyone around. It's just kind of sad.

shes the yongest of 11 children and her moter was 47 when she was born and during hte birth she was deprived of oxygen. so im sure it had some effect on her mental capacity.

ITA. My ob/gyn told me at age 44 she thought about having another baby, but with the birth defects (mental/physical) likelihood at her age it was too high. Changed her mind. A mom @ 47 is WAY likely to have a baby with problems.

I've been to Vegas a few times and seen my share of shows. To succeed in Vegas, you need to have moxy, a strong work ethic, great stage presence, and be able to roll with the punches. Susan has NONE of that. Vegas and Broadway are the two most grueling jobs for a performer. She couldn't handle it!

At this point, why doesn't our country degenerate completely and just start having reality shows where we mock the handicapped. Because these "Got Talent?" shows and American Idol are just about there.

Since BGT knew from the minute she opened her mouth that they would be taking her on tour they perhaps should have made arrangements for her. They could have had someone who works with special needs folks tag along with her weeks ago to figure out what she would need to adjust to touring and what she could and couldn't deal with.
