Farrah Fawcett Has Passed Away
After a long battle with cancer, Farrah Fawcett has passed away at the young age of 62. Ryan O'Neal and her good friend Alana Stewart were both at St. John's Health Center in Los Angeles with Farrah when she died. While leaving the hospital, Alana told ET, "I just lost my best friend. Her death was very peaceful."
Ryan released this statement: "After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away. Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."
Farrah is survived by her 24-year-old son Redmond.
We were all expecting this, but it still brings the sads. Farrah was a funny, talented, vibrant and beautiful lady! And she had good hair. She had really good hair.
May Farrah rest in peace.... And this is totally cliche, but it's the only thing I can think of right now: Heaven gets another angel.

I've always thought she was one of the most beautiful women off all time.
I still remember the summer of 6th grade when an older cousin had that famous poster in his room. His sister, my sister and I always snuck in to look at it...

Stock,same here; I used to love Ann Rule. I still have a few of her older books, including "Sall Sacrifices." I also wanted to be a cop growing up. You and I always seem to have a lot in common, mi amour! ;)

It is very sad, her passing. What gets me is for years she was the butt of Hollywood's jokes,and now that she has died, the very same people (Hollywood types) is singing her praises. My God they even ran an alert on CBS at the bottom of the screen about her passing. Fucking two faced people! They make me want to shake them!

I got to see Ann Rule's show in Seattle, stocky, and she is sooooooo FUNNY! She was talking about her writing, but it was more like a comedy show. She even said she was going to get into comedy writing and retired from true crime, but she hasn't yet. She's an awesome lady, just a regular person. But she does have a permit to carry a gun and has body guards with her. I never did get to ask her if she's had threats, but I imagine that she undoubtedly has.
On topic: this is still a bummer

Because the liver has so so so many work processes going in your system.
Read it up -it may suprise you.
The liver is basically your body's washing machine to make it very short.

Why would metastasized cancer of the liver be mor deadly than just having liver cancer to start off with?"
Metastisized cancer is always more deadly than primary cancer. Unfortunately, I have alot of experience with loved ones cancer. My mother died of cancer when I was in my early 20's and my best friend died of cancer this past October at the age of 45.
Once a cancer mestastisizes, that means it is traveling around your body and not just set in one spot. It can show up anywhere once it mestastises and it is very hard to get rid of once it does that. Once you get rid of it in one spot and everything seems good, it very likely will show up somewhere else, many times not for years.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My understanding of cancer is that all cancer is curable as long as it is caught early enough therefore if you have it in one place and it metastisizes; You knock out the places where you know its at then you do an intense radiation therapy or stem cell therapy or something to knock out the rest of the early stage cancer that is in the body....why isnt this kind of treatment more effective?
I was a huge fan of hers as a kid, it's always sad to lose someone you grew up watching and was such a great and happy part of your life. Rest in peace Farrah. : (
I'm glad that wedding didn't go thru. But then, did he just say that to hopefully keep the press away so they'd think she was still doing ok. I also question her 'friend' Alana. Was she really her friend?
What saddens me the most, is in the last months of her life, her life partner and son were arrested for domestic abuse and drugs. That is not something a dying person needs to deal with.
------------------------------------------
That's the jarring thing about her life. Although she seemed to be quite aware about how women get sucked up by abusers, she never quite broke free from the douche wad in HER life. It seems she was too schooled in the stand-by-your-man-isms to quite break free. And worst of all put his needs/whims at times before her and his children's well-being, at least their emotional well-being in the long run.
And I'm also relieved she didn't get to (wasn't dragged comatose) marry that bloated mofo.
Come reading for you...
http://www.lifesteps.com/gm/Atoz/ency/liver_cancer.jsp
"Prognosis
Liver cancer has a very poor prognosis because it is often not diagnosed until it has metastasized. Fewer than 10% of patients survive three years after the initial diagnosis; the overall five-year survival rate for patients with hepatomas is around 4%. Most patients with primary liver cancer die within several months of diagnosis. Patients with liver cancers that metastasized from cancers in the colon live slightly longer than those whose cancers spread from cancers in the stomach or pancreas."
Your liver is your body's filter, if it stops working, you die. If your body cannot filter, you will become septic and die.
So, cancer of the liver = 0% mortality.
M.E. ~ Koko is getting BIG...she's so damn cute.
Oh..and my comment below are about Ann Rule, the author of crime books who used to work with Ted Bundy.
Rest in peace Farrah.
Having experienced the death of family members to cancer leaves you with scars and can't help but feel even more aggravated when hearing of anyone that dies because of it.
Interesting that in an interview I saw with her recently she said she wanted to scream "anal cancer" because she said people were embarrassed and uneducated about it (HPV virus strikes again) and sure enough no mention of death here or on the national news on the radio I just listened to, just that she died.
Death pool watch: P. Swayze and Steve Jobs (pancreatic cancers, Jobs just had his metastasized cancer liver replaced with a shiny new one, because he could) and Walter Cronkite (Ed MacMahon disease, i.e., old)
Dude. You're asking why anal cancer + liver cancer would be more dangerous than liver cancer. Cancer in more parts of the better = more dangerous. It's not that hard a concept to understand. Metastacization is bad.
~!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!~
Makes sense, but 0% mortality rate? seems like Ive heard of people with metastasized cancer who have made a complete recovery, why is metastasication of the liver so deadly?"
No idea, but having cancer in some organs is more dangerous than others. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most dangerous forms, few people survive it long-term. Perhaps some tissues are more easily permanently-damaged than others? I dunno, not a doctot her.
Even though Jaclyn Smith is still my favorite angel, Farrah's death feels like a piece of my childhood just died with her. Sad indeed. I am glad she got to prove she had more in her than good hair and a great smile.
She definitely showed her acting chops in 'The burning bed'. May she rest in peace.
I have to say, she was extraordinary in "The Burning Bed" when she fried up Paul LeMat in that movie. She was very good in that role.
Sorry to hear that she went through so much with her son. Seems like a mutated family trait that that family so so hooked on drugs.
I LOVE BUSTER!! OH, BUSTER!! Remember that time you had secsy times with Liza Minelli?
==============================
1) Her name is Lucille 2.
b) Her nausea got in the way. Well, I referred to it as 'our' nausea, which I think gave her the impression that we were in a serious relationship, which made her want to have relations with me.
DD - And also what my mother is dying from. She had bone cancer and it spread to her liver.
EH- Please, for the love of God, do not be ignorant about this. My post said that her liver cancer spread from the anal cancer. Hence it being secondary, not primary. Anal cancer first, liver cancer second.
------------------
That's what happened to the co-worker.
He was diagnosed with colon cancer that had spread (aka "metasticized") to the pancreas AND liver.
@ EH:
Symptoms - a lot of diseases have similar symptoms. That's why when you "present" with a particular set of symptoms they give you a whole bunch of tests to rule out xyz disease...it's a process of elimination.
The co-worker's outwardly visible signs were (that we saw during the day): profuse sweating, dramatic and fast weight loss, pain while eating, a collapse, and later we learned, no delicate way to say this, blood in the stool. That last one is one that should be taken seriously quickly (unless you ate beets the night before).
I'm out for now.
May you all be at peace, each and everyone of you...
