Michael Jackson Has Died
TMZ is reporting that that Michael Jackson died in Los Angeles from cardiac arrest. The Los Angeles Times, AP, CNN and CBS all confirm the report. The L.A. Times says doctors pronounced him dead after he arrived at the hospital in a deep coma. He was only 50-years-old.
I really don't know what to say. I am completely shocked. This doesn't feel like real life! TMZ has all the details. I'll write a little more later.
And I'm back (FYI: this part was written a couple of hours later). I just finished watching hours upon hours of Michael Jackson coverage and I still don't really know what to say. I will say that the dude made awesome music. That's a fact. You know you busted your shit to at least one Michael Jackson song in your bedroom, a club, a parking lot, a high school gymnasium, etc... The first time I ever drunkenly fell off the stage at a club, "Scream" was playing. Yes, I remember that. I also remember staying up late to watch the premiere of "Remember the Time" on MTV (back when MTV still played videos). I recorded it over Maid to Over on VHS, just so I could watch it a bunch of times.
Michael Jackson's music will live on forever. Hos will be dancing to it for the rest of eternity. Below is my favorite Michael Jackson song. It's also one of my favorite karaoke songs. I mean, you can't lose when singing about special rat friends:
And here's a few pictures of Michael through the years.

people are happy to be nasty, to believe the worse...and funny they can't understand why some of us are so sick of it. And they can alo teach it to kids, to judge, to stay ignorant, to be mean.
Or you could teach your kids that if someone is rich enough they can have their body for the night and that's just fine. I would never teach my children to judge but certainly to err on the side of caution when a man older than their dad wants to share cute sleepover times with them. *******************************************

Last night after I jumped off Dlisted, I went right to YouTube, found and played that very video. "Ben" was and will always be my fav MJ song.

That neatly sums up the paradox. He was a truly fantastic entertainer. He was also a man whose wealth and success meant that he never got the help he needed for his problems and was surrounded by leeches and enablers. He had moments of brilliance yet in my view he was also a dangerous paedophile whose aforementioned wealth and fame inoculated him for reality and the consequences of his actions.
I’m no fan of Bashir but to me it is perfectly credible to praise the entertainer and damn the man. Just my opinion

Why? He gave MJ a chance to prove he was normal and the victim of a callous scam.Instead he sat there holding a kid's hand, bragging about his sleepovers and talking bollocks about his 'sperm cells' Expecting us to believe a hospital let him leave with a new born baby with her umbilical cord still attached? He had a chance to make it right if those first allegations were false, change his lifestyle, get help. Yes it was bad news for MJ to be seen as he really was but don't shoot the messenger. *******************************************

But you cannot pretend that if Michael Jackson were just some guy down the street and not a celebrity that you would be mourning his passing. You would breathe a sigh of relief that this strange guy down the road who likes to sleep with boys isn't around anymore.
Hi there. Morning here in the UK and just heard those very words at school gates. Anyone, and I mean anyone, who thinks it is OK for a man in his 40s to have 'sleepovers' with kids needs a) to have a think and b) get sterilised pronto.
I do miss the fantastic talent that he used to be but he was fucked up beyond any doubt for the last 20 years or so. All that talent. Those great looks. maybe fame and fortune are a curse- if he was poor he would have been forced to get help.
One last thing. Madonna is in tears? Bollocks. Aside from having no soul her tear ducts are so far round the back of her head that she wouldn't even know she was crying. Madonna. Crying. Give me a fucking break.

Not to be a troll or anything, but I've never liked Michael Jackson. I guess he was talented, but I was always uninterested in his music but I'm not going to try and ignore the huge elephant in the room.
I believe he was a child molester, but if he wasn't one, he sure as hell didn't try to remotely seem innocent. After facing the same accusations *multiple* times, he never re-evaluated himself? I'm not sure about anyone else, but if people CONTINUOUSLY questioned my behavior, I'd begin to reconsider how I was acting.
While I understand it sounds all fucking cute and zen to disregard the impact of society, in the real world it has a significant impact on most human beings.
So his conduct could be blamed on his troubled childhood? I don't doubt it. He was raised by stage-peddling famewhores for parents so the acting out is anticipated, but Michael Jackson was surrounded by resources by the time he was on his own, so why the fuck did he dismiss them? I don't think he wanted the help. Even though I *do* believe that he was mentally ill, I also found him to be manipulative and entitled. Sorry.
Ed Gein was mental too. Let's exonerate him for the emotional distress he inflicted upon the families of his victims or the brutal murder of his victims because he "didn't know any better".
I'm not disregarding the big IF about the possibility that he wasn't a child molester, but he certainly made no attempts to clarify himself. By acting all cryptic and defensive made him appear shady as hell...
The pressure to inoculate oneself against such speculation would've gotten to most people who weren't guilty, I'd think, and that's what makes me believe he was a child molester.
In short, I know it sounds terrible. I have never wished death on anyone, but just because he's dead now doesn't mean I'm going to pretend to have liked him when he was alive.

Can't stop listening. My childhood is washing across my face.
Listened to the song again. Absolutely angelic voice.
RIP. This is crazy. :(
It's okay to hate him. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. For me, he made my fucked up childhood tolerable and brought a smile to my face. For that, I give the guy props!
I can't imagine a more appropriate song than the one you posted. If you really listen to the lyrics, it's almost prescient.
I've also been having mixed emotions. On the one hand, in his prime, the man made amazing music; the best on the earth. On the other hand, he had some effed up things going on in the end.
I remember my mother giving me a fistful of quarters in 1977 and having me run to the store and buying up every newspaper that reported Elvis' death.
This actually reminds me of that.
RIP Michael Jackson from Odessa and Israel
hopefully the children that he molested can have peace now.
Man, it hasn't even been a day and CNN managed to solely focus on Michael Jackson's controversial moments, even though it is late night CNN. Despite his questionable public and personal life, he has done a lot of great things. For the respect of his family they should at least save the shit talking for at least a week, shame on you news media.
The weird thing about this whole thing is that for the longest time I thought MJ made himself think and look like the biggest musician in the universe, I guess it was somewhere between Neverland and giving himself the Artist of the Millenium award. Now that he is dead, I've come to realize that he REALLY is that huge on an icon.
Just shocking terrible new, pour Michael Jackson, he was so talented, kind and fabulous. And so heartbroken about his lovely kids:(
WHY the GENUINES die first??
G-d Bless
It still doesn't seem real. I'm so heartbroken. I have loved MJ all of my 26 years and will do so for the rest of my like. Hopefully now he will be at peace. My heart goes out to all of MJ's family, friends and many fans around the world. :(
I will always love you Michael...
KandyKane, a man is dead. If you want to spend this time trashing MJ, that's fine, but your questions say more about your integrity than his.
"now you all have numbers, so we're going to do this alphabetically"
Great! The pedophile worshipers have landed.
The King of Pop is dead. Officially. This is, unequivocally, a landmark pop culture moment.
And as if on cue, the abrasive clutter of media voices, Tweets, Status updates and public opinion is almost as conflicted and complex as Michael Jackson was himself. In as much as the noise is already becoming a forensic deconstruction of his dark side, it's lamentable. In the immediate aftermath of his premature passing it might be worth taking a collective global deep breath.
Yes, he was a wildly idiosyncratic figure shrouded in controversy in his later years. But here's a plea: Let not the freakshow that became Michael Jackson and his profile over the last decade or two serve to obscure the more significant truth: This was one of the most important and influential musical figures of the 20th century. His passing is the sad end of a remarkable creative force.
In a sense, Michael Jackson never had the chance to be anything other than enigmatic. He was never allowed to live a normal life -- thrust onto the stage and into the spotlight at an early age. He quickly became the centre of attention as a musical child star and that spotlight never left him. In his 20s he became the most recognizable face in the world. And no amount of alteration of that visage would give him peace.
But somehow the abused child from Gary, Indiana rose beyond his difficult upbringing to become an innovator and global trendsetter. From his radiant presence and remarkable vocal range as a kid singing "Ben," to his infectious rhythms and falsetto of "Off the Wall" to his international domination as a recording artist and video-generation pioneer with "Thriller," Michael Jackson consistently proved himself. Put simply, the kid had it.
The enormity of his success makes it almost easier to gloss over the talent at the heart of the art. It is a cliché to claim Jackson was an icon and a superstar. But the reality is that his music resonated. It continues to do so in the dance clubs around that world that bust out songs from "Off the Wall," 30 years hence. It continues to in the unmistakable groove and syncopated vocals of "Billie Jean." And it continues to in the de facto progeny of his musicality: Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears or Usher.
Add to this the cross-racial and cross-generational appeal of the King and he is hard to overvalue. Jackson broke race barriers on an international level and strangely – given his controversial skin tone transformation – gave essential colour-agnostic music to the world.
Jackson's career and story in recent years is nothing short of tragic. Depending on who you ask he was a criminal child molester or a misunderstood hero. But he was certainly no longer a celebrated musician. The notions that Jackson was poised for a comeback are naïve and misplaced. He was well beyond his years as a musical innovator and a cultural leader. But he was still an artist that changed the world's popular culture. And had the talent to walk on the moon.
May he rest in peace. God bless his family especially the children. So sad.

I don't think anyone for the most part is disputing the fact that MJ was an incredible force. The problem, for me at least, lies in the payment of that $20 million hush money. You didn't happen to ask MJ about it while you were having lunch, per chance? I'd really love to know. And what the fuck do you know about me anyway? Unless you're a fly buzzing around my ass I reckon you haven't a fucking clue WHERE I get my news but then you knew that someone here would probably take you to task on that asinine comment.
I love you Michael. Rest in Peace. God bless.

Thanks for setting the record straight Cuddly Carla!I couldn't have said it better myself.
Michael Jackson should be remembered for being an incredible singer, dancer and performer! He truly is an icon. I hope he's found peace now.
PS. I love that 5th thumbnail, so cute.
To all the people ranting about pedophilia, I know you get all of your news from blogs and National Enquirer. Perhaps you should have taken the time to read the court transcripts which were available to the public EVERY DAY of the trial so you could see what garbage it was. Not only does he molest people, but he kidnaps them and tries to sail them away in a hot air balloon to South America. Not kidding, the kid and his mother alleged that too. Not coincidentally, both of his "accusers" had parents with criminal histories for suing for false claims in the past. Guess you wouldn't know anything about that either.
The loss of Michael Jackson is a major one, I had the pleasure of seeing him in person several times, going to his ranch for lunch, and attending his birthday party five years ago. I can honestly say, the man his friends, fans, and family knew was such a stark contrast to his image. He was funny, humble, sincere, and had an amazing heart, nonetheless for being the most famous talented man around. I am so grateful for the glimpses I received into this extraordinary being, I wish everyone could have. We are all left to ponder his unfathomable talent and I honestly wish him all the eternal peace there is.
RIP, MJ. Thank you for entertaining us.

Not surprised. I'm just going to say that everyone is entitled to their own opinion of MJ.
He was talented but many people can't forgive him for being an alleged pedo.
I really do believe that all his millions kept him out of jail and being put on a registered sex offender list...for life.
I only wish the best for his family and kids.

Seriously people, I understand how many of you feel sad and all about MJ's passing but you have to come to terms with the fact that not everybody feels the same way you do. For some, MJ is a musical legend, for others, he is nothing but that weird pederast with loads of money. You can't erase overnight the reputation that accompanied him for over a decade just because he is dead. IMO, people should say what they want to say, pro or against the dude, but not attack those who do not think the way they do. Besides, it is dlisted, not MJ's fan page, so respect is not exactly what you're gonna get. Even MK didn't know what to say. ;) Touchy subject indeed.
