Michael Jackson Has Died
TMZ is reporting that that Michael Jackson died in Los Angeles from cardiac arrest. The Los Angeles Times, AP, CNN and CBS all confirm the report. The L.A. Times says doctors pronounced him dead after he arrived at the hospital in a deep coma. He was only 50-years-old.
I really don't know what to say. I am completely shocked. This doesn't feel like real life! TMZ has all the details. I'll write a little more later.
And I'm back (FYI: this part was written a couple of hours later). I just finished watching hours upon hours of Michael Jackson coverage and I still don't really know what to say. I will say that the dude made awesome music. That's a fact. You know you busted your shit to at least one Michael Jackson song in your bedroom, a club, a parking lot, a high school gymnasium, etc... The first time I ever drunkenly fell off the stage at a club, "Scream" was playing. Yes, I remember that. I also remember staying up late to watch the premiere of "Remember the Time" on MTV (back when MTV still played videos). I recorded it over Maid to Over on VHS, just so I could watch it a bunch of times.
Michael Jackson's music will live on forever. Hos will be dancing to it for the rest of eternity. Below is my favorite Michael Jackson song. It's also one of my favorite karaoke songs. I mean, you can't lose when singing about special rat friends:

Honestly, I'm usually the first person making, "Too soon?" jokes, but when it comes to Michael, something feels different. Maybe it's because I was born in the 1980s, and I can't remember any time before Michael.... I just don't feel like I can joke around about him yet.

Yeah, he was strange and weird and god knows I wore out the tape I had of the Martin Bashir documentary, but it's weird... now that Michael's dead, all I can think about his legacy.
I feel bad for anyone born after the 1980s, because you'll only ever remember Michael as a freak. As a child, I remember when Michael's music videos were event TV. I think Black or White premiered on prime time, on every channel.
I remember watching MTV (who only started playing music videos again today, BTW), and just waiting for them to play the new Michael video. I remember what a huge deal it was to have Michael and Janet in the same music video. Kids today have no idea... you can watch any Michael video you want at any time on YouTube.
Nobody realizes anymore that Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown are just ripping off Michael. Nor do they realize that Michael borrowed from James Brown and Little Richard (and Gene Kelly- see his pants and socks in An American In Paris and tell me that isn't Michael). I honestly think that in today's low standards, we won't see another legend like MJ again. Think about anyone else who had so much influence on music, dancing and fashion. Shit, my grandmother even knew who Michael Jackson was AND knew the words to his songs.
I honestly thought Michael would outlive us all.... there are so many jokes I could crack, but maybe I'll do that tomorrow. Right now, I feel like my childhood has ended all over again.

I got the chills when I read about his death.
It is sad that all those people who are now all sad and crying and mourning and twittering about him, werent there whne he was being sued left and right by people because of his money. They all made fun of him and thought he was a freak and abandoned him.
I agree. That saddens me deeply. I never thought he molested those children. Their parents were the ones who thought those things up to get money. But really, all he wanted was the childhood he never had; he wanted to hang around kids and have fun, that's it. Poor Michael. His eccentricities where one thing, but his talent was undeniable and I always resented people for focusing on making him a comedic character rather than commending his greatness.

CandyPerfumeGirl: I'm youngish (22) and for me, He had always just been around ya know. I was quite young when all the scandal in the nineties happened but when I was about 14 or 15 Ilearned about the horrible upbringing he had and have always known how hopeless his situation had been with all of the abuse and mental health problems. I am just happy now that he can finally know peace. I feel at a loss. He was such a big part of so many lives. :(
