I have to defend sushi here because I also see (saw) MJ as a pedophile. Meaning that he loved children. I think he was in love with their innocence. I think he wanted to help them and had the best intentions most of the time.

But I think the way he talked about children sounded exactly the way NAMBLA does. It wasn't normal or healthy.

I can't say that he definitely molested children, but here are a few things that raised red flags for me:

He created an environment that would be irresistible to children. Pedos often do this to lure children and make them feel comfortable. Neverland is the ultimate lure.

He "groomed" certain children he was especially interested in; he courted their entire families.

He lost interest in his boy friends when they hit puberty.

If these things don't make you suspicious, I sure hope you don't have kids.

BTW - I am not saying definitively that he didn't touch any of those kids, no one knows that for sure except the accusers and MJ. All I'm saying is that I changed my own personal opinion after watching those particular shows.

I'm becoming too heated in this argument and am posting things that I regret to you. I did not mean to suggest that you were making something up.

However, I think you are overlooking so much in your defense of Jackson. I don't think extensive plastic surgery qualifies someone as a pedophile. I've posted this many a time, but the boy's testimonies, years later, never wavered. They gave detail that strongly suggests the boys were plied with liquor. He had a secret room, filled with porn and motion detectors. He picked the most vulnernable. He admitted to sharing his bed with them. He built a playland for kids.

If you took his being a celebrity out of the question, I would be willing to bet you would look at it differently.

Anyway, I'm being a jerk to you so I apologize. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Its weird, for so long the idea of Michael Jackson: Pedo was a foregone conclusion for me. But the more I see (I admit I youtubed the home movies MJ put out on that special from a few years ago and the Brashir special from 2003, I didn't watch either when they originally aired), the more I change my mind. I really think the guy was just so detached from reality that he didn't understand the concept of boundaries or how the real world works.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending a 40+ year old man sleeping in the same bedroom with children who were not his own, but I just think he truly didn't understand how wildly inappropriate it was. I don't believe there was anything sinister going on. This was not a normal guy, he didn't lead anything close to a normal life at any point. Watching the Brashir special I realized what an incredibly lonely, abnormal life he led, even by celebrity standards. It was insanity above and beyond what 99.9% of the population deals with.

I find it impossible to apply a normal standard of behavior to someone who has never lived in a normal world, to any extent whatsoever. That would warp anyone. He spent his entire life with enablers who told him everything he did was just wonderful (with the exception of his father). And because he was never not famous, he never lost those enablers, so he was never forced to re-evaluate his twisted view of the world. I think he felt he was just spreading the love or whatever, never realizing or understanding that there are things you just don't do, regardless of the intent behind it.

My overall impression after watching that Brashir show was that MJ was an incredibly troubled man. It seemed like most of the people in his life only cared about what they could get from him, and how they could profit from him for as long as possible, with no thought to any damage they were causing to this man's psyche. I really found myself feeling sorry for him. Again, not defending what I would describe as intensly inappropriate behavior, just feeling like I understand him better. And yes, he could have gotten rid of those enablers if he wanted, the fact he didn't is his fault. But when they're the only type of people you've ever known and they're basically running your life, that's got to be impossible. Especially when you're basically helpless and you know it.

Out of this whole mess, the only people I really feel bad for are Janet, Elizabeth Taylor and his kids. All seemed to genuinely love him dearly. And there are now 3 kids without a father they truly adored, regardless of what any of us think of him.

What I will also say is that he WAS an amazing entertainer and talent. I also admit to downloading more than one of his songs off iTunes in the past week and a half.
