Jeremy Piven Can't Take A Fish Joke
I love a good bitch fight, but this is not one. This is kind of sad. Just picture tiny Chris Kattan and little Jeremy Piven barking at each other backstage at Alexa Chung's MTV show. Gatecrasher reports that it all started when Chris rolled in on his Big Wheel, skipped up to Jeremy and said, "So, what are you here to promote, your Broadway play?" Of course, Chris was making fun of how Jeremy dropped out of a play, because he ate too much fish. Jeremy wasn't about to let Chris ZING him like that, so he put down his dolly and fired back, "Well, what are you here to promote? Mango?" BURN! Grab your lunchbox and take a seat, because it's about to be a TODDLER FIGHT!
The two went back and forth for a little bit, but shit got real when Jeremy delivered a low blow by making fun of Chris' "in the gutter" career. That's when Chris realized that Jeremy wasn't playing around, but that he was doing that shit for real. Chris called a time out and told Jeremy that he was just making harmless fish jokes. It wasn't not funny (copryright Tammy from The Real World: Los Angeles) to Jeremy. Before grabbing his dolly and going off to sulk in a corner, he shouted at Chris, "I'm getting sued for that shit! It's not funny!"
15 minutes later, Chris tried to say he was sorry about the whole thing, but Jeremy wouldn't listen and shut the door in his face! Jeremy's spokeswhore laughed off the whole thing and said he knew it was just jokes. But Chris' spokeswhore said something totally different: "Chris mistakenly asked Jeremy if he was there to promote his play and Piven fired back with 'What are you here to promote, Mango?' Chris tried to apologize."
Okay, okay. I take it back. This is a good bitch fight. It's also pretty fucking hilarious. It's like watching my chihuahua growl and snarl at his stuffed toy like he's really ferocious. It makes you go "awwww" in the heart. The same goes with Chris and Jeremy. If only they were wearing little elf costumes. Then it would really be cute. And I'm surprised this fight when on that long. It would be pretty easy to break it up. Someone over 5'7" just had to walk over pick them both up by the collars and then plop 'em back in the sandbox with their toys.

I loved Jeremy Piven on the new Carol Burnett show, was that the 80s or 90s? The skit I remember loving the most was when he played her son in a family of chronic liars. But my favorite actor who isn't a lead is David Hyde Pierce. Endless talent.

CAINandABEL, it's a good thing most people in Hollywood don't measure success by the same standard you do. 95% of working actors would slit their throats! 2nd lead no good? Indie pictures no good? And I defy you to name even one actor who hasn't been in a flop.
For the record. I knew who Jeremy Piven was years ago. Lots of people did. That's how he managed to maintain a successful career for more than 20 years. I actually loved him in PCU, and he was THE lead in that movie. There are lots of actors who can't/don't "carry" a movie. This does not make them insignificant. Being a consistent 2nd or 3rd lead in a major picture is a fucking great career, my friend. Nothing to sneer at.
I honestly don't know what either of these guys are really like in person. On the basis of careers only, I think Piven kicks Kattan's ass. I think Kattan may have missed his window of opportunity to capitalize on his SNL success and that may be the end of his story.
By the by, the thing that Kattan was probably promoting is a little miniseries on IFC about him becoming a Bollywood star after having "burned his bridges" in Hollywood. He plays himself. Fiction, sure, but interesting.

JP: Misogynistic mean spirited humorless douchebag. Any man or woman who dates him is asking for trouble.
CK: Has his few moments of bringing the LOL's,
but otherwise, a bitter little closet queen.
Those are the vibes I get from these two.
No matter how many IMDB credits Piven may have to his name...NO ONE knew who he was or considered him newsworthy until he got the Entourage gig. Decades of supporting parts in indy flicks and turkey bombs do not prove he is a good actor or a major Hollywood player...so far he hasn't been able to carry a successful movie on his own...he may be a cable star but no movie star yet...and for the looks of it, he won't be a Broadway star either any time soon.
cookiepuss, I agree that Piven should be given credit for his pre-Entourage resume. I actually liked him on Ellen (ducking and wearing football helmet). Cupid was okay. I liked PCU despite him.

To those who think that Jeremy Piven's career is limited to Entourage, I recommend that you check out his IMDB page. Dude has been busy making movies for 20+ years. He's a bona fide fucking actor. Chris Kattan hasn't even managed the little shake-off movie mini career that most SNL stars manage. He hasn't parlayed Mango into ANYTHING. Granted Piven is a bit of a tool, but Kattan sounds like he's trying to get murdered. That shit is funny to US, but I would never say it to Piven's face.
He must be a proper DICK to not have managed even the smallest of movie careers after the success of his time at SNL. Hell, look at Molly Shannon! If she can do it, anyone can.

At least Mango is a SNL cult classic...and funny...lol...and it's ironic how Piven likes to get in fights and brag about his "hot" career when the only thing Piven is famous for is Entourage, a CABLE show about douche bags where he plays the biggest DB of all...not really much acting required there...a show that does not even have the iconic pop culture status and production values of The Sopranos or SATC...a show so slow and bad that it is amazing it hasn't been cancelled yet (but might be soon the way this season is going). We all know he had to come up with some BS excuse to get out of that Bway play because he knows he doesn't have the acting chops to handle real acting and keep the public coming night after night...he jumped shipped before the failure of the play could be attributed to him and the critics had a field day. He thinks he is hot shit in Hollywood but he is nothing more than dog poop already turned white after being in the sun too long.
