Can't We Just Leave Heathers Alone?

Hollywood has been trying to eff with Heathers for a while now. Winona Ryder was yapping about a sequel for a long time, then there was talks about a remake and now comes the worst idea of all worst ideas. Heathers: THE TV SHOW! This is obviously Hollywood's way of fucking us slowly with a chainsaw.

Variety brings us the bad news. They report that Mark Rizzo and Jenny Bicks (a writer from Sex and the City) are working together on this crap. They plan to update it and bring back all the characters from the movie. The casting alone is making me vommy. They are totally going to destroy us all by casting Ashley Jizzdale, Tater Head Willis, that Kristin Calamari chick from The Hills, the Miss Lolitas and one of the Jonas hos.

Can we just declare Heathers a historical site, which means evil bitches can't renovate it or fuck with its foundation? If that's not possible, somebody pour chocolate syrup all over Heathers: The TV Show and tell Martha Dumptruck dessert is served!

NO, and HELL NO!

Stop molesting my favorite films and shows from my childhood and teenage years.

Hollywood can suck it.

Um... No. This is a classic. Nothing more needs be said or done. How exactly are you going to make a youth-based network tv show about a couple of teens who go all Bonnie and Clyde and kill a buncha people and screw? Unless the movie is just about some bitches named Heather and their emo friend Veronica, in which case it won't matter.

Man, I'm only 22, but I love the Heathers. I want a sequel, though I know hollywood only fucks them up. The only people I can think of filling in the role of Wynona is ellen page or kat dennings and the others are Lindsay(i hate to say it) and Rachel Macadams. I think they would make a great cast for a movie, with Tina fey writing the script. Cant think of anybody now, creepy enough to replace Christian. I kinda love him.

This shit is from Wiki (duh...) Though you bitches might be innerested:

'Two stars of the movie died at an early age: Jeremy Applegate (Peter Dawson, whose character prays he will never commit suicide) committed suicide with a shotgun on March 23, 2000, and Kim Walker (Heather Chandler, who had the line "Did you have a brain tumor for breakfast?") died of a brain tumor on March 6, 2001.'

Oh, if only their deaths were more ironic.

The Heather in beige isn't dead... it's the Heather in gray plaid who died of a brain tumor (ironic given she's the one who uttered the classic "brain tumor" line in the movie).

Just ewwwww! He has already done a sexually explicit movie with a spouse, what is this little twerp's problem? What was that howler he made w/ Nicole Kidman, where they all ran around chanting, in masks, & had orgies?

I think there is more here than the typical teen fluff, but as many said, the great script was not treated very well by who many consider just an OK director.
**************************************

SO true. That's gonna be it's biggest flaw - it's almost like the director wasn't sure what he was doing, or kinda like he didn't get intimate with the characters until half way through...and true about the Jack voice, too...I had to deep-breathe myself through it at first("OMG STOP talking like that!").

It's a really good representation of it's time, I think. That's what makes it "good".

I have an idea for Hollywood. How 'bout they make a NEW movie? Or are kids these days too glazed over and homogenized (or, alternatively: drunk, high and knocked up) to comment on...?

I'm not afraid to kill you in front of a priest. ~ Nurse Jackie.

angel i - OK, I see your point. And I agree that it was meh, then it was good, then it was great analysis. I loved that he was so Jack-ish back then, but last night it irritated the fuck out of me. Some IMDB commenters have some insightful analysis on it, about how it made meta statements about teen flicks, and how it was precient in its viewpoint on teen violence on campus. I think there is more here than the typical teen fluff, but as many said, the great script was not treated very well by who many consider just an OK director. I did like all the hotness between JD and Veronica ... I just never could get behind Winona in general ... she kinda bugs ...

--------

Aw! But that's half the fun! It's not that good! And then, weirdly, it gets really good! And I'm all, like, WOW! This movie IS kinda good! I mean, it's not great but it's pretty good! And then, a big part of it is really just visiting with old friends. Christian with his Jack Nicholson voice and fresh, little Wynona and Brenda's super stupid hair...and, hey! Remember when girls used to wear CLOTHES!?....just the nostalgia is nice....

LOL. She was born in 1968 and the film was released in 1988. (I've never seen this flick and don't even remember hearing about it in 1988. But that happens to me a lot.)
