right on! exactly what i'm thinking when it comes to this bitch.
it's funny though when fans of hers say that b/c we don't like her or her music we just don't "get" it, and don't know what good music or art is...of course i beg to differ. i think it's completely the other way around.
all the people you spoke of that she has ripped off in some form or another like david bowie, grace jones, goldfrapp, even blondie and the factory scene are way more original than she is or will ever be. she's just a cheap imitation of these pioneers that is re-packaged and presented to the general populace that knows nothing of culture except what is shown to them on mtv or top 40 radio...so yes, to someone like that who'd never seen or heard of people like wendy o'williams, grace jones, blondie, david bowie, goldfrapp, siouxsie sioux, etc.,she would be a one-off.
so, it's pretty funny when someone like that tries to tell me i don't know what originality and good music/art is...i have to laugh.
oh, and one more thing...why should she be praised for writing or producing her own music...i know that's rare in the mainstream music industry these days, but all the artists and musicians i listen to write their own music...that's what they do...amazing.
just b/c she writes her own music doesn't make it automatically good or worthy of this much attention and praise.

I would like to squeeze a boob with implants to feel the difference first, but it would seem rude ;)

Okay. I came to D-Listed to see SOLELY what everyone here thought of her performance, because the Gagaloonies from another board are on the fucking warpath.

Anyway, I don't really feel like retyping everything I said because I'd be sitting here FOREVER, summarizing my response, but here's what I said on that other board:

I can't believe how many people are gullible enough to fall for this moron's act. And the only people convinced that she's unique? ARE BRAINWASHED BY BUBBLEGUM CULTURE. Yes, those of you pretending that you and your beloved icon are so above the influence of the media are all so full of bullshit, you make me want to throw up in my fucking mouth.

Apparently, none of you have ever seen Otep Shamaya, Grace Jones, Dale Bozzio, Bjork, or even Pink for that matter. This chick is a hybrid of these women's styles, and while it's okay to be inspired by another's fashion sense, I am so sick and fucking tired of hearing about how Gaga created her own trademarked fashion statement. No she didn't.

Just because she dresses "edgier" and more "shocking" (these terms I use loosely) doesn't separate her from the Britneys, Christinas, and Madonnas who preceded her so she can get off that soapbox about how "real" she's keeping it. At the end of the day, she looks like another half-naked bleached blonde bimbo albeit packaged slightly differently to attract an equally delusional audience of Hot Topic exclusive trendwhores who cream themselves over Twilight fanfiction and Deviant Art.

She's not "different" at all, and if she was, she wouldn't have to compromise her image by slutting it up. I hate how she pretends to be all dark and avant-garde but only as long as she gets to flaunt her body while doing it. People are so blinded by a slutty costume, they're actually convinced that she's "rebelling" against the norm with her "controversial" sexuality when in reality, all she's doing is conforming. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT'S EXPECTED OF YOUNG FEMALE MUSICIANS.

She has none of the proverbial "guts" for which she's always receiving unwarranted praise. Anyone who doesn't see looking and acting like a cocktease (like she does) as PR manipulation is fucking blind. God forbid the day that MTV support a female artist that is truly innovative, interesting, or quirky in case she doesn't wear a costume that isn't tight, blatantly sexual, or revealing enough. On a similar note, the S&M look is so fucking played out and overused by all the slutty pop stars...and yet, not one of them got it right. Leave it to Bettie Page, ladies.

Her music is hardly anything to write home about, when all of it revolves around shallow popular culture and innuendos. Because that's never happened in the history of the music industry before. No way, and that's why she dresses the way she does: to deflect from the fact that her music lacks any substance whatsoever and can easily be replaced by the workings of the next vacant pop star.

I actually liked her better (and admittedly I did like her a little) circa last year whenever the videos for Poker Face and Just Dance were released, because it didn't look half as pretentious and contrived.
