I love this guy, but that clip SUCKED! What was with that weird narration? Had to be local cable of some sort. His show is much more entertaining, he yells at people but only if they deserve it because they are stupid assholes.
When I first saw this show, for about the first 10 minutes I was in a complete state of WTF.
By the end of the ep I realized this was brilliant. Brad seems odd but he's just being Alpha - to the dogs and the humans. That's the crux of the show - that dogs are accustomed to Alphas and humans are not. It's great.
I love Brad and especially Rudy! He really is straight up about things like when he'll ask a couple during the initial meeting, "How are you guys getting any business with the dogs sleeping in your bed?" I watch the eps on slice.ca all the time.

PS absolute BEST at the end of my leash moment goes to: the episode where some asshole thought that if he found out his dog had done something wrong earlier (ie chewed the couch when he wasn't around or shat somewhere) that throwing a glass of water in his face was the solution.
so brad had him go through one of the dog training exercises and the guy didn't really do it so well... so instead of telling the guy what he did wrong and helping him, he threw a glass of water in his face.

Whoa. He wrestled the dog? My dog would have loved that and this guy, likely, would have been the ONLY person he jumped on every single time he came back. I just found consistency (with everything, really) worked. If he jumped up or acted crazy he got thrown behind a door (by me)and ignored for varying amounts of time. He hated doors and he hated being ignored, so that helped but it was no more that three or four times before he got the message.

Tyranny, a incorrectly trained dog will respond to an alpha. I have been in the dog park or just walking down the street and can make unruly dogs listen, obey, sit, whatever. The owners invariably say 'how did you do that?' Simply by being in charge.
Too many people think it is overbearing or even cruel but it is a DOG. Like children we can't let them rule the roost.

Granted I've warned off a few dog attacks via standing my ground and telling the dog "NO!" and shoo'ing it the other way but I would never put a strangers dog into a sit or even attempt to give it commands. I know my dog would look at a stranger like "who the fuck are YOU" if they even tried. But he's a heeler and they are rock solid "one person" dogs, he won't even listen to my husband, completely disregards him. That's just the way they are.

While I understand that, I'm also of the opinion that a stranger walking into my house has no alpha status over my dogs. I'm weird like that tho. Even as a child, I've always had multiple dogs, but yes, this Husky will be the last member of my clan for a good while. He's a year old already and has undergone obedience training, so I'm hoping for a relatively smooth transition. Chows, on the other hand, are truly a more stubborn breed, which is why it's taking me so long with these two.
Thank God I don't have a lovelife.
ETA: DiamondDawg, nah. I hate carpets. The floors are tiled so cleaning them's a snap. It DOES get dicey when I have to take the Chows to the vet, though, because I have to have the car vaccuumed afterwards.
