Stephen Gately Of Boyzone Has Passed Away
Stephen Gately of the Irish boy band Boyzone was found dead yesterday while on vacation in Majorca, Spain with his husband Andrew Cowles. Stephen was only 33.
There aren't many details about Stephen's death since the police are still conducting an investigation. The police said there were no signs of violence. One of Stephen's told The News of the World (I know) that he went out for a few drinks, came back to his house, fell asleep and never woke up.
The members of Boyzone are now on their way to Spain. The group's Louis Walsh said this:
"We're all absolutely devastated. I'm in complete shock. I was only with him on Monday at an awards ceremony. We don't know much about what's happened yet. I only heard after The X Factor and we will rally around each other this week. He was a great man."
Stephen, who was working on his first children's novel at the time of his death, is survived by his husband Andrew.

I've been following this story. It's just heartbreaking & tragic. Normally I have no problem posting witty clever & bitchy responses to stuff but this just breaks my heart. Who hasn't gone out & had a few? It sounds horrible that he died like that but it can happen. Maybe everybody will check up on their roomies/friends/partners &c. after a night out now.

It's rare when I say something nice about a celebrity so here goes: this is a shame. You have people like Wino and Blowhan running around like reanimated corpses and yet this fine-looking and normal man is the one who ends up dead. Was that nice?

Sorry but that was the worst and most unintelligent rant I have read on here. The BBC only shows British athletes? Are you the full ticket? It showed a lot of other countries (if we are going to talk about not paying attention to world affairs, you just gave me quite a lot of ammo) and I seem to remember normal programming being interrupted to show Bolt run for instance. It was also the UK's best Olympics in years. But don't let the facts bother you too much precious. I already said that yes there are rags here, terrible ones, but do you think that defines our entire press. Tell me when did you last read the times, the guardian, the telegraph, the spectator, the independent? You think the Globe or the Enquirer are what? Ulysses compared to our mags?

National Examiner, The National Enquirer, The Globe, Star and Weekly World News. Yeah they are all the Time magazine of gossip mags right? To those saying it is impossible to die of natural causes at 33, that is nonsense. One of my friends dropped dead from a heart condition he didn't know he had, he was only 20 and seemed very fit and healthy. At this stage, nobody knows what happened, just seems like he died in his sleep.

Probably died of alcohol poisoning. I read some article (mind you it was a UK article and you know how the Brits do it) where they looked at a few recent cases of people who were drinking, they were completely fine and then the next moment BAM! unconcious and dead.

oh this is so sad and unexpected...he's still got a strong fan base in my country..it's like one of the 'backstreet boys' died for Europe...
I can't believe he ever had to come out. I mean, look at him. Why would he have to acknowledge something as plain as the gayface.
Anyway, sad that he died. Dying at 33 while on vacation doesn't really sound like it was of natural causes. We'll see.
