Shiloh Pepin Has Passed Away
This is just the saddest. Shiloh Pepin, who was born with a rare condition often called "mermaid syndrome," swam off to the big ocean in the sky yesterday afternoon. Shiloh was only 10 years-old.
The Associated Press says Shiloh checked into the Maine Medical Center last week and was hospitalized in critical condition.
Shiloh was born with both of her legs fused together. Shiloh had no colon or genital organs, and only one partially working kidney. Usually, children born with sirenomelia get their legs surgically separated, but Shiloh never did because blood vessels in her circulatory system would have been cut.
Shiloh appeared on Oprah just last month where she talked openly about her condition. Shiloh even threw Oprah a few "O, please" faces whenever she was asked some dumb questions. Those of you that have seen the documentaries about her on the Discovery know that she really loved life and didn't take any shit.
May Shiloh rest in peace.

this is about the saddest thing i have heard all year! it breaks my heart may she r.i.p
A place someone who can treat you as a king or who can spoil you like a queen, this is the great place---Uniformedcupid.com ---!!!. It's dedicated for those military singles who are rich and successful to support and pamper military spouses who will treat you like a king and for women military admirers who are attractive and young to seek a generous benefactor to mentor and take care of you.
It was sad to hear the news, I loved the kid.

I am really happy that you posted this. I love that you make fun of people who deserve it (hookers and celebs) and not people with disabilities.
I love this website.
R.i.p. Shiloh!
I love you Michael K. You can recognize true awesomeness like Shiloh and praise it. Shiloh you were one of the 'original bad asses'! R.I.P. Dear.
Poor little thing. SHAME on the spammers trying to sell their cheap crap.
Wow, that's sad. I just saw her interview with Oprah, and was rather impressed because she had no problem with giving Oprah the side eye for asking stupid shit.

This little girl was amazing. I think it really puts things in perspective when you see how courageously she battled through her too-short life. God bless her.
No! I have huge tears! Shiloh was AWESOME.
I saw the documentary on her on Discovery and it was beautiful... she was beautiful. I couldn't believe how funny, smart and sweet she was.
You will be missed, Shiloh.
Oh this is terrible. This little girl was a trip, and I often thought if she ever had her own blog, she'd give Michael K a run for his money with her biting sense of humor!
RIP Shiloh. xooxxox
I saw the program on the Discovery Channel a couple of times and she completely captivated me with her amazing personality. Her insights about people and her condition just stunned me.....there are no words Little Mermaid...I pray peace for you and you family today...Loving thoughts...
R.I.P Shiloh
Too bad she didn't give her condition to Oprah then Gayle her best friend Gayle Gayle my best friend would weep rivers of coochie tears whilst licking up the billions her best friend Oprah Oprah her best friend left to her.
"You cross me again Rosie & I'll make a handbag out of you."
Oh that's sad :( Poor girl. At least it seemed like she was in a happy environment though and lived her life as much as she could.
None of us are going to make it out of here alive.
May God bless her fighting spirit ...I'm not quite the religious person but I'm trying to say a prayer here.
Amen.
Sometimes kids are truly amazing. What a brave, smart and funny little girl she was. May she find piece in the hereafter.
I had not previously heard of her, but am sad to read of her passing. She seems like she was a sweet child.

This is so white trash. Not the girl who died, but this bullshit, trailer trash posting. God, this is tacky.
She was such an angel. Nothing short of a gift from God. She was too good for us. It had to be short lived.

Oh, why did you have to remind me of that little boy? It's so odd that people that good are here for such a short time.
Anyway, this really is an innocent question: How can one live for more than a week w/o a colon? How does that happen? What happens to the waste?
ah, this made me tear up:-( this little girl reminds me of that 12 year old boy from washington, the one that wanted to feed the homeless before dying of cancer. they are too good for this dank, cruel world, and are in a better place.

At first glance I thought I read Marine Medical Center.
This is just aweful news. I just loved that little girl. Why do lovely, good people die so young? Why cant mean people take their place? Rest in Peace precious one.
I too saw both documentary's and loved how spunky little shiloh was. I am so sad but touched by her bravery. My condolences to her family and friends. GodBless you little shiloh. :(
I am saddened by this. I watched her show a few times on TLC. I really admire her parents, she sure had a lot of medical problems to manage. Their first child was still born. I am not sure I agree though with what they did on the last show. They sent her off to a camp with special needs kids kids. Nobody there really knew how to manage her condition or change her waste bags. She had NEVER been seperated from her parents before. She was a little pistol though and very wise for being 10. RIP Shiloh.
I love Shiloh! RIP, girl. What a wonderful person she was!
This is awful. I saw the second documentary on her a couple weeks ago and everybody said she was doing great. She spent a week at a camp for disabled children and was so sweet and nice to everybody, even though one nurse said she was the "most needy" child there (because they had to learn to change her bags). Shiloh had such a great personality. I wonder what happen for her to get sick and die so quickly. Maybe Discovery will repeat the second docu and do an update. Poor baby!! At least her parents had her for 10 years.
AWW man is it bad that i read that " she checkd in the MARINE medical center"
I recently saw a documentary on Shiloh, and she touched my heart. My heart goes out to her family. If anyone knows where we can send messages directly to the family, please let me know.
Rest in peace honey, you lived a very full life in the 10 years you were here with us.

My sweet little Shiloh, may you r.i.p. You were such a little spitfire and made me see that I whined about trivial nonsense. I owe so much.
Thank you for having been what we should be!
This brings tears to my eyes. I saw the first documentary, and the recent update. Shiloh was such a sweetheart and a real inspiration. She never felt sorry for herself, which is a real credit to her loving parents who impressed me with their ability to treasure every precious moment they had with their little girl.
For those of you who believe in the concept of 'Old Souls', this little girl truly was one, and I think she taught us alot. Rest peacefully, Shiloh. Kind thoughts to her parents.

The poor li'l thing.
She strikes me as the type that wouldn't want us all saying that, but you can't help it.
I will imagine her as well and out of pain where she is now.
Bless her heart.
Poor kid. She was a pistol, though - extremely lively and feisty. I hope she's somewhere where she can swim freely, in no pain.
Bless her soul. I hope wherever she went, she walked when she got there.
"Rhoda, we're all aware that you're an adroit liar"
Wow, I'm so sad about this. She was such a fantastic role model for human kind. Great attitude, loads of laughter, dealing with all adversities with a smile on her face. We can all learn something from her and her short time here on earth. Bless you sweet Shiloh and thanks for being you. R.I.P.
um, i just clicked on the clip......oprah, "you just rather have your mermaid legs?" wtf kind of question is that? And orpah says "does it make it easier to swim?" Honestly, Who knows really? We don't really know if it does and neither does she. We never been in her position and she's never been in ours so to me that's a dumb question.
RIP Shiloh....
glad she gave it to oprah if oprah treated her like an idiot, i didn't see it though.
This is so sad. My niece was watching about this girl one day, i don't remember what channel. ANyway...I started watching this too about her and it was like i dunno, six months ago. And the little girl was so cute and sweet and it makes me sad. =(
I really liked her. God,this is just awful. She had the best attitude I have seen in any kid her age for a long time. Didn't want pity & didn't take shit from anyone. I remember her getting her nails polished talking about how she was looking forward to dating. Her family stayed in the background-didn't fight for the spotlight during the documentary. My heart goes out to them, they raised a wonderful little girl.

re: the jimmy dean thing:
salt + less than one functioning kidney = big problems. the bloat that she had probably had a lot to do with her kidneys anyway, so salty food should have been severely restricted.
i bet it was really hard to say "no" to her, though.
