See, I disagree about the role model thing. She's a pop star, meaning her songs are more accessible to kids, and kids who like her songs are likely to look up to her, whether she wants them to or not. And there are a lot of young women in abusive relationships who can relate to her situation. So her leaving an abusive boyfriend is a good example.

And to the idiots saying "oh, why didn't she speak out before?" It's really hard to talk about a traumatic incident to anyone. I haven't even talked to some my closest friends about things that happened to me. It must take a while for some people to get ready to talk to the press about something like that. Try it sometime.

That's convenient but it's not that cut and dried. Reading between the lines of the reporting that came out just after the attack, it sounded to me like Rihanna a) gives as good as she gets, and b) provoked Chris. Now her PR statement seems to acknowledge that she was as much to blame as Chris for creating a toxic relationship. Girls, you can't provoke/push a guy and then claim to be exempt from getting hit. I don't condone hitting a woman - or a man - but deliberately provoking someone's anger is wrong.

I would have cared more had she spoken out a few months after the beating incident, not when she has an album coming out in three weeks. Weak tracks. Weak interview. Meh.

Her job is to make music and sell albums. Marketing is part of the contract and she needs to be out there promoting her work. If she's more ready now to discuss what she couldn't immediately after the incident, I say more power to her.

Yep, your exactly right: Her job is to sell albums. All I'm saying is she's using the Chris Brown incident as a way to sell albums and passing it off like she's mother fucking teresa and saying she's doing it for the young girls. I'm saying, no shes not. She is doing it for the money. She's exploiting the incident to make money instead of using the incident in a morally responsible way, which would be to raise awareness and maybe set up a charity for abused women. Instead, it's all about her and money. If she wanted to promote the album there are other ways of doing that.

Ok everyone is complaining about her (in)ability to speak, but come on! The girl is talking about how she used to get beaten up by her boyfriend, and then everybody in the freakin world found out about it, a little emotional don't you think? Did you ever consider she might be trying not to break down in fucking tears?????

It takes a lot of guts for her to speak about what happened, especially on television. Domestic abuse is a really huge problem, partly because people don't talk about it. For victims it is not only humiliating, but often dangerous. I also think its awesome that she talks about how hard it is to leave an abuser. Keep on talkin RiRi!

And any of you bitches hatin on RiRi, why don't you take a step back and think about how important it is to talk about domestic violence, and how much courage it takes to be open about something so personal. After all, it could happen to you, your mom, your sister, or your daughter.

Riri does sound painfully inarticulate, but I see why that is. She is trying so hard to lose that Bajan accent/Creole and sound American. It's very obvious. You can see it in the way she's forming her words and sentences in her head. That's not how Barbadians naturally talk. I know she's gotten flack before because people say she does that because she's ashamed of her roots

I would have loved to hear her talk in her natural way. I don't know why she should be ashamed, her background is what makes her exotic and interesting. I think she stands out from other generic pop/hip-hop singers because of this. It was a bit annoying hearing her stumble over her words, but no different than when a foreigner speaks English. You gotta give props when someone knows a different language or regional dialect.

OK, so I totally read that at first as ELF Love, and I'm thinking "what do elves have to do with this?" and then Im thinking well, maybe Lil Wayne knocked her up too, but he's a goblin, not an elf...
