DJ AM's Estate Files A Wrongful Death Lawsuit
DJ AM's estate believes that if he was never in a plane crash, he would've turned to the bad shit again and he would've never passed away. They believe it so much that they have filed a lawsuit against the charter company responsible for the September 2008 plane crash, which killed everyone on board except for AM and Travis Barker. Shit just got rea- Oh, I'll stop. It was already really real real.
In the papers filed in L.A. Superior Court, AM's estate says that he was sober and living clean before the crash. After the crash, he was forced to start taking pills to help him deal with anxiety and the pain from his injuries. They state that the "crash ultimately caused DJ AM's death."
DJ AM died this past August from an overdose of various prescription drugs as well as cocaine.
Before he passed away, AM already filed a lawsuit against Clay Lacy Aviation, Global Exec Aviation, Inter Travel and Services, Goodyear Tire, LearJet and the estate of the two pilots killed in the crash.

Well.....my mother has been against every lawsuit that exists period which i'm not. I'm against a lot, but not all. My grandmother didn't even sue a dr that messed up her eye and made her permanently blind. That was f'ed up that she didn't sue. I'm all for suing with that......but I don't know about suing when a person is dead.....I'm not saying it's an exchange, but it always felt like to me like money was replacing the person. BTW, harvey levin said "DJ AM was suing the pilots because they STARTED to take off with a flat tired" so i dunno. But when they died they paid the ultimate (which is awful) so if it's true it's awful that they are sued. I'm sure the pilots weren't trying to take off....they are trained usually so well....my dad was a pilot and it's a hell of a lot of work to become one. I think it's more work than being a doctor, really. Or they didn't realize it was blown....whatever it wasn't their job to check it.
all i've ever seen risperdal, zyprexa, and some other anti psychotics make people do is sleep, eat (and gain and gain) and be a zombie. Seroquel can cause diabetes but it actually helped some i know and they didn't gain weight.....so i dunno, i think that's one of the lesser evils. But my niece is on these mind drugs....and she has to exercise and she's hungry all the time....she does exercise and she's still having problems with weight...i dunno, it's all a big mess with some of those drugs . I don't even wanna start on how my niece was put on ritalin at 4.
Oh some pharm comps should be sued. Like for instance Risperdal, crap like that, i think. But someone may tell me i'm wrong that they really need it.
i'm glad they aren't suing the pharm companies. my dr no longer prescribes oxycontin i guess because of that crap.....which is no big deal because there is oxycodone, but if it keeps going on, there won't be oxycodone (brand name roxicodone, immediate release) for those that need it. People need to consider those that have chronic pain before they do this. I appreciate that they aren't suing the pharm comp and maybe they aren't cause they knew adam really needed those pills for pain and they know others need them too.....or maybe the lawyer/s said that it wouldn't succeed for this or that i dunno, but i would like to think that they know those pills are necessary. So i wish people would just leave pain pills alone....for awhile as far as making them look bad. Because it only punishes people in the end that really need the pills.

Seems like a throw away lawsuit. Since he has a long past history of drug use they can't prove that he never would have fallen off the wagon if the accident hadn't happened. Even if he didn't have a history of drug use it would be a stretch.

AM wasn't going to sue the pilots or families, he made some public statement about it but i can't remember the details. he was upset people thought he was gonna do that.
I mean, I get what his family's saying but you can't sue over something like that. I don't doubt the crash and its after effects played a large role in his relapse, but i don't think you can sue the company a year after b/c of his death via drugs, NOT directly from the crash.
I'm inclined to give a pass b/c they are grieving and probably looking to place blame somewhere (in addition to the obvious blame on AM).

These allegation are illogical. The crash didn't cause his death, he killed himself with a drug overdose. If he would have followed his prescribed dosage of medication and stayed away from additional illegal drugs, he would still be alive.
