I feel bad for her. She has an alcoholic father who just divorced someone about her age and her mother has been with a string of losers (I heard that dope she just divorced didn't get along with Alexa Ray). Plus the mother has 3 kids with three different fathers. Doesn't sound like the most stable home life.

She's not beautiful, but then few of us are! There are a lot of other words to describe someone's looks that are not nasty. How about cute, I really think she is cute.

I had a coworker attempt suicide a couple weeks ago. She's very quiet, doesn't talk about her feelings, and if you ask her how she is, she doesn't really talk about it. A lot like me, actually. But I never thought that she would harm herself. You always wonder why you didn't see it coming.

You know, I always wonder about these wealthy, "famous", accomplished people that try to kill themselves...

I must admit that the idea seems warm and fuzzy to me sometimes since things aren't going so well, but then I realize, hey, I love life even if I'm sad, or blue, or unemployed or whatever...

What is it that makes someone with everything to live for attempt suicide??

What pushes them to that edge?

I can imagine how it would be a double-edged sword to be rich and famous. I mean, I'm trying to put myself in a celeb's shoes, where you can't even go to the grocery store or to the beach without someone snapping your pic and posting it in the Enquirer (I admit to reading the Enquirer, yes, and seeing celebs "unretouched" photos. Actually, I've been on this "celeb retouching kick" the last few weeks, and it's been a real eye-opener seeing how much of those magazine covers is digitally enhanced!). Add to that having a problem like depression or alcoholism, and then having that be the butt of late night talk show hosts, etc... and I'm guilty as hell of feeding into the interest, and laughing, but when I really think about it, with some of these folks there's some very real pain. I've been hospitalized for depression before, my father has attempted suicide more times than I can count, but at least we were able to keep it private.

I know the argument is that it's all part of the lifestyle, and celebs should just suck it up and take it, but a child born INTO the lifestyle had no choice. And here she is being mocked by Perez Hilton and... wow. It's GOTTA be hard. She's gonna spend her entire life with people comparing her to her parents, saying she's not as talented as her father, or as pretty as her mother (though I think she's beautiful).

I'm a hypocrite in many ways, because I am relentlessly bashing Tila Tequila over on Twitter, and I love to dish about celeb gossip. But sometimes there are things that just aren't funny.

MK, I think you handled this story beautifully. The difference between you and PH is that you are freaking hilarious, you have a bite, but you also have a heart, and it comes through in posts such as this.

I think Alexa's a gorgeous girl, personally. This particular photo is goofy as hell, but I've seen her in other photos and thought "Damn, she managed to be beautiful DESPITE inheriting her looks from Billy Joel!". Look around you, the large majority of the population is physically unattractive.
Alexa is a very pretty girl, but obviously inherited mostly her father's gene pool, and that's ok. I hope she finds some peace and appreciation in her life.

I think Alexa is very pretty. She just doesn't have conventional looks, and some people are really uncomfortable with that. But who cares really. Some of the most talented and interesting people don't have perfect looks. Think of Barbra Streisand, Steffi Graf, even Jennifer Grey (who unfortunately had the opposite problem after she got her nose job! People didn't find her conventional looks interesting anymore!). Just because some people don't like their looks, doesn't mean everyone feels that way!
I was reading that Alexa may have been upset about a relationship. I sure hope that isn't the case. But I've been there myself and no guy is worth your life!

Too many posts but the person who pointed out that that loser Perez is all over Gaga (she was just on tv in the UK, good performance, but she's no oil painting) and he says Alexa is ugly? Well, first of all who cares what that has been says and secondly, it's Perez Hilton, a man so fat and unhappy he had a band fitted to lose weight. I really hope she recovers. I wonder the same thing. This Summer two people I knew committed suicide. They are very much different people. I guess the only common denominator I see is a chemical imbalance (depression) or just a lower overall tolerance for tough situations. Where some people can see the end in sight, others feel as though things will never get better and the only way to escape the pain is to end their lives. The "pain" can seem like no big deal to one person, but be enough to make someone else end it. One of the people I mentioned above seemed to have it "all together" it was a total shock to most people including me) when she did it. Only her close family new there were some demons she was hiding. She stabbed herself in the chest. You would never think this bubbly 24 year old would be capable of that. There is a movie called "Boy Interrupted" that is about an extreme case of suicide, it is intense but it does make you think.

As for people saying she is ugly...really? I mean why does everything have to go back to the way someone looks? I would hardly describe her as ugly and it is also a subjective term, so do not state it as though it were fact.

I think Alexa is pretty and think her mom is pretty too (very pretty considering her age!)

Well.... She IS ugly. But that's neither here nor there. I've seen so many ugly itches with dream lives, jobs, and families. Conversely, so many beautiful women who just cant get a grip, or make a go of it.
Ugly has nothing to do with anything.
I'm not a doctor-and its very complicated. But it seems to me that we can make it through our days if we can just stop each time a problem comes up, to remind ourselves that the solutions are there. There's always an answer, sometimes, multiple answers to each problem. I think some of us give up and check out because we feel we've run out of options.
I also remember reading somewhere that shame is an emotion that relates strongly to suicide. Some people really believe they're no good, internally they feel worhtless. You can see how easy it is for somebody who feels like that to end it all.
