Foul Play Not Suspected In Brittany Murphy's Death
Ed Winter, LA County's Assistant Chief Coroner, told the media last night that at first glance they believe Brittany Murphy died of "natural causes." He explained that they didn't suspect foul play because there were no signs of trauma or other injuries on her body.
They will perform an autopsy either today or tomorrow, even though Brittany's husband Simon Monjack reportedly doesn't want one. This has made some hos deliver Simon a "Jessica Fletcher" side-eye, because he doesn't exactly have a pristine record. But maybe he doesn't want his wife's private business on the front page of the Post. Or maybe he doesn't want an autopsy for religious reasons. Who knows, but Toxicology tests will be performed.
Sources also tell TMZ that Brittany was suffering from flu-like symptoms at the time of her death. The source also claims that no illegal drugs were found in the house, but there were "a lot" of prescription meds around.

I rather think they are. After all, if they think clearly ano Angie can fall pregnant naturally with such well timed pregnancies they will believe anything. As the fairies at the bottom of my garden were telling me.

I remember the story about Murphy only drinking Diet Coke and smoking cigarettes while making Clueless. Jeremy Sisto (he is on Law and Order now) was talking about it in an interview. It would seem weight was a bigh issue for Murphy, like it is for most of Hollyweird.
Poor thing, I feel bad for her family. Its a shame that she passed away.

She was also just fired from a film in South America (or Mexico) and her husband was thrown out of the country. This happened about a month ago. That's pretty harsh so they must have been up to no good. Another hot mess c/o Hollyweird.

Given her history, it makes sense that people will speculate that drugs played a role in this. Even if they did not directly kill her, years of drug use combined with an eating disorder could have left her body very weak and vunerable causing the flu to kill her.

Who knows what the cause was, but my issue is that you CAN NOT always tell someone has an eating disorder by looking at them! They may not look "sick" to you, they may even be of a normal weight (and of course, overweight as BED and compulsive eating are EDs that are more prevalent than the publicized anorexia).
Many people who are, or were, anorexic also have bulimic behaviours, or are full-blown bulimic, as well. Bulimia is probably more dangerous because of what it does to your electrolytes and thus, heart. -Yet because a person may be of a normal weight the sufferer and family may not think treatment is as crucial. There are some findings coming out lately that bulimia may be MUCH more widespread than previously thought (as the non-purging type is still bulimia when exercise or restricting is used to control the eating).
And someone mentioned about diabetes- the condition is called "diabulimia" and it's when diabetics purposely use less insulin than needed to lose weight (that's how their metabolisms work). Very dangerous and damaging.

I always wondered that too, especially since they tell you that stuff in like 6th grade. Anos aren't supposed to get their periods, much less get pregnant, yet Nicole Richie who is disgustingly thin got pregnant pretty easily (or at least it seems so).
Poor girl. She had problems, but everyone does.
Poor girl! I think she died of the Hollywood disease of trying to be the skinniest one in the bunch!
Every body is different and hers obviously need more nutrition that she was giving it!

I read that her costar in King of the Hill tweeted that she had issues and was hanging out with the wrong people and she wished she had helped her. I also read that her mother encouraged her to be skinny. Good job, mom!

how is she looking sickly in this very picture posted for this entry by MK? Yeah she is thin, but I would not say she looks like someone about to collapse because of heart failure and a wrecked body. When she did Clueless she was 17 or 18. She was a teenager. Many girls dont look their best as teenagers. She was a kid. Later she lost the weight and I think she was actually very beautiful and healthy looking in little Black Book and Sin city, 8 mile, just married etc.
And yes to me it actually does come as a huge surprise. I expected Lindsay Lohan or amy Winehouse or even Nicole Richie be next on the list. Not Brittany Murphy. She wasnt an obvious candidate.

Flu-like symptoms are also a sign of diabetes. My mom was sick with what we thought was the flu. Her doctor had her hospitalized and did a blood glucose check. It was 440 (normal is 80-120). Mom was put on insulin and was on dialysis (her kidneys were starting fail) for 4 days.
So if Brittany was exhibiting flu-like symptoms someone should have been monitoring her blood sugar levels and contacting her doctor, and I don't mean Dr. Feelgood.
I've seen it all now- had to check Just Jared to see if they linked her death to their hero and bugger me, post number 3!

So yeah, she looks sickly and it's not a huge shock she died from whatever got her (doubt the H1N1). It's just really sad.

So....you're kidding, right? She's looked sickly for YEARS. Previous commenters have even noted some of the symptoms you list, such as dark circles under the eyes.

Heart disease has signs - especially physical ones. Dark circles around eyes due to bad circulation bec of weakened heart muscles, dullness, tips of fingers darker etc. Anorexia also causes hair falling out etc. What I am trying to say is that there are physical manifestations of anorexia and heart disease. As far as we know, Brittany Murphy never looked sickly. Unlike Nicole Richie, she wasnt in the news as the poster child for anorexia. So her just dropping dead like that, even though she didnt look sick and weak (like Richie or Blohan) is just very strange. Unless she was strapped to an IV because of her supposed anorexia, there is no way she'd drop dead like that due to heart failure from anorexia.
I bet it was prescription drug overdose. Like with Heath Ledger. She was sick and ODed on something.

Except I don't think even the swine flu would kill a normally healthy person. I'm sure there are exceptions, as there are to everything, but the reason the elderly and children are/were priority for the H1N1 and flu shots is because they're more at risk. Pregnant women as well.
Its been said 50 times here already, if she was actually ill with the flu, and she was also sick with something that had already weakened her, say anorexia or long-term drug use, like we all suspect she had (at least one of those), then that could definitely cause a severely weakened heart.
You won't convince me that a normally healthy person would just up and go into cardiac arrest for no reason at 32. We all know stories of "healthy" people dropping dead, but 99.9% of the time they find a previously unknown ailment that caused it during the autopsy.
I can tell you what happened - no autopsy or toxicology tests needed. They would only confirm what everyone already knows: her heart was weakened by years and years of eating disorders, and the drugs she was taking caused the cardiac arrest.
Print it, have the coroner sign it, and we're done.
The heart of a 32 year old doesnt just stop beating. Unless she had some known or congenital heart disease since childhood, there is nothing natural about her just dropping dead like that. I cant believe that this very fact is not raising some serious red flags.
As to her stupid husband: why in the world would he not want an autopsy? She was just 32. How can he not want to know what killed her?

Bottom line: unless an autopsy is done in conjunction with tox tests, there is no way of saying how she died and whether there was foul play involved. A clean scene and bedroom doesnt mean there waa no crime of some sort. Rooms can be cleaned, evidence destroyed etc. I am not saying there was necessarily foul play, but a 32 year old dropping dead like that should raise some serious flags and concerns and require an equally serious investigation. Her husband not wanting an autopsy is just the more suspicious.

It all makes sense now. She is anorexic, takes tons of medication or drugs and she's diabetic. Her skinny puny little body couldn't take anymore. If she mistreated your body for an elongated period of time, then it's bound that her body gave up. I'm still speculative about her husband and what kind of support he was giving her. I'm curious if he was asking her to eat more or take care of herself. Who knows the deal.
Just speculating, but didn't someone say she was diabetic? There is a form of eating disorder where diabetics don't take their medication so they waste away and get too thin......just saying, she was a beautiful girl, but much too sickly and skinny lately, there was something wrong. Dying from a natural disease process might be considered "natural causes?"
It might be unfair to jump to conclusions about her death, but it's also unfair to stick sickly girls onscreen, glorifying them and then send the message to girls everywhere that it's normal. Unless she was method acting parts like a meth head, an anorexic or someone dying of a terminal disease, she was sickly and too skinny. She looked ill.

I agree that at some point you have to take responsibility for your own actions (which is what I think when LL goes and fucks up again) there is of course the issue that if you are vulnerable to addiction etc it is harder to beat it when you are married to/surrounded by enablers. Yes she could have stopped it and sought help but it is hard to do so when no one is encouraging that recovery. A bad crowd is sometimes hard to get away from when it is all you know. It takes incredible willpower to walk away and she probably wasn't strong enough. I think there are so many cases like that in Hollywood where the star is surrounded by enablers. Be it in drug abuse, Scientology shit or anorexia. People like that are surrounded by yes-people.
During her last interview she acknowledged that she was thinner than she would like, but left it at that.
This story is way too sad to make fun of. RIP Brittany Murphy. Tai for life!

In her last public appearance, she looked alarmingly thin. Complications from anorexia sure seems like a possible explanation.
Does anyone else find the "she just got mixed into the wrong crowd" annoying? She's a grown woman who obviously was attracted to whatever the wrong crowd offered. The wrong crowd excuse only works when you are 12 and have no identity. Just because on the surface she appeared bubbly and sweet doesn't mean that she bore no responsibility and it was all the "wrong crowd's" fault that she ended up an addict.

I don't think her husband not wanting an autopsy is that ominous. After all, they were married in a Jewish ceremony, so I presume he and/or she were Jewish, and autopsies are considered a desecration of the body in the Jewish faith.
