Simon Monjack Is Still Talking

Brittany Murphy's husband spoke for the first time yesterday to Access Hollywood about his wife's health at the time of her death. Simon has decided to do some more talking, this time to People Magazine. People said that Simon got weepy throughout the interview, but really wanted to give his side of the rumors floating around there.

On the rumor that Brittany suffered from anorexia:
"These rumors that she was anorexic? It's crazy – she was slim, but that was her natural physique. She tried to gain weight but had one of those metabolisms – a high metabolism – but enjoyed food as much as anyone. I wish I could show all the receipts from the take out restaurants."

On not wanting an autopsy on Brittany's body:
"My initial reaction to the autopsy was – they're going to cut her open – I couldn't bear it. That would break her mother, but we realized we needed to know. I look forward to getting the results."

On the heart murmur she suffered from and what kind of meds she was taking:
"She was on herbal remedies that wouldn't speed up her heart. There was nothing here that could endanger her; there was prescription medication in the house for her female time and some cough syrup. That was it."

On if Brittany died from any kind of overdose:
"I can get rid of that one right now."

On people saying he's a Sleeeeeeze McSleezester:
"So many people have their views of us, but they never met us or sat down with us. I'm not perfect, but I don't think anyone is … I am feeling beyond devastated. I was in love with Brittany and Brittany with me."

TMZ posted a Dr. Murray-approved list of prescription meds (including Klonopin, Vicoprofen and Topamax) that their sources claim was found on Brittany's nightstand. The source said that some of the meds were in Brittany's name, while others were in her mother's and husband's names. So I'm not sure what to think when reading that Simon says Brittany was only taking stuff you find at Whole Foods. Hm. Maybe I shouldn't think at all, and go eat my fifth chocolate covered candy cane of the day instead. Yeah, I'll do that.

natural physique??

does this guy not realize we saw CLUELESS and its known she had plastic surgery???

There was a movie of hers I just watched, it was so bad and all I could think was: WHO IN THE HELL IS HER MANAGER?

Now I know.

Sad ending, going out without a genuine comeback.

Let the poor soul rest in peace! Her family and friends have been through enough!

I also love how people are commenting "so what, i have multiple different prescriptions, that doesn't mean anything." Sure it does when the person that takes them DIES AT 32.
--------------------------------------------

I thought I was the only one weirded out by that. Nowadays, it's de rigeur and much easier to take a bunch of pills rather than make an actual lifestyle change. Let's just treat the symptoms and not the causes.

I wonder how long it will take before he starts shopping a reality series with her mother.

That sounds really heartless.

*******

Why heartless? The man is out doing interviews 24 hours after his death. He has a shady past and appears to have no way of earning income that isn't hers. Same thing with her mother. Pills in their names, dead wife/daughter that they didn't take to the Dr. when she had terrible symptoms. If that isn't enabling a drug habit and unhealthy lifestyle, I don't know what is. Of course, my comments are all speculative.

I'm currently watching Brittany's movie "Deadline" on Netflix XBox and it is eerie. It's about her character being haunted by a woman who was killed by her husband. This is one to check out for any Brittany fans cause she's as good as she always was in it. RIP Brittany.

Brittany could * of course* have suffered from bulimia or any other eating disorder.

Who the fuck knows, right?

When I had an EDNOS, I'd manage to purge food no matter when, where or what.

I looked normal to everyone, why? I could eat anything in moderation and then puke it all out without people knowing.

When there is a will there's is a way was my moto. Not some dumb shit like nothing feels as good as skinny does.

And I wanted to purge anything. Be it a leaf of lettuce or a box of Godiva chocolate. I could do it without anybody knowing it too.

Her douchebag husband probably never knew this was going on... just saying.

" I was in love with Brittany and Brittany with me."

Who talks like that? Wouldn't you say something like 'she loved me'? It sounds like she was dependent on him, not in love with him and he knows it.

Everyone grieves in their own way. Still, it’s hard to feel empathy for a husband who ran to the press to give his side to rumors before his wife was laid to rest. It may be second nature to him but it‘s unsettling to me.

I think it's pretty obvious that she was anorexic, which made it easier for her to OD. Her body was finally like "Fuck this shit." Plus I bet cocaine was involved too.

All I'm sure about at this point is that he's one ugly mofo who asks for privacy but gives (sells) interviews to celeb rags not 24 hours after his beloved wife is carted off to the morgue, What The Hell? I'm afraid his hairy grill will be in front of any camera that doesn't break after a minute of that ugly for a looong time to come.

Until it's confirmed, I'm not jumping to conclusions about the drugs. If I was famous and died and they went through mine, they might conclude that I was mixing meds or addicted to something, however what no one would know until they tested my blood is that I didn't use half of them and that the ones I did take were judiciously used under the care of a conservative doctor. Brittany could have been in the same situation. Ativan and Klonopin shouldn't be used together, but they act differently. If you're having a panic attack, Ativan will kick in more quickly, whereas Klonopin is better for controlling general anxiety, at least from what I've been told.

Anyway, there could be numerous reasons and if that were my spouse, I'd be worried about an autopsy too because there is no privacy. Who wants to see their loved one's reputation dragged through the mud by filthy rags like InTouch?

I hope it eats him alive for the rest of his life, knowing that he could have somehow saved her and didn't because money was more important to him than her well-being. There's a special place in hell for people like him. Thankfully, they didn't have a child.

2) He was only six years older than her, but he looks about 20 years older.

it won't eat him alive, he's probably a psycho...

Oh, and I don't doubt for one second this guy found a meal ticket (quite literally) and latched onto it.

So glad to hear the mom got the estate.

Christ. Given the drugs she was prescribed, it's no wonder half of Hollywood thought she was out her mind. She was!

I swear I can hear her doctors scrambling now...

Topamax is also used to treat various mood disorders, such as bi-polar disorder & depression (off label).

*****

Right. Topamax functions as a mood stabilizer for people w/ bipolar disorder and it does have a side effect of weight loss for some. Carbomezapine, which was also found, is another aniti-convulsant that acts as a mood stabilizer. These combined w/ the antidepressant suggest she may have suffered from some form of bipolar disorder.

I have been prescribed many of these drugs at the same time, except for the Ativan and Klonopin. It's possible she had been taking one and discontinued the other. No reason to take both.

Basically, none of the drugs mentioned I can imagine causing a problem for her unless she took waaay more...I'm thinking it was possibly heart, diabetes or eating related. Or all three.

Time, of course, will tell.

she also allegedly had mitral valve prolapse (the valve doesn't close properly), which i also have. MVP can then sometimes can manifest with tachycardia (scientifically: a mother fucking racing heart rate). normally there are not many symptoms but when you fuck around with drugs/alcohol it can make your heart go on a wild joy ride (it's landed me in the hospita a few times). i'm betting on the heart condition and the drug combo, maybe an overdose but sad all around. i mean i know i've taken many of those same drugs in combination sometimes with alcohol and that scared the shit out of me today...

Fuck this douchebag. His wife just died two days ago and he's already blabbing to the media? Doesn't he need to, I don't know, grieve? What a slimeball.
__________

Honestly. And the way he says, "I was in love with Brittany and she with me... ?" I can't judge how other people grieve but if it were me, I'd still be a sobbing mess on the floor, screaming, "I'm still in love with you... you're gone and I'm still in love with you..."

And all this talk about female problems scares me. Sometimes I have bad periods where it's not even pain but intense, fetal position neccessary DISCOMFORT, sometimes it's nothing, sometimes it's just my back. But whenever I mention it, my cousin always says, "Maybe you're perimenopausal like me." She thinks everyone is these days but I just want to be like, can't it be a little case of dysmenorrhea? But she does scare me. She had fibroids that were twice removed and her doctor recommended a hysterectomy which she has ignored for two years.

jalynne's picture

These are actually medications that could be given for someone with dysmenorrhoea or PERIODS from HELL. Topomax-migraine meds, Klonopin- anti-spasm cramp pills, and Ativan-mood stabilizers for PMS... i take all the same stuff, nothing special.

Topamax (anti-seizure med also prevents migraines),

Klonopin (anti-seizure/anti-anxiety med used off-label for restless leg syndrome, epilepsy and insomnia),

Ativan (while an anti-anxiety med is also used to treat short-term insomnia),
*******************************************************************

Topamax is also used to treat various mood disorders, such as bi-polar disorder & depression (off label).

http://www.psycom.net/depression.central.topiramate.html

I took it for depression for about a week but had to stop because it zombified me to the point where I couldn’t even leave the house. My crazy ass mother took it for her bi-polar disorder for about a year until the quack doctor she was seeing at the time decided he wanted to use her to experiment with another new drug the pharmaceutical company was giving him samples of.

And why the fuck was she taking Klonopin & Ativan at the same time? They’re both essentially the same thing, the only difference is Klonopin is stronger & has a sort of “time-release” effect that makes it work slowly over a period of hours, rather than giving you that quick “high” that something like say, Xanax (or Ativan) does. I’m not a doctor, but I really can’t understand why she would be taking both, unless one of them was her mother’s or husband’s or something. It’s basically just double dosing.

At any rate, these 3 appear to be one super drugged up family.

parkerj's picture

the problem with all this...is that he's shifty lying con.

He's putting on an innocent front now - oh those were meds for you know, her "female problems" - so that when the tragic autopsy report comes back, he can claim shock and ignorance.

It can be but speaking from experience, I used to experience severe migraines that kept me in bed for at least a day and cramps from hell. (Taking EFA in the form of fish oil actually helped a lot.)

I have had friends who experienced horrible mood swings, too. It is possible Murphy suffered from all the above.

Depends on what kind of symptoms you experience around that time of the month. Some woman get severe anxiety, some pain, other gets crazy migranes.

I don't get sh-t but I had a friend who couldn't get out of bed during her period. She couldn't handle the pain. I never understood it but everyone's different I guess.

Whatever happened to Michael Jackson's autopsy and Dr. Murray?

Hi..basically the autopsy said that Michael had some plaque buildup in the arteries of his lower extremities and had a lung infection which would have made it difficult for him to breathe. He had a bunch of make up tattooes (pink lips, black eyeliner, black eyebrows) and brown and white blotches all over his body. He also had burn and surgery scaring around his head and surgical scars around his nose. He had his natural afro hair, which was cut short, but he was balding and had a black tattoo over the balding part so his wigs would blend better. They found that the drugs in his system were all at a therapeutic level EXCEPT for the propofol which was at a lethal level. The way they found out about the dose of propofol was by cutting out a piece of his brain.

LAPD is still investigating. I've heard reports that the FBI may be involved as well.

I took Topomax for years, it doesn't always make you lose weight, it levels off. It alters how your food tastes, like Coca-Cola tastes horrible etc... You lose your short-term memory for a while too.
