Where's Blanket?

Here's Prince Michael Jr. and Paris Jackson accepting their late father's lifetime achievement award at the Grammy Awards tonight. To answer my own question above, I think Blanket couldn't make it because he was meeting with the lawyers to legally change his nickname to Snuggie. It is 2010 after all.

I know we watched Paris speak at her father's memorial, but it still is kind of strange hearing them talk. I guess I expect them to sound as quiet as a butterfly's flutter (sorry Mimi) like their father. Prince Michael Jr. is so eloquent and so professional-like! If he was trying to sell me car insurance, I wouldn't buy it because I don't have a car. But I would be impressed with his pitch.

And I know some of you think that Joe Jackson's strong pimp hand forced the kids to get on stage, but I'm not sure about that. If that was the case, Prince Michael Jr. would've kick, ball changed before name dropping Joe's stupid ass Blu-ray production company.

UPDATE: Below is the 3D Michael Jackson tribute featuring Celine Dion, Tameka Foster's former tucker, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwears and Smokey Robinson. It's basically a SCREAM OFF. You might be better off trying to find a 3D clip of Captain EO to watch. Well, unless you want to see what Beyonce and RiRi looked like while watching Avatar.

Poor Poor Kids

---------
Celebrity News

I have to say, it's absolutely amazing that there are so many skilled professionals on Dlisted who can come to a conclusion about Michael Jackson's parenting skills on the basis of a short, scripted speech on a long, scripted awards show.

I am in awe.

Granny Frump, you made my day, thank you.To the writers of so many idiotic comments, I can only recommend " Tai Ging Seng " to increase the blood ciculation in your brains, before you dare to pontificate over Michael Jackson and his family.

Albatross's picture

I just watched the performance, and I thought everybody involved did a good job. I liked how they let Michael sing some parts and sang backup. That was pretty cool.

"No escapin' when I start
Once I'm in, I own your heart"

I'm really horrified by some of the nonsensical comments on here. Why can't people just accept that Michael Jackson was a good father? All this pedo talk is ridiculous, and it's time the public owns up to it and stops believing every crumb the media dished out for profit. Both of his accusers had families with criminal histories for extortion so you do the math. When I look at Paris and Prince, I see heartbroken kids who love and miss their dad and I can't help but feel for their loss, as anyone with a single shred of empathy would. Who their biological father is doesn't even matter, what matters is the parent that raises you and loves you. Michael was their father, he earned that title. Let it go and let these poor children morn their father and stop with the negativity, it's so sad.

Prince looks like a young Corey Feldman... but Michael was their father and it appears he was a great father.

dlaugher's picture

On topic, i kinda liked the song. If Michael really wrote it, then i think he still had some good music left in him. That came as a surprise to me. However, was anyone else struck by Michael Jackson, of all people, going "green"? The guy had a carbon footprint of a couple of thousand people easy!

Apart from the issue of why MJ's kids were there accepting the award, why were the Jackson "cousins" on stage? Huh?

No way those kids are MJ's biological kids. Absolutely not.

flo's picture

"I'm sure they all came from the best genetic material money could buy..."

WOW! There are genetics that can be purchased for well mannered children now? No, they couldn't have possibly been raised well could they... Absolutely ridiculous the great lengths people will go to discredit anything that has to do with MJ.

People can argue all they want on whether or not their Michael's kids biologically, but at the end of the day anyone's opinion on the matter is irrelevant.

I think the boy looks like Rob Blagojevich is his real Father. And the girl looks like Bristol Palin. Is Sarah her Mom? Not disrespecting the late MJ, I'm just saying...they look more like them than MJ. Bizarre.

rukiddingme's picture

Off topic of the Jacksons and just Grammy's in general....Everytime I have ever heard Taylor Swift sing live on an awards show, she's sucked and been off-key...big time. I felt sorry for Stevie Nicks who had to stand next to her last night and listen to her butcher Fleetwood Mac's hit, Rhiannon.

I'm pretty good at judging situations and seeing this makes me really uncomfortable.

And WTF is up with those red bands around their arm? They look like members of the Hitler jugend.

KidL's picture

I can't believe there are people who truly think MJ was the bio father of these kids or any kids for that matter.

JaneDoe's picture

seriously people? whether or not MJ is their biological father, he is their father. sometimes it doesn't take blood connection to make someone your father. sometimes, your father is the one who always there for you all the time though he's not your father by blood. So what if he's not the biological father? for them, he is their father. and that's enough.

Bowchickawawa's picture

The kids are rolled out and made to talk about "Daddy" (like they are all 5 years old!) in an effort to remind people that MJ was "a loving father"...not a pedo...see! he's just like us...not! It doesn't work on me though. It all seems contrived. Most kids that are as well spoken and poised as his look to be don't refer to their parents as Mommy and Daddy when they are addressing the public. I think they were told to refer to him as "Daddy" instead of saying "my Dad" or something else that would be more appropriate for their age and the occassion.

evoandflash's picture

I do wonder who's choice it was to have the kids accept Michael's award. Overall, the Prince and Paris did a great job and I wish them the best.

Oh and does the paternity thing need to come up every single time? It's not like it brings us any closer to the truth.

Did anyone still believe they were MJ's anyway? I thought I remembered an interview with one of MJ's siblings where they were asked if they were biologically MJ's kids and they said something to the affect of 'they are his in all the ways that count' or something. Pretty much an acknowledgement his sperm never went into a womans vagina, via himself or a medical professional.

I don't care what anyone says...MJ didn't father those kids. Sorry I am not buying it.

I'm not saying they didn't get a lot of love and support when MJ was alive (they seem to be the most well adjusted of the family) but Jackson DNA don't run through them veins.

Strange how the family is letting the world get a look at them when MJ went to greath lenghts to keep their looks a secret. Michael wasn't stupid. I believe he KNEW that if his reputation wasn't cleaned up by him before his death, his kids would help him achieve that goal.

Prince needs to be in pictures. He should be cast as the next Harry Potter. What an elegant kid.

I have to say, the Jackson boys are good looking bunch. I'm so shocked the grampa hasn't peddled them out for fame yet. I know Tito's boys had a group and had one hit I think.

I think the next gen of Jacksons should go out there. The last bunch are a bunch of sad sacks with the exception of Janet of course.

"Kanye had nothing to do with Swift winning. I read her CD was the best selling #1 of the year. Of anybody. If you have a safe white-girl act with huge sales, she's a Grammy lock. I remember one year when the audience sat open-mouthed at Sheryl Crowe walking past U2 and other biggies to collect a truck-load of Grammys for a commercial jingle."

Okay, Doc. It was just a general American love of safe, white girl/boy mediocrity. I humbly stand corrected. This reminds me of Christopher Cross (I'm old) and legions of other bits of flotsam that have won big at the Grammys over the years. I quit watching mainstream award shows years ago because I have NO LOVE for safe, white girl/boy acts.

But you know, I still think there's something to that whole Kanye debacle. It was quite telling; for a while I wondered if Kanye was going to get Emmit Till(ed).

Edited to add: I'm sure Swift's cd sales rose tremendously after she was "assaulted" by Yeezy.

The Grammy's were better than usual. The only category I cared about was Best Rock Album and my favorites won, Green Day. I also loved their performance of my favorite Green Day song, 21 Guns, with the cast of their new Broadway show.

I'm still drying off from Pink's performance. Does anyone just sing anymore? Maybe that's how they justify charging so much for tickets. In my youth, you went to a concert and watched and heard people sing. There wasn't all these big production numbers.

I like Lil' Wayne and Eninem, when we got to hear them. I know plenty of things get silenced during parts of many such songs, but entire portions of songs?

The MJ tribute was nice. It was good they used his message to pay tribute and not just have people sing a bunch of his songs, but the most moving part of the awards was hearing Andrea Bocelli sing. Every time I hear him, I tear up. He has such a gorgeous voice, especially singing a moving, classic song with Mary J. You may not have noticed the montage of Haiti pictures behind them, but the last part of it was an amazing story. If you haven't heard of it, you can see it at the link below....

"Okay...I'm officially barfing..Taylor Swift won for album of the year....fucking unbelievable. Someone nail me to the cross."

Blame it on Kanye. It's Yeezy's fault. The best thing to ever happen to that squinty mediocrity Taylor Swift was Kanye West disrespecting that delicate white blossom. He set this fuckery in motion. It was a 21st century Birth Of A Nation moment for the "majority" population and Swift has benefited from that brutal and uppity attack on young white womanhood ever since.

Joe Jackson is a part of their lives which is kind of scary to hear. He also claims that it was his and Katherine's idea to put them up there. God I hate him.

...My darling can't you see
My heart sounds just for you my dear...

It's so pukey that someone on my facebook feed was all, "What a great night! TS won album of the year!" Retard.

I really like that MJ song and the performance tonight was good too. Not a huge fan of anyone singing it, but it worked for me. I like the preacherly rhythm of it.

I don't care what you think, but that boy sounds EXACTLY like Michael...

Many pubescent boys do.

I don't care what you think, but that boy sounds EXACTLY like Michael, only his voice is a little bit deeper. My God I hope they grow up to be well-adjusted young adults and then take over where their father left off. MJ lives!!!!!!!!!!

Taylor Swift just won...I feel so fucked up. Seriously, my heart stopped. Yes, yes, I know...Britney was nominated for "best new artist" once, and that did kill much of the Grammys for me, but for BEST ALBUM???! That shit used to go to good work, even if no one outside of pretentious music circles even knew the artist. This is absurd. Seriously, I want to eat everything I'm so annoyed. And does she KNOW that this was bought for her? When I was in high school I was in this open mic night club, and some girl like her always performed. It's like high school songwriting 101, which does require talent, but cMON. And did you see Stevie Nicks' face?! And John Legend's? I think everyone in the music business kind of wants to commit suicide right now.

squiggles's picture

Very sweet, brave, mature kids trying to hold it together. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if it was entirely their idea to get up there. They're a testament to the kind of dad MJ was.

The rest of this show was a mess. And I say that every damn year.

onthefringe's picture

I wasn't a fan of MJ but I do like that he used the immense attention he was given to sing about something other than the usual bs love songs.

Of course his biggest hits were the lyrically boring songs.
