There Goes John Mayer's "Hood Pass"
Since John Mayer's publicist is standing on a ledge somewhere and everyone is throwing shit bombs at his front door, he decided he should probably apologize for using the n-word during an interview with Playboy Magazine.
In the interview (click here for the full enema), John gave oral to his foot by saying that his penis is the president of the "I Heart David Duke" fan club. John also used the n-word when he farted about how black people love him so much that they gave him a "hood pass."
John said he was oh-so-sowwy on his Twitter page:
"Re: using the 'N word' in an interview: I am sorry that I used the word. And it's such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there's no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged.
And while I'm using today for looking at myself under harsh light, I think it's time to stop trying to be so raw in interviews. It started as an attempt to not let the waves of criticism get to me, but it's gotten out of hand and I've created somewhat of a monster. I wanted to be a blues guitar player. And a singer. And a songwriter. Not a shock jock. I don't have the stomach for it. Again, because I don't want anyone to think I'm equivocating: I should have never said the word and I will never say it again.I just wanted to play the guitar for people. Everything else just sort of popped up and I improvised, and kept doubling down on it..."

He said it was silly to use "n-word" if you mean to say "nigger"; as soon as you say/think one, you automatically think of the other so what's the point of using "n-word"? Stupid.

Okay, dude there are so many things wrong with what you said, I've no idea where to begin. This guy, John Mayer, is just an attention whore, he wanted to be cool and cocky and he stuck his foot in his mouth. He would not even be sorry for the things he said if everyone on Twitter was not calling him a fucker. Even if he does have it (which I highly fucking doubt) having Aspergers or not does not give you a free pass to say whatever you want in the media. Even I know that. When someone does something wrong, it doesn't automatically mean that they need to be assigned a label to excuse what they've done. If we did that then nobody would ever be held accountable for anything, would they?

One person's Asperger's is another's Attention Whore Syndrome.
Asperger's isn't the new black, it's a complex condition that can manifest in many different ways and while one person here who has Asperger's and blogged about it said Mayer's behavior wasn't representative of someone with Asperger's, I beg to disagree.
I have an MS in Education and raised a son with Asperger's, which is an autistic spectrum disorder and often one of the hallmark signs is a lack of social skills. Some people with Aspberger's are quiet and withdraw and keep to themselves and others do the opposite--like Mayer. They often describe the socially offensive Asperger's person as one who has no verbal "filter." I work with special ed students and many, many exhibit this kind of behavior. I really don't think Mayer intends to offend, he just tries too hard to be interesting and likes to play with words and it often backfires. He is very typical of kids I've worked with and explains his immaturity.
I find it hard to believe anyone thinks he's actually mean-spirited and can't see how hard he wants to be liked. He's just a social idiot. And even if you don't like his music, you have to agree he plays the blues guitar like a genius. He's a gifted guy, just clueless and likely the xanax he takes doesn't help matters since it makes one more uninhibited.
You think if the magazine had spelled the word "nigga" instead of "nigger" it would have made a difference? Black people only say "nigger" when they are talking shit about someone so it's still derogatory. "Nigga", as we all know, is a term of endearment.
I read that whole interview (due to extreme boredom at work) and I think you accomplished your mission, John! That was definitely a "fuck you" for 2010.
