Celebrity Rehab: Family Edition
A couple of weeks ago, Brooke Mueller checked herself into rehab to get the crack devil (that's the rumor) off her back. Well, E! News says that Charlie Sheen has also shuffled off to rehab AGAIN. And if that isn't messy enough, TMZ says that Brooke and Charlie's twin sons are in rehab with their mother! This reminds me of how my friend said his mom would take him to AA meetings when he was a child and tell him to go play with the coffee filters in the corner while the grown-ups cried.
Sources tell TMZ that Brooke changed rehab facilities, because one of the staff members was trying to sell her private information to the media. Brooke is now staying at a house that offers inpatient rehab services. The joint allowed Brooke to bring her kids and their nannies.
As for Charlie, his rep seemed to downplay his rehab stay by calling it a "preventative measure." Here's the full statement:
"As a preventative measure, Charlie Sheen has entered a rehabilitation facility. He will take some time off his series Two and a Half Men. He has asked that his privacy be honored."
I hope Irv Richards is wearing his Blublockers today, because Denise Richards' halo is probably shining brighter than usual.

@Ophel: I forgot about that. Both of them had alcohol in their system at 7am in the morning. Brooke's BAC was legally wasted, while I think Sheen's BAC was like .08 or something . Either way, who does that unless there is crack, or an "upper" with it?
When I drink a lot I am so tired, I go to sleep. Never would I be capable of staying up to 7am and drinking. Oh, that's right, I don't use drugs!
In rehab, the patient is cut off from their family for a reason. They want Brooke to get better, and do it herself, sans interruption. Look at all the rehab places on Intervention. I don't think you can even read a newspaper until thirty days in treatment. This is so you focus on you, not your husband, children, mother, etc.
I have a funny feeling that the more expensive these places are, the more lax they are as well.
I have never in my experience, seem a case where one can see their children within 24 hours in rehab, babies, or not.
they were BOTH under the influence when the incident happened so he has to take some responsibility in this mess as well. Trying to sugar coat it as 'preventative' is counterproductive and feeds into his obvious denial so basically, this stint in rehab will not have any affect and is just for show.
oh and while he's in there someone should tip toe into his room in the middle of night and sterilize him.
As a preventative measure, Charlie Sheen should not be allowed to procreate ever again.
What a waste of sperm.

I think having the kids there diminishes the impact of what her addictions did. I think for a truly caring mother who wants to get clean for real, the impact of being separated from her children for x amount of time would be so agonizing that it could serve as a deterrant for a relapse. When you make rehab to comfy and convenient, I think the message is..."Oh rehab is not so bad...If I fall off the wagon again, I can totally do this...I have my kids, my nannies (and god only knows what other 'luxuries')' No, rehab needs to be like boot camp, not like a freakin' spa with child care prov

It is not a drug rehabillitation's place to evaluate the parent/child dynamic. If they want to assist in that, GREAT, but that is the job of CPS and court ordered supervision. You get drug rehab doing too much, overstepping their bounds and it's not good...Look at what these "spa rehabs" do? Do they help these pampered fools stay clean? No. Rehab has EXTREMELY limited usefulness. In the end, it's up to the patient to UTILIZE what he/she learned in rehab...

According to TMZ, both Brooke and Charlies mothers are at their LA home to car for the twins. The twins are allowed to come and "visit" Brooke in rehab. They are not staying there.

Rehabs I believe CAN help those who truely want help and want to get clean and sober.
As for the majority of celebrites, they use rehab as a way of skimping out of jail time. So, useless.

The term "success" would need to be satisfactorily defined, and should not equate "remain partially sober for a period equal or greater than the span of time it takes to vomit when glimpsing a pic of Gary Busey's abscessed liver."
