What In The....?

Life & Style never ever fail me. They have topped themselves this week. Seriously, they should submit this to the Whitney Biennial.

For this week's cover story, Life & Style brought in a few "experts" (aka anybody who answered the phone when they called) to discuss why St. Angie Jo is making 3-year-old Shiloh look like your lesbian junior high school gym teacher who you ran into once at the grocery store when she was with her girlfriend. They are basically calling Shiloh "Chaz Bono Jr." because she has a Sandy Duncan haircut and wears polo shirts. Somebody give me a wall to bang my head against.

And the quotes from these experts must have been written by Christopher Guest. Just picture Jennifer Coolidge or Catherine O'Hara saying this mess and it might make it less frustrating and more hilarious (not really):

Alana Kelen, senior fashion stylist at VH1: “Shiloh is pushing the boundaries of a tomboy look and crossing over to cross-dresser territory."

Gili Rashal-Niv, celebrity stylist: "I get that times are tough but does Angie really need to have Shiloh sharing clothes with her brothers? Hopefully we won’t be seeing Maddox in one of Shiloh’s dresses any time soon.”

Glenn Stanton, director of Family Formation Studies at the conservative organization Focus on the Family: "They need help, they need guidance of what that looks like. It’s important to teach our children that gender distinction is very healthy.”

Karen Deerwester, parenting coach:Giving preschool-age children the freedom and flexibility to experiment with how they want to be seen in the world is a wonderful gift."

So Shiloh is a cross-dressing 3-year-old because she likes to wear Bugle Boy jeans? We really need saving. I'm not even close to being a member of the delusional gang called the Brangaloonies, but I doubt St. Angie or Billy Goat Brad forced Shiloh to cut her hair. Kids wear what kids want to wear. Posh & Becks' boys are always going around in straight-up costumes and nobody is ringing the CPS alarm on them. I mean, when I was her age I wore a kangaroo costume out in public and put barrettes in my curly fro. And I turned out completely norma- Wait, that's a terrible example. Strike that from the record.

Maybe St Angie was right about her reluctance to have bio kids...they have a child with gender/species issues and now the rumors are that the twins are also "special"... ________________________________________________

My hunch is that she cut her hair herself or one of her siblings did it for her. The bangs are wonky and it looks like a hair stylist did the best they could to even it out and fix it. What I don't get is why her hair looks thicker and a much darker shade of blonde with it shorter. I realize that hair fluffs up once you cut it and take the weight off the roots but this is too much fluff for that. Plus, she has little-girl, thin hair in her long haired photo. There wasn't that much weight on it in the first place.

This is some gender hating, child abusing, press. Check out the little stripper shoes to the right of the child who dares to be different. WTF

Wow, a little girl is able to threaten society simply by wearing something else than 'standard little girl wear'.

Would they rather have her dress like NOAH CYRUS, eh??

gagmewithaspoon's picture

When I was that age I gave myself a sort of modified half mohawk, the kid I baby sat for later put a few bald spots in his 'do and my best friend's daughter cut a chunk out of the back her hair. Moral of the story is, when you see a kid with a crazy haircut,it's a safe bet that somebody forgot to hide the scissors. I'm sure Shiloh dresses herself at this point, too. C'mon people! They have 43 kids, you think she has time to dress all of them?

stinkbutt's picture

Either she's going to be a dyke, or she's not WHO CARES!! The more parents discourage what you want the more shame you feel, and if this is who she truly is, then why make her dress another way, and make her feel bad. I was the same way, and yes I'm a lesbian, but I had my bitch sister making me feel like shit every time I dressed like a boy, so I changed, and became very feminine. In that instance it was good for me, because I actually found out that I really enjoyed putting makeup on, and girls clothes so much more. However, the way she went about it was so fucked up, and made me feel shameful for the way I was feeling at that time, and I think that's fucked up. Of course this child is still pretty much a baby, and this is what her natural gravitation is to, so who cares. I think the parents are right in letting her naturally be who she is without telling her NO, you can't wear this, because society says if you do..blah, blah, blah, that's such bull shit!! In fact, my niece is going to have a boy, and guess what? I'm going to give the kid his first bowtie, and it's going to be PINK!

Khensu Hetep's picture

The alarmist nuance of these headlines could affect her at a very young age, causing her to feel outcasted and strange to society.

I know how I feel about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, but their daughter doesn't deserve this, and if I were Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie, I would intervene with Life & Style magazine.

Believe me, you aren't really that fucking important.

In the seventies parents made their toddler boys look like girls.

Meh. I think this is all Angelina's doing. Remember when she first adopted Maddox and suddenly he was all "punk"? It's an image thing.

Centaurious's picture

I watched a special recently about gender identity in which the kids knew at like, 3 years old that they wanted to identify with the other gender.

Family support is key.

I'm not saying that this is their issue, but if so, it's their business.

IMHO.

Who knows what's really going on in that family but my impression, from things Angie has said in interviews, is that it's not a very healthy environment.

I'm not so sure about adopting kids of a different race *and* have bio kids. It's bound to cause insecurity, especially for Zahara. I'm not sure Angie has the intellect for handling the situation in the best way. I think she bent over backwards to make Z feel secure but Shiloh may have ended up getting the short end of the stick. Angie once said that
Brad spoiled Z and she could get anything from him. She didn't say he spoiled "the girls", just Zahara. Angie looked at Shiloh as someone born into "privilege" while the other children were born into suffering (and inferred that was more noble). She also was conflicted about having bio kids.

Maybe Shiloh would've been boyish anyway but the fact that Angie's screwed in the head makes me wonder if she's screwing up her kids.

Using kids on weekly rag is wrong unless the parents make a few millions. Is that how it goes?

mbar's picture

I think it has something to do with the fact that she was born into an orphanage basically and then like a year after she was born, they replaced her with TWO look-alike "chosen ones". Thus she is already rebelling to get attention from her barely there parents. She like, "FINE! If I don't get to be the most beautiful girl in the world and get the attention I was supposed to get, then I'll turn into a boy!" They should have let her be the baby of the family for a few years...TOO MANY KIDS.

i always thought being a tomboy was a way of being, not a matter of looking like a boy.

and thats not a pixie haircut. not at all. that haircut has no more to do with audrey hepburn's pixie than it has to do with telly savalas.

angelina is a freak, and the child may not like dresses, and may well like hats. fine. i still think angelina pushes it.

"Nope, they are not socialising this child properly. She is a little girl and should be brought up as a little girl, end of story, unless she chooses differently when she is older.

At three or four she is not even aware of these gender differences yet.

This is actually very frightening to me."

************************************************

please define "should be brought up as a little girl"-wtf do you mean?
she is a little girl whether she is wearing a stereotypical pink fluffy dress or these clothes, the fact that our society applies a gender to clothes just shows how petty and rediculous it is.

"At three or four she is not even aware of these gender differences yet."

yes because gender is a social construct-thats a good thing she doesnt know what that is. the fact your bitching about this says more about you then it does her and her parents.

and in fact people like you frighten me, because
to echo my earlier comment your type gets pissed off when people dont conform to their "place in society" because you dont want to realise most of us are not walking stereotypes but actually are human beings with idiosyncrasies. people who differ from these stereotypes get a lot of unneeded bullshit from people like you with your opinions so how about you go out into the world and actually see how complex and different real people are.

and @ Myntee, totally agree!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way Shiloh looks, not all girls are girly girls.

But I will say, I do think her look is (or at least has been) completely orchestrated by Brangelina. They've been dressing her in all black, boyish clothes since she was a baby. She's actually a very cute little girl, but her parents (I'm guessing Angelina) seem to want to 'ugly' her up...sad to be jealous of a 3 year old.

Myntee's picture

Who gives a shit? she's a human being. I think it's terribly unhealthy to define a child by their gender. Who decided what is for boys and what is for girls any way? Was there a meeting I missed?
And even if she grows up to be a huge butch lesbian, does it really matter as long as she's happy?
I'm a single mother of two little boys, I let them have dolls, I let them put on my shoes and carry my purses and wear nail polish and make up. They are both perfectly fine and as far as i'm aware any way, not gay or cross dressing.
People need to chill out.

Suri and Shiloh may become a future item only Suri will dress like the man and Shiloh will wear the fancy dresses. That should make their mediaho parents happy.

andrea's picture

maybe they want the attention off them, so they are doing it by making shiloh as unattractive as possible (and that's hard cuz she's still pretty cute!)

LisaRose's picture

When you have kids you totally accept whatever they like. This is what Shiloh likes so more power to them to give that to her. What's funny to me is how the two most watched children in the world - Shiloh and Suri - are the complete opposite of each other. So yin and yang. Loves it! :)

Shiloh was so adorable. I figured she'd grow up into a bombshell, a blonde Angelina. but if she goes the way of Chaz Bono, nothing wrong with it... they do dress her in a very masculine way, and that is not a typical little girls' bowlcut (I had a short bowlcut but it was more feminine looking)

Sayonara's picture

As long as she is not wearing a pair of drawers on her head. Who cares?

Mad Cobra vs. Mad Lion

Until Shiloh can buy her own fucking clothes she should not be allowed to wear whatever the fuck she wants. She's not the parent afterall. This shit is totally fucked up!

And by the hack job on her bangs, I am betting she cut her hair herself.

What's wrong with it? You don't believe sexuality / gender identity is something you are born with?

Anyway, it's just a feeling I got every time I would see her in pics...it's different than a girl just not conforming to "gender norms" or being a "tomboy". she's masculine looking to me. Chaz Bono had that same look about him when he was Shiloh's age. Nothing wrong with it, it is what it is...just sayin' though.

Either way, if she grows up to be a hetero or a lesbian or a transsexual, I hope she's mentally and physically healthy. Good luck to her on the first part. :D

Whatever's picture

Up next at 5:00 Shiloh farts.

azgirl's picture

When I was 3 my parents had to cut off my hair like this because I decided it would be fun to put tons of chewed gum in my hair. That could be why her hair is like this. You never know.

As far as clothes go, who cares. I would rather see this then her dress like a hooker in training.

I'm starting to get annoyed with this thread now that I really read the comments.

My 4 year old son likes to put on my make up in the mornings. He sneaks silently into my room before I get up and uses my blush and my lipstick. Occasionally makes a bad attempt with my mascara. He is also playing with trucks all day and thinks he is monster who will destroy Batman. I gave him a Barbie doll a few weeks ago to see his reaction and he licked between her legs and then slammed her up against a wall. I don't know why he did that but lol at kids never being boring.

So like, you can't tell gender preference at such a young age. Kids love to play around and experiment and how can shit have to do with their sexuality before they reach puberty? It's not of interest to them. Seems like a lot of you retards think sexuality develops long long long before puberty.

tomahawk's picture

holy shit - i don't understand you people - or in other words i'm an alien D: i was exactly the same (like shiloh) when i was a kid. but i think by three i found lipstick and pink pretty cool. anyways. i always wanted to have short hair (never was allowed to), i wore boy's clothes (ok, ive got a big brother) and i liked it that way. i always hated being put in typical girly clothes. and i'm a 100% heterosexual woman.
in fact the only thing i like about brangelina is that they leave their kids be (in this case).
what disturbes me more is that millions of people discuss the sexuality of a three year old.

Shiloh's pics remind me of when I was in high school, the school newspaper published pics of the teachers when they were babies/kids and we had to pick out who was whom...we had this history teacher who was the dykiest dyke to ever dyke...don't mean to sound offensive but this lady is a butchy butch...anyway, her pic was the easiest to figure out because she looked like a little boy even back then. she had a bowl cut and although girls can have bowl cuts, there was something just masculine looking about her, even though you somehow knew it was a little girl. Shiloh reminds me of that...there's something just masculine about her. so we'll see if she does come out in 15 - 20 years.

sorry about this folks but my gaydar always went off when I'd see pics of Shiloh. if I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but I fully expect her to come out in 15 or 20 years...or sooner.

Husbands_and_Wives's picture

Her parents clearly started her on wearing boys clothes and now she prefers it. She'll probably grow out of it later. It's more disturbing to me that this child never ever smiles.

Anyway, all I know is is that Angelina and Brad are complete and utter morons who don't have a clue about raising children.

...My darling can't you see

Oh for fucks sake that's fucking sick. Embracing a 3 year old TRANSGENDER CHILD?
***********************************

Um. Every child should get embraced.

I know two transgendered (if that's the right phrasing even) kids. You know what? If you don't talk about it, they don't talk about it. The kids notice but they don't make fun - they say: "Why do you wear girls clothes?" and he says: "Cuz I like them" - The end. Sometimes they'll talk behind his back but without any reinforcement of anything on our part it usually goes like this: "It's so weird blah blah wears girls clothes. Why does he do that?" "I don't know." The end.
Really - a lot of things for kids are not a big deal until someone comes along an makes it a big deal.

I should mention that this child comes from a normal 2 parent home and has a younger sister and older brother - like, totally normal, except his parents let him dress how he wants and he lives in a community committed to acceptance.
