Dakota Fanning Does Her Best Cherie Currie Impersonation
You know that time you were drunk while watching I Am Sam and your neighbor was blasting The Runaways next door (just go with me)? Did you ever think then that you'd hear that little girl singing Cherry Bomb? Well, life has once again delivered the unexpected, because here's Dakota Fanning doing just that with Kristen Stewart for that Runaways movie.
I know Dakota Fanning is practically a grown up now who can pee pee on her own and drive a big car instead of a Big Wheel, but hearing her sing this is a little weird. I get the same feeling when watching a Kidz Bop commercial.
And to be honest, I'd rather listen to a mentally challenged Sean Penn sing Cherry Bomb.

I am a smidge too young to remember this group but I do remember in high school my best friend's family knows Joan Jett and they were saying how they just came from a wedding together or some shit. All I could think was "who the fuck is Joan Jett?"
Of course, I know all that shit now, but it's so funny to me that I was once the little teenager who didn't know who she was.
Wasn't Cherie Currie one of the girls in that film Foxes with Jodie Foster from about 30 years ago?

Her voice sounds ok but the production is terrible -- absolutely none of the spirit of the original song -- it sounds like a parody version meant to make fun of greasy middlebrow Hollywood idiots. Remember in Natural Born Killers there's a satirical scene from a crappy tv movie about the two main characters and the actors playing the Juliette Lewis and Woody Harrelson characters are all well-groomed and driving a shiny new car? That's what this reminds me of.
