Radar reports that Blohan's gig was a bust and she cleared the dancefloor faster than Snooki's crotch. One party ho said, "Lindsay was clearly struggling to play the set on her own and had to ask Gareth for help. She seemed like a total drunken, incoherent mess. It was really embarrassing to watch. You could tell she didn't know what she was doing. Lindsay constantly had a drink in her hand the whole time she was playing."
I guess Lindsay thinks that just because she munched on SamRo's salmon pot pie for all those years, she suddenly has what it takes to be a DJ. The saying "You are what you eat" does not ring true in this instance.
And what do people expect anyway? When you order up a Lindsay Lohan, you're going to get a giant serving of "drunk incoherent mess." That's just the way it is. My guess is that Nokia wanted to jump on the whole "grandmas as DJs" bandwagon, but they couldn't afford DJ Ruth.

Re: Heki and 80's music. My 20-something kid loves it and knows all the groups, songs, styles, words and such. I, on the other hand, spent the 80's in New York, clubbing big time, dancing to all the music and I don't know any of it beyond faint memories. I wasn't into the substances Lindsey is, simply because they didn't appear available to me. I was quite happy abusing my booze, thank you very much but it's all the same in the end. I too hope she has a moment of clarity and turns things around for herself before she has to hit rock bottom, end up doing serious time in the slammer or make her family bury her because of her addictions and behaviors. Okay, I have a question. I don't go to clubs, and know absolutely nothing about it, but is being a DJ that hard? I assume it's about having a big record collection and picking music that people want to hear. I don't know how much skill is involved there.

Well, for one, I think you have to have your playlist planned in advance so that you can mix the tempos of each song as it transitions. There should be no awkward silence between the songs. Then if you are more creative you can mix the songs so the next song is a surprised - kind of like a mashup during the transition. You have to get the timing right and fade them together otherwise it can sound terrible. It's not rocket science but I think it would be hard to do loaded. It does take focus, planning and
concentration.

The playlist isn't really planned in advance...although you have to know what kinds of music you're gonna play that night...depending on the crowd. As a song plays...the DJ listens in his headphones to another song...getting the beats to match up. He uses his hand sometimes to push the record along a bit to get the beats to match. Then when the time is right...he turns the volume up on the second record to mix it in with the first...and then turns the first one off. BINGO...DJ-ing...in a nutshell. :))
