Open Post: Hosted By Ty Burrell's Furry Nipples
On Friday, I gave you a serving of Hank Azaria's freshly Nadded nipples, so here's the other side of the coin: Modern Family's Ty Burrell and his luscious nipple mane. Centy, that is a GREAT project. An attorney in my building does death penatly cases and we were just talking about Barry S. today. He has done great work, proving about 100 people on death row innocent with DNA.
You could also check your local legal aid. The District Atty or Public Defenders office always takes volunteers too.

You should ask PP or Momus their opinion too. They both do different things. Momus is an appellate lawyer so she does alot of writintg,
PP is a civil lawyer so I imagine she does alot of discovery and depositions.
I do family law so I am in court nearly every day.

I'm actually going to seek out volunteering on Barry Scheck's Innocence Project in Austin.
It's something I believe in, and the University of Texas has a pretty good law school, so that would be a good start, I think.

You don't have to practice law, you can teach or work for a non-profit. A law degree opens alot of doors, I think. Even if you decide to practice, you have so many fields to go into. For me, being in court was essential. I have a cousin who does international law contracts *yawns* who never goes to court but makes a bucket full of money.

Centy, I don't know you well enough to recommend law school one way or the other. In all seriousness, what are you passionate about? What about law school intrigues you? The suggestion of volunteer work or interning in a law office is a good one. I just did that with my SIL. She was considering school so I had her come work in my office to see if it would interest her. She started school but then quit.
The experience helped her realize the work it would take to get through school and it wasn't for her.

Personally, I loved Law School. I felt like I had found the mother ship, truly. I got to argue for the sake of arguing. I meet alot of interesting people who are still my friends today.
I went to night school because I put myself through. I worked for my dad as a grunt construction worker to pay for school. I dug ditches, laid conduit, poured cement, picked up trash. You name it.
With that said, it is hard work and takes over your life completely. It is a huge committment but well worth it if you find that you love it.
You might check with people person and momus to get their insight.
You could always do a intership or volunteer at a local legal aid or domestic violence group that assists in preparing restraining orders to see if you like it before making such a big commitment.

Centy, I think parents just like to play favorites. Even though they'll never say who the favorite is, it always shows! I'm sure you are far from the fuck-up, but it sounds like you're the fave.
It's hard to tell who the favorite is in my family. Usually it's whoever calls/visits the most. My father tends to favor my brother and my mother favors me. Which is not how it was growing up. But I have not heard from my father since Christmas and here I thought he was just busy - but no, my brother says they speak every weekend! lol focker!

My dad's family is like that.
My dad, even though bright, did not make straight A's in school, so our grandmother decided he was the "fuck up".
He's actually a very talented mechanic and is a manager of a construction company.
His brother, or my one uncle, was considered the "smart" one. He made top notch grades throughout school and in college but never did anything with his career.

Y thank u, LawDog:) It really has always worked for me. I've only been fired once and more than one person has tried. I don't suffer bullying lightly and with the exception of a few experiences like speakit's I've found most people, in any industry, to be bullies. Or at least try. I'm too nervous to throw away a job (but not walk away) but there are some things in life that I just can't tolerate. Like a trainer with no patience. WTF is that?
Plus, Khensu - like pp said earlier - it's all good experience. A journalist needs to know how to work anybody - he could be good practice. I bet, if you stop worrying about how you're doing, you'll figure out how to get that guy chasing his own tail eventually.

Parents decide what their kids will be when we are young.
For instance, I was deemed to be the "smartest" of their three kids.
They still treat me as the "smartest" even though my bro's have far surpassed me in accomplishments.
